Chalk a sale up for the Trans Am if they do.... I'd buy it over the Camaro probably. But, even if they do bring the F/TA back, it'll have to be NOTHING like the Camaro to be successful.

Well HOT DAMN!!!!! Looks like the analysts can shove the down 10% up their collective..... 5 of 8 divisions up isn't bad!!! And just think, one is a "damaged" division, two of the other Kerkorian wants to axe and one has been deprived of product for 10 years. Gas prices what?!?!?!?! I'm sure the decidedly green media will continue the SUV death march though... But how sweet it is to see all these "GM is stupid for introducing the HHR" and "GM is stupid for introducing large SUVs" crowds eat crow (at least this month) This is one of the new sweet spots in the market... GM needs to react quickly! NICE! So much for that article a few weeks ago about Cadillac losing it's momentum... I'm glad to see the DTS doing well, at first I thought it to be a little weak. Just more of the same negativity and FORMULATED FACTS.... I'm sure they'll downplay the hell out of the GM sales increase though... They're hellbent on seeing GM slide to number 2 and then shrivel up and die afterall. GM should do this... It is the "Cobalt wagon" afterall. Hell, Toyota gets away with combining/fudging the number for two seperate names (Corolla/Matrix----Toyota/Scion) Of course, I'm sure as soon as GM does it the "media watch dogs" will be all over them. Could there be a correlation with this----and this: ???????? It's sad to see Equinox sales cooling off, but honestly, the Torrent is better, has received A LOT more air play and if I were in the market I'd be hard pressed not to buy it instead.... But I agree, GM needs to stay on top of this niche, the Eq needs a better powertrain and more refinement. The new Buick cars seem to be doing well.... In fact, of the other 3 divisions that aren't up 2 (Buick and Chevrolet) are roughly flat. GMC is probably down so much because of Yukon and Yukon XL ramp up. Cobalt up 140.5% (No doubt because last january was ramp up... But still. The new Impala seems to be doing a little better... Wonder how much of the new cars sales are fleet? Hopefully not as much as the old car. Of course, Chevrolet forcasted the new model to be roughly flat compared to the old model. Malibu up 28% How much is fleet? Monte Carlo up 10%.... Not bad Why weren't any of the Chevrolet figures highlighted? G6 up 273% (No doubt due to ramp up last year) Still, it's looking like a hit... Just proves that GM did a $h!ty job of launching the car by launching one version per year and by saturating the market with HIGH priced models first. Hopefully, it can overcome the stigma created by the bad press... And just think, G6 sales are in for another boost when the convertible launches in the spring. Pontiac in general is up HUGE! 55.8% The 9-2X is a flop and the 9-5 remodel doesn't seem to be helping much... Of course, I've only seen one so far on a dealers lot. So it might still be ramping up. The Escalade is bringing Caddy down... No doubt because of the change over. SRX down Jesus, the Colorado and Eq both tanked! Trailblazer up 24%!!! Terazza up 69.5% (Big compared to the other U-bodies)

Ahhhh... But even the polished aluminums on my cars shine more than those... Hmmm.. I dunno. I like it, although I'm usually not a fan of conservative.. But on a cash cow like this I can see why Chevy would need to appeal to ALL people... The only disadvantage to the design IMO is that it might age TOO fast and GM will have to keep on top of it with facelifts... IMO, the Impala, which shares the same new 'clean' Chevrolet look, looks EXCELLENT and aggressive in LTZ/SS form but cheap and dated/not substantial in base form.... I'm just woried that the base models of the new 900's will look the same way. You can still tell that these are Zarella era GM all the way, eventhough they ARE class leading and VERY nice!
-
SWEET!!!!!! LOL... Experts... Yeah right. That title seems to be used very liberally in this industry now. GO FORD!!!!! You made my day (Now maybe I won't be a heap of displaced anger) I'm sure someone will try to throw water on the fire though... Look for a whole SLEW of negative Ford articles in the next few days. Some will probably headline with negative aspects of this months sales in fact. The Milan/Fusion/Zephyr are HITS!!! (Until the bad press) I'd love to own one! 220,000!!! Above estimates!!!! Shows what DETROIT can do in this segment if they GET SERIOUS!!! Oh, and BTW, I'm extremely PLEASED with the HUGE amount of MERCURY advertising I've seen lately (Milan) F-series up!!! Car sales up 18%!!! Land Rover, record set, up 34%!!!

Typical GM bad luck.

Yeah, I love how Honda quickly RIPPED that one off from Saturn/Opel and now everyone is going to say... "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and the Saturn does it right up to it's HOnda-esque grille" You mean it's not the confident "Ultimate Utility Vehicle" anymore? No trucks??? Just a Suburban chop and "2 announcments" to justify the suggested "on a roll"?
-
WOW!!! That's WAY different!!! I dunno, it's very nice, but the design kinda lost it's edge IMO. It is nice though! I hope the trucks are ACTUALLY different from the SUVs. Oh and while I'm in whine mode; what is it with GM and their chrome wheels? The wheels on the late 90's cars were SUPER shiney but tarnished sometimes. And now all of the new chromes might as well be painted because they're so dull.

