  1. Could you all give me your thoughts on small suvs? Not really impressed with anything from GM in that segment. Trax is one of the least impressive SUV models. Ecosport is so dismal even Wings pans it over on Ford insider news. CRV sells well and has a nicely packaged interior. But CRV is one of the blandest post world war two vehicles by anyone. Escape is a nice product and attractive but not a lot of colors of packages of options are available and real world fuel economy is back of pack. Ride...handling and CVT in Crosstrek and other subies makes them not very compelling. Toyota RAV 4 is unattractive and interior materials seem cheap. Tiguan from VW is back of the pack in terms of design. Jeep Cherokee and Renegade seem like obvious choices but issues persist with the ZF nine speed transmission.
  2. The Hyundai of domestics...without the extended warranty. At least not with us here. Your Jeep looks better all of the time.
  3. Except at 70 K for a Grand Cherokee Jeep will do everything short of having the girl at the reception desk perform an unmentionable act for me. 70K for Cadillac and people at the Bar will wonder why I put a junkyard Cadillac front clip on a Traverse. In the same way bacteria on a petri dish grow in a alb. Cadillac Grand Vitara....has a better ring to it than XT6. Upon further reflection...one legacy brand did not die. Look at this...Spring Hill is still building Saturns!
  4. In a one star hotel with meth addicts on the sidewalk outside no less.
  5. Suddenly even to me Ford almost looks good. New Explorer. ..aviator...Escape is better than comparable GM offerings...they will bring out a revised Ecosport to fix that...new Bronco...wonder how much crow I would have to eat if I actually started being positive about Ford? But if this is GMs nrw direction...Hyundai Santa Fe looks better than this.
  6. Fixed that for you. Lipstick on a pig. Once again...now that the ST twins are gone...Jeep seems to be the only domestic building things I actually want to own. This does not warm my heart towards Cadillac. Mitsubishi...so Glad that Cadillac is following the maker of the Japaneze Zero on a kamikaze path.
  7. Mine tells me I am more like 13...so eleven years ahead of you.
  8. After 120 years it starts over at zero...kind of like an old style automotive odometer.
  9. Nice Stuff here...Cadillac, Shelby Mustang, WRX STI, Supra, Lexus....
  10. I wasn't saying that you had...I was agreeing with you. People would pretty much Damn GM for the shade of off white the outside of Lordsptown is painted with...
  11. Nor should they ever ban them. I think the ICE vehicle will stay around as a niche vehicle for a very long time....for the same reason Facebook has not replaced Cheers and Gears. Cheers and Gears is a niche market for older guys who don't get laid enough to argue vehemently about cars they are never ever going to buy. If a free market of ideas can provide that... A free economic market can provide ICE vehicles as niche products in a world of electrics. Not to mention Cold weather cuts into the range of battery electric vehicles...and the resistance of snow would not have helped matters any either...
  12. Free market economics will provide balance at some point.
  13. I never said that at all...Free markets baby...all the pain up front beats keeping inefficient plants and unwanted products out of the production stream. The pain is less if it is done directly, quickly, and by the people who have the most to loose...the owners and directors of the company.
  14. Fantastic on the pic and old Fords both.
  15. Like I said elsewhere...time for many legacy car makers to go away. Bring on Tesla and the electrics! Would be infinitely more sad about Jag than Ford. But maybe their time is past. Looking forward in positive anticipation at what the future holds.
  16. Make mine hot with a Hemi. One can love ICE and electric both.
  17. A lot of vehicles in this segment are not terribly inspired.
  18. You all know my feelings about Ford...Nissan is one company I like and trust less than Ford. They are prooving to be rather sleezy.
  19. Nice paint work, not exactly my thing...but I like regular cab trucks.
  20. Common sense sadly goes away when people get behind the wheel of a powerful car. I know a gentleman from a local car club who outran the police in a wild chase with his 8 year old son, and a woman who rolled a convertible with her kids in car seats in the back...no one injured that seriously...but...dammit man...if your going to drive that way do it on a track without kids in the car. I really like the idea of ambulance waiting and corner workers wearing white when I get crazy with a car. Just sayin... And don't drive things hard you can't afford to write off. Clapped out 4th Gen Z28 could have been had for a few grand, track fees for a track day with fuel couple hundred at most... Far cheaper for this gentleman than insurance costs, hospital costs, being out a car, and the like. He is lucky if he is not charged with criminal neglect of Children by some social worker.
  21. It would be an odd mix of corporate cultures which are VERY different...not sure how that marriage would work out. Very different sense of business and environmental ethics also.
  22. This job is honestly worth farming out to an independent shop IMHO.
  23. It should save hugely in terms of things like emissions certification for new vehicles. Flexibility in manufacturing now becomes easy because your power plant configuration would seem to be more standardized. But yes...I think this is a real turning point.
