  1. WE are going to go into deeper and deeper decline. UPS is cutting good union jobs and hiring subcontractors, as union busting is more legally possible now. I am switching my love of cars to a love of cycling and hiking, and have been for a long time. A used Subaru that can get either me, or me and my bike, to the nearest trail or backroad is all I ask. Would trade my US citizenship for Canadian or Mexican, without question...or French, or Italian, or Scottish, or Irish, or Spanish, or German, or Polish, or Japanese, or any number of other countries. We are an international embarrassment. This is an interesting story. Want to visit the Louvre when i visit France. The people who scream freedom the loudest are all about freedom until its their guy destroying freedom. The Scion Xb, the original variant, and a Kia Soul had a love child, with some sort of birth defect. I get to be like Olds Hurst and put up a music Video!
  2. Yes they are! It's amazing, yes I am American, I live to buy useless modern $h! that isn't built as well as the stuff we used to make here, and I also live for sports. I live an unexamined life where social media keeps me completely dependant on the opinions of others. I go to a mindless evangelical church... New problem, AI Psychosis....
  3. The drama continues
  4. Inline 6 is just cool from an engenering standpoint, so many B body midsized ,MOPARS from the muscle car era came with 383, 440, 426 Hemi, I would love a slant six B body just for the being different factor. This surfer girl is badass! The world gets dumber by the minute... Regardless of true or false, would the founders of Christianity recognize its 20th century form of Christianity as Christian? In the case of Orthodoxy yes, in the case of American evangelicalism, I would say no....they would not. Can we go from dumber by the minute to dumber by the second...?
  5. This just explains life in America perfectly.
  6. And here we agree perfectly.
  7. And I am not saying that the Democrats are good, that our problems are all political, or that America is entirely bad. But we are going through a bout of national insanity.
  8. It's not just politics corrupted here, it is religion as well. And zero ability to self reflect or see ourselves in a cultural mirror. It's almost like America has some sort of national autism and can't read the room and can't understand what others are trying to tell it.
  9. Ohio has a lot of beautiful parts. No idea what the rest of my life holds, zero effort put into worrying about it. I can plan for some contingencies, but that is about it. America is losing the war it has with reality, as well as the trade war.
  10. I have so many places to travel and so few years left to live. That we have this sort of insanity at all is an issue though. We live in an America with two separate sets of media, two different sets of social media, and a wildly post modern sense of what truth is and how it is relevant. This is another great generation of GM cars, best ever were the midsize 68-72 IMHO. Whopper Wednesday indeed! It's almost as if we just embraced some form of objective reality and broke the duopoly of the corrupt democrats and corrupt republicans, that we would have a fantastic country. Hell, I am white and native born and about to start carrying mine. Get used to Nazis they are an invasive species here to stay.
  11. It’s actually a fantastic place to live. As disgusted as I am on the national scale, I am the exact opposite on the local scale, my life here is incredibly good! Rational They can fix it by unbolting the license plate and driving another truck up to that plate. “Gee Ma, it’s red now!”
  12. From a factual standpoint, being a zombie and being a fascist isn’t mutually exclusive so there is that.
  13. Its the very clear sign of an empire in decline. Why American Airlines, Like Spirit and Southwest, is having bumpy skies. Worth a watch. A video reflecting a happy teenage years, cars and happier times.
  14. My other bike, a Raleigh. Alum Creek/Blacklick Creek trail, I ride it often. The rolling junkyards of Ohio, broken rusted frame, broken rusted bed, its a goner. I really like this, was at the Columbus Museum, of Art. Cool old Desoto wagon in Hilliard, out from a morning walk.
  15. The Calzone in question, it was glorious. I will disagree with Olds Hurst, not sure we are going to find a better one in Montreal. Nor Italy, to respond to another esteemed member here... This was a Mexican porter, fantastic, and the other Stout I had was amazing. The fire I enjoyed waiting for my wife.
  16. And the reason for my feelings is factual, we really are destroying the country rapidly and its not coming back. The debt, the move away from the dollar as the reserve currency for the world, the de industrialization, the loss of family farms, the educational damage, the environmental damage, the division, its all getting worse and not going to reverse regardless of how we vote. The die is cast, the American empire is over. We took a 102 mile round trip bike ride Saturday, I only made half if it as my bike had mechanical problems at the 51 mile mark. Could not rectify the problem, so I waited at a local brew pub by a fire on the patio with my Cannondale eating a Calzone and drinking good beer 9only had 2 though) until my wife got to the Ranger and drove down to pick me up. Drinking good beer, enjoying my life, eating good food, being in touch with nature, and riding my bike are how I am going to live through and enjoy the tough times we are inevitably going to face. That ride is a metaphor for the next twenty years of my life... Hell yeah, at least there is beer. Bokes loaded into the Ranger after a long day, My wife's Specialized carbon fiber Ruby on the other side of the bed.
  17. That is a sexy beast The people we put in office are essentially zombies.
  18. I have re discovered cycling, and find joy in solitude and spending time in my workshop and with friends. But I am here now, and this is the internet.. Tesla is the most over valued stock on the planet. Without government tariffs, they would be dead in a week. Chinese EV's would kill them.
  19. Indiana where I grew up hit much harder than Ohio. In about 5 generations, we have gone from folks owning productive farms to paying three grand a month for two bedroom apartments.
  20. More than the educational failure, the moral failure of the USA. I am sort of over being angry, just want to find a way to avoid the morally failed folks that voted for/support all of this.
  21. An overhead photo of a town in Iowa in the 1930's showed three railroads ran through the town, a population of 900, and several factories. An early 2000's overhead photo showed the railroads and factories gone, but 600 people still lived there. Farming, education, and medical kept the town alive. We are killing all three in small towns like that. In 20 years the Chinese and corporations will own all of the land, and there will be a barracks for company workers, and little else in that small town. On to happier things.
  22. About 9 years old. I do love cats, however I want to do a lot of biking and hiking. More economic chaos.