Now hopefully the PR dept. will go from completely inept to barely competent once again... -

GM, Ford US sales slide continues in January
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to Variance's topic in Industry News
Nice that ALL the media is pointing this "milestone" out.. 2 notes... 1) This is obviously a follow up to the quote made last year of "The imports are eating Detroit's lunch" 2) Nice that he worked "transplants" in there... ENTER: the next step in the propaganda war: Wall Street. We see who they're in bed with. This is what happens when the media CAN'T deny facts, but doesn't want to give the domestics credit. a.k.a. chomping at the bit to see Detroit dead. Of course! Like I said; now that Toyota has been boosted and poised to pass GM, the media is getting behind Honda and it shows. -
Kia putting Chevrolet in its cross hairs
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to regfootball's topic in General Motors
LOL.. Typical... And I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this "fact" in all sorts of media... Afterall, ANYTHING is better than GM. -
Naturally! It's the domestic cars industry... America is trying to rid itself of this 'disgrace', not celebrate it. (Much sarcasm intended--naturally)

:rotflmao: Here are a few more: (More of the same; lame) from essuvee.com (The safe driving habits source for SUV lovers "Sometimes your essuvee will want to devoir small cars as tasty treats. You MUST know how to control your beasts urges. REMEMBER essuvees can be unsafe and unpredictable!" "Set of knobby, knarly tires: $800... 6" Eibach suspension lift: $1000... 2 stage candy apple red paint job... $1500... Showing those pansie handed hippies at the JCPenney early bird sale that you mean business when it comes to parking... Priceless!" Everett's Body Shop advertisement: "The ultimate way to re-pay careless drivers who put nasty door dings on your Pride & Joy!---If they don't pay, send 'em our way!"
-
Wall Street only kills domestic industry.... They don't dare touch the asian companies. Oh, and BTW, am I the only one that isn't surprised by this? And I guess the street decided to throw this out to try and kill stock prices again, after they've been on an upward trend.
-
Silly boy... Don't you know that ALL the measurements are subjective unless used against domestics?!?!? I see a lot of SC 430 in the front.... But, yeah... It is a Camry... And what's funny is EVERYONE increasingly knows it and it seems to be starting to have a bad effect on the Lexi image. I'm sure it'll hang the moon though.... I just think it's balnd and soulless, just like every other Toyota. So does a three headed cow.... Does that mean it's pretty? Enthusiasm and Toyota is an oxymoron.. I can think of many more, trust me... And I can think of many reasons why that isn't a good thing... AS I can think of many reasons why a GM sourced Buick or Cadillac is better. BTW, a lot of this post was meant in a 'ribbing' fashion... FUnny THAT never made the news...
-
LOL... meh, it's Consumer Reports... They pull all of their other numbers out of their ***es, so that's probably where the "300%" originated. One of the greenie interns: "Man, that QX is MAD unreliable... Like WAAY unreliable dude.... Like whoa.... So how's about a little "J" break?" LOL (I know, I'm just full of it tonight and having a little fun)
-
LOL @ the Ranger.... Kill the Ford machine, that's the motto.. Okay, seriously... WTF does this have to do with ANYTHING relating to this list?!?!?!? This is high school immaturity at it's best, [valley girl voice] "shhh.... yaaaa... like whatever, I'd never be caught ded in one of those things, they're sooo not cool!!!"[/valley girl voice] GIMME A BREAK! LEGIT REASONS ONLY, please Forbes... STOP beating up on Ford! Of course, americans are that shallow these days.... I think I'll buy one just to be an IN-DIV-ID-U-AL!!! Ohh.. wait a minute!?!?!? WHAT!?!? You mean the car that all the punk ricers get their parents to buy for them is **GASP** unsafe?!?!?! But it's such a NEW design (Compared to the Ranger) ***.....*****... Buha... Buhahahahahaha!!!!!.... :rotflmao: Ohhh... Detroit better be scared! Oh wait.... Gotta save face...... Gotta save the Nissan boys' arse and keep those import lovers in the media and abroad happy. LOOK OUT CHEVROLET!!!! Whoa... Kia's burning up the streets... I guess that great warrenty doesn't count so much now.... Oh, and how come this 'resale phenomenon" isn't played against imports like this as it is in reviews against similar domestics???? *** Okay, so where now are all of the "import doom and gloom stories" associated with this piece?!?!?! Where are all the worriesom articles we'd have to endure as domestic fans if our domestics topped this list like imports NOW do? Where are all of the "WOW" not many GM's on there comments??!?!?! Where is all of the negative publicity and image destructive/exposure that SHOULD be tied to this story?!?! Better yet, where in the HELL are all of the little whiners that cry "domestic car XXX is unsafe" and put our 15 bulletins day (Like they did with the Sport Trac--right before the introduction of the Ridgeline) Where are they now?
-
Maybe it went to hell, where it should be... *BADDABING!!!* Seriously though, it was probably HYPED enough to jump start sales so Honda started mailing out Ridgeline/Civic checks instead. I still see them and I still LOVE them... But it is kinda funny that the AMERICAN designed 300 is mopping the floor with Chrysler's "halo" Too bad Ford has neglected it's entry level vehicles so badly (Focus?Ranger) Lame ass car.... Nah, after Toyota started passing out the "REVOLUTIONARY PRIUS kool aid" This 'flavor of the week' got set out on the dock bound for asian town. I was actually a fan of the Axiom and thought it would do great things for Isuzu... But I guess not, they're not a "chosen" Japanese brand (a.k.a GM owned a share in them) You laugh, but it is awefully funny that the ONLY 2 or 3 Japanese companies that EXCEL in this country have NO Detroit influence. Mazda does decent (Ford) Mitsubishi is dieing (DCX) Isuzu died (GM) Subaru will grow (GM sold them) and Suzuki is on the skids right now (GM) Just a bad idea from the beginning... See above "Mazda" post. Sadly..... You know... I've read in 2 reviews now: "This is the SEXY brother to the stodgy Dodge Dakota." First, the Dakota isn't stodgy at all... Secondly this thing looks god-awful-anime-dog pile-come catfish-frikkin' ugly to me and aside from the HIGHLY exploited asian badge, offers NOTHING to get excited about. Goodbye Relay... Hello Lambda I thought these sold well... And I figured it'd be a success. Sad... I wish Suzuki were doing better... They are a very good GM partnership after all.

