Meh... They'll like it just fine until it actually goes up against the asians. Then they'll trash it. EDIT: "Hot selling Aura" As much as I like that, I'm not sure if it's entirely true as I recently read that the Aura had been trending down. (Thanks in part to GM spending a whole $1.50 on marketing)

I chose Honda Civic.... Not even 4 years ago I would've went with 90s Camaro. But now it seems that every trailer park around here has a wide variety of "pimped out, yet barely running --dirty as hell because I never wash the trailer park mud off of it" Civics. And the people who drive these things are my *favorite* people in the world. They're usually white, talk like a 'gansta' and try to wear yesterdays in-style designer clothes while possesing a chip on their shoulder that is so big I could in fact jump on it for a ride.

One in GM's transportation museum and one in the Smithsonian, right? (Although, I think the Smithsonian was a limited time deal) P.S. Or maybe it was the Peterson museum?
-
I know what you mean man... I still believe my first new car will be a Zeta and it'll probably be a uplevel Camaro of some sort. Which bodes well since I already own 2, but I was really hoping to go with Pontiac as I feel it is the GM brand that matches me the best. The G8 is straight lame IMO and I can't fit in a Solstice GXP (which I would buy over a Sky) Hopefully the G8 GXP will get my blood going more. The Impala and Buick are a little to 'old' for me yet and the Cadillacs might not be affordable initially (CTS-V is the only option there) Honestly, the world would be a perfect place if I could afford a Z06.
-
LOL... As usual, you completely missed the point. It's not that the media is 'killing GM'. It's that the media is STILL giving Toyota a free ride. The truck was driven for one day during a manufacturer sponsored event and is automatically the best at everything now? Yeah right, talk about credibility issues.
-
It also suffers from the same cheap, ugly interior as the Tundra. Forgot to mention that, right? It takes GM 3 generations for them to 'edge ahead' of the competition in the minds of journalists (feable minds, yes, but none the less) yet ONE DAY in a Sequoia in which the drivers didn't even go off road, tow anything for any significant time, haul anything at all OR even push the vehicle remotely to it's limits and they come to THIS conclusion?!?! At an $8,000 each discount naturally. MEANING: GM is still MUCH more evil than Toyota, so don't feel guilty by supporting them. Seriously, why esle would this tdbit be incorporated? Maybe they could even do a promotional deal with Spencers who sells the fake turds in a box. I'm sure they'd be happy to wraap this turd up just like they do the smaller ones. Then you can all sit around the fire on christmas morning and joke about the large gag gift you recieved before braving the shoppers the next day to return the thing and go to the Chevy store for the real deal.
-
So you can have a clean conscience about destroying the ozone. 1) How can you scarcely notice towing something like that? This isn't a Kenworth, it's a Sequoia. 2) I'm willing to bet that even the ball-free Ridgeline could accomplish a similar feat on a FLAT road at 55 MPH. Fuel economy is painted in a positive light as opposed to the typical negative tone received by Detroit. EXAMPLE: "The Tahoe is big and thirsty at XX MPG combined" Pure Not a negative remark about body-on-frame, instead it's; 'everybody does it' In what way, the constant quality problems?