Bubba to Billy Bob: "WOW! Those new tars' shure do cut down on the turnin' radyuos." Bubba: "How're we gonna get this truck up in the ar to work on the rear end?" Billy Bob: "Awe, we'll just use Skeet's car, he won't mind" (I know, they're lame)

Washington will continue to do nothing... Afterall, 1) It's not effecting votes and 2) It isn't a problem on their personal financial statements. Why would they be motivated to do anything?

Kia putting Chevrolet in its cross hairs
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to regfootball's topic in General Motors
Personally, I hope Hyundai eats Toyota's lunch. I'll be a HUGE Hyundai fan! -
LOL>.. Nah it's a MYTH... Seriously, japanese cars are NO better than domestics and a lot of times are WORSE.... But, thanks to our 'asian humping' culture and a ANTI-Detroit media, the story has been re-written. I have an '82 Toyota with 235,000 miles... (My family bought it new and has put ALL those miles on it) It runs pretty good and it's also pretty solid. Even though A LOT of mechanical stuff needs to be replaced... The interior has survived well. On the other hand, I had a '90 Lumina that had close to 240,000 miles on it. Got EXXXXCELLENT fuel mileage and was MUCH smoother than the Toyota and ran great. BUT the interior was a mess. (thanks to the sun) And it needed new shocks in the rear. Now, the '82 is a much simpler car, so it shouldn't be as hard to make last as the Lumina... On the other hand, the Lumina was a much YOUNGER car.. The Lumina definately felt more solid but the Toyota has been a VERY good car and holds a special place in my heart. (Don't tell anyone though) In reality, I don't think you can buy a BAD car anymore... But the MYTH that Detroit sucks is alive and well (deliberately)
-
LOL... MOST journalists don't do RESEARCH on domestics... We all know that. What? What was that?!?!?!? Damaged brands?!?!?!? The young 'uns seem to like the Solstice just fine and the Lucerne is getting the wheels turning FAST at Buick!
-
FUNNY... I never heard about that one... automatic disclaimer HELL YEAH! ***Finally a decent FAIR review that ***ding, ding*** Isn't import biased.. Hell Yeah!!! Way to go Buick!!!

Kia putting Chevrolet in its cross hairs
FUTURE_OF_GM replied to regfootball's topic in General Motors
LOL... I love how Kia is so determined as to say: "That's where our customers are coming from" especially since, over the last 2 years, Chevrolet has become an international powerhouse that is now the best selling brand in america.... It's almost as if these import companies have divided up Detroit like a big fat steak... Oh who am I kidding... They did that years ago and they've already off-ed Oldsmobile (Where the mid premium Acura/Toyota/Honda buyer lies.) What exactly does the "So be careful" mean??? Is that directed toward the media? a.k.a. SO SPREAD THE WORD MEDIA!!! We want on the "We're american too" propaganda parade as well. Anybody else find that somewhat of a funny statement? THAT, on the other hand, is PURE gold.