From SR5 to Platinum Meh.. Toyota, Lexus, they're basically the same thing. (Just an image scam) The BLATANT option for those of you with "Escalade envy" and a job in the enviro-whacko or academia field, since those don't pay well enough to afford anything other than a Corolla, or this bad boy once Toyota piles $8-10,000 worth of discounts on it like they have with the Turdra. So much for americans and their "desire" for fuel efficiency. Well you sure could argue with the comparative choice in the GMT900s when you all but called would be buyers terrorists for desiring fuel thrirsty SUVs. It also has an impressive defect record, putting it right up there with all those sludgy V6's that consumers got blamed for. Once again, in GM reviews, the cars are called [insert favorite 'fat' slogan of the day] and the writers just 'can't seem to get over the added weight' Yet, in a Toyota review with a pig of an SUV based on their pig of a truck the weight gain is rationalized and barely mentioned.
-
Wow, just wow! Way to play on the mellow dramatic fuel cost issue. Americans are "FEARLESS"; the drive wherever they want regardless. The language strokes the ego of american SUV buyers and paints the company and the SUV in a positive light. Not really... 66,000 sales isn't that serious folks. What a f***in' joke. Which contradicts the above statement that "[it] was a good one, too." WTF?!?!?! Where are all of the eco-losers now?!?! Why is this article not being painted with the typical green liberal slant that all of Detroit's 'fuel hungry monsters' get served up in?!?!? No effing kidding? I should hope so. Why has it declined? GM would be killed for this, but Toyota is 'rationalized' because it basically is a new model ("it isn't an apples to apples comparison) Nothing ever is when it comes to previous generation verses new generation.
-
LOL. All of this slurping based on ONE day of testing. Had they driven a GM product for one day, we would've been delivered a write up with the required "yes, but" -or- "we'll have to wait and see if it makes a difference"Funny how they incorporate the Prius into the picture here to connotate this LARGE and wastefull SUV with Toyota's green image. This will be the new wave of Toyota PR; to paint their most inefficient models with green by incorporating the positive consumer image of Prius into the picture. TRANSLATION OF ABOVE QUOTE: "You don't have to drive a Prius to save the environment, Toyota makes very kind and efficient SUVs as well." and people WILL believe it too, which is sad. Too bad I didn't know about this... I could've fire bombed the fleet or at the very least thrown a bunch of nails on the highway. Umm... Yeah, normally characteristics of machines don't change much... especially in 8 hours. Backhanded compliment... Yet another backhanded compliment.
-
LOL Now, careful there guys... The import humpers will be coming out of the C&G woodwork soon to tell you that you should be ashamed of your pro-GM bias. And they'll support that theory with half assed rationalizations and demand that you acknowledge how much 'Better' the Tundr, err, I mean Sequoia is than ANY of it's domestic competition, by default. As for the article.... No big surprise there. I say bring it on! I'm sure the Sequoia will sell in relation to the Tahoe just as the Tundra sells in relation to the Silverado.
-
I'm willing to bet these will be "status" vehicles more than anything. (Which explains why they're loaded) It'd be interesting to see what a stripper 900 hybrid would be able to achieve MPG-wise. (Not that it would be that much different, but probably a bit better anyway)
-
Reminds me a lot of the QX.... It has the typical Toyota bland/blob factor but I'm sure it'll sell like hell and it's praises will be sung on high.
-
Umm... I kinda like it... In a weird way. The bar through the grille seems like a bit of an after thought. Part of me wants to lower it, black out the windows and lights and put bigger wheels on it so it'll look REALLY mean, lol. Anyway, it'll probably sell regardless. I mean, after all the Yaris is selling and it's 2 times as ugly as this thing.
-
I'm assuming these (Silverado and Sierra) will get the same gains as the hybrid Tahoe and Yukon despite having less aerodynamic enhancements? This is excellent news nonetheless! Now all we need is a light duty diesel to round out the range.
-
I had no idea she was from New York. Meh, according to Gore it's going to disappear into the ocean anyway so problem solved there. Now if we could just find some way to 'off' Cali, we'd be in good shape. FWIW, and just so you're not jealous, I don't much like Alaska either. Not really sure why *shrugs* maybe we can eventually address it too. (Obviously I'm kidding, for those of you that couldn't figure it out)
-
Just remember america... This is what you wanted. I'll drive my classics if I have to. Then when they come to take those away I'll have my gun; waiting for them.
-
Yet another useless cause, taken up by yet another useless celebrity... And people wonder why the majority of america thinks California possesses no value at all to us.
-
My GF and I were talking this over (She's an architecture student) and were amazed at how the automobile is regulated as opposed to inefficient buildings and building techniques. Even the "green" architecture movement is little more than a joke.
-
Welcome to reality you bunch of dumbass enviro-freaks. Seriously though, are these people so ignorant as to believe that Toyota is in it "for the good of the world" and furthermore are they so dumb that they can't see the engineering hurdles to building cars that get 55 MPG?!?! This isn't a Walgreens commercial. A letter writing campaign? Give me a break. And as much as I love the backlash against Toyota, that protest sound laughable at best. **FIXED** Or basically: "Buy the lie some more whilst we crank up Tundra output" Oh what the f*** ever. Yet again; freedom of choice...
-
Freedom of choice... Point taken... I'm just really stressed about all the appealing cars going down the drain and I think it's better to innovate than regulate, even if it is at a bigger cost (which it will be with our hopeless government) Yes but, my point is this; unless we develop the technology to make Tahoes and sports cars viable FASTER than oil increases it's going to destroy our hobby. And since Detroit is in such bad shape, I don't see them doing it by themselves. The market will dictate what happens but timing is essential is we expect to drive something other than crap for the majority of our lives *Crap is defined as: anything remotely similar to an Echo, Yaris, Aveo, Smart, Prius, Fit, etc.

Very sexy...

I guess they figure they can sell a CTS wagon to people who want something sporty (with the absence of the SRX) This will be for those who don't really want sporty, just an image and utility. That is, if they decided to sell a CTS wagon as last I heard it still wasn't a done deal.
-
I really wish they would fix the placement of the SS and GM emblems on the side of the car. I remember when the SS first hit dealerships, the placement of the emblem on the side seemed to be very whimsical and changed on a car by car basis. Now that they finally locked it in place, along came the GM emblem to eff everything up again and make that aspect of the car look bad. It either needs to be moved or removed. BTW, I think I'll like the car better in something other than yellow but I still wish it looked more exciting.

My GF might come as well, I'll find out for sure. She posts here some but not a lot. As for places to eat; that depends on what you're looking for. I'll think on it a bit and try to provide some suggestions (I'm still relatively new to the area though)
