  1. As the not so good book says, Money is the root of all sorts of evil. Yes How aggressively do you mountain bike and what tire do you use? I don't really mountain bike but am starting to ride some nasty places, need more aggressive treads on on of my bikes.
  2. I run Continentals on my Cannondale and love them also
  3. Part of me is just bone weary of human stupidity. Not you, others. China can make crap or excellent stuff, everything is built to a price point. But having to find 26 x 1 1/2 tires for an older bike my wife rides. Most of what is available is as you say cheap Chinese crap. sometimes I just want to buy something and have it work Patrick Henry may have just only begun fighting, Trump has only just begun destroying the American auto industry. Money talks, BS walks. Ottawa will indeed be a state capitol in the US at the rate we are going. Has become? Has always been.
  4. The parallel here is MG, a former British company now owned by Chinese IIRC. I see the MG brand everywhere outside of the USA Gorgeous. More like this please. Glad to see them doing this, I really want to urban hike Montreal. Canadians, and the folks in the other 198 countries outside of the USA, all should indeed boycott the USA
  5. Absolutely. But it wouldn't be built by an American company.
  6. Watching this forum implode along with the world, the domestic auto industry, and the country around it though is sort of amusing.
  7. Sadly I am probably the only one here that will read this, but thank you. You need to talk about how cool Montreal is, or something. Archie Bunker back in the 1970s led a miserable existence because he realized how much better everyone else's life was. Focus on the good in your life, not the lives of others. Be grateful you don't live here, and encourage other Canadians to boycott. Lithium makes great anti psychosis meds, as well as batteries. So many uses. irrelevant, most Americans would survive this civil war, and regardless of outcome would not improve current downward trajectory of US
  8. There is a really good book by Len Deighton called Violent Ward, where LA goes completely to ship (t) and things fall apart. Was a good read a couple of decades ago when I read it. Twenty years ago, this forum was well populated and relevant. Now its a pathetic shadow of its former self. Being here is like watching the final collapse of LA in that novel. I feel bad for Drew, who owns the site and is a good guy. But the site mirrors the domestic auto industry and the country that holds that domestic auto industry, all three are going to collapse into irrelevancy. We need a book with Olds on a Horse with Windmills. Don Quixote was another good read, but it takes an 8th grade literacy level which most Americans seem to actually lack. I work in a university and a surprising number of incoming Freshmen are almost functionally illiterate. Would love to live in a world where cars like a 70 442 were still relevant, or where we had interesting, profitable American EV's. I do like the lightening and a few of the hummers. But in this world, the 442 is following other American muscle cars, the American auto industry, the country, and this site into oblivion. Feel free to request meds. I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but god damn, the windmills thing son....and I don't mean modern renewables...Don...don Quixote... America needs a divorce, where sane places like Washington, Oregon and Northern California can form a country called Cascadia and other states can descend into 1820 socially, politically, and religiously, and then 1620. When were the witches hung in Salem, Mass again? Its going to become an irrelevant third world fascist state. give it thirty years, or weeks, or minutes, god only knows how long.
  9. There is nothing to do. Listen to Richard Wolf, the collapse is inevitable at this point. America is incapable of governing itself, and thus the economic collapse will keep America from causing negative consequences around the world. Given the Belt and Road initiative and other positive things on the BRICKS side, a Chinese century is preferable to an American century at this point. The 21st century should be the Chinese century, and Canada is doing the rational thing getting rid of tariffs on Chinese EV's as the domestic automakers are destined to fail and disappear. Better Canadians don't own vehicles that are obsolete that they can't get parts for.
  10. She was an Amazing woman, from an era departed, really from a country departed. We will see what, if anything will rise from the ashes of American democracy. Just watched the movie House of Dynamite. No guarantee that everything doesn't end up as ash....
  11. While the gentleman from St Louis and the gentleman from Montreal sling dog feces at each other on the forum, America continues to decline, including American brands like Dodge and Chrysler, as well as Jeep. Multiple reasons my next car will be a Subaru or a Mazda, Toyota maybe. Although the Ranger has been excellent, just hit 121 K. There isn't much fighting for it at this point. ITs sort of like the world trade center after it got hit by a fully fueled Boeing, what has happened will lead to an inevitable (and spectacular collapse.) Rather than a short term temper tantrum on the part of both of you, perhaps we can just rationally conclude that any special relationship the two countries had is now over.
  12. I fully support any decision that you, as a rational human, chose to make legally regarding fire arms. I think forgiveness without reconciliation is my view on America. I don't like much of what the country does, I can't throw all Americans under the bus, its very hard for me to support the country right now in any way. But it isn't mentally healthy for me to hate the country, which is where I have been a lot of the time. I am finding spending more time in nature hiking and biking is keeping me sane. I love Richard Wolf.
  13. More economic winning.
  14. That sounds epic.
  15. Good thing I have a pickup truck with a decent sized fuel tank. Not flying anywhere for awhile.
  16. Lots of exploring I want to do. More on little Miami...
  17. Things rapidly going to Shhh Hhhhhhh eye teeeee after our current government actions. We are doing this tomorrow, should be good. We plan to do about 6-7 hours, maybe sixty miles or so total.
  18. Surly bikes are made in Taiwan, which makes me think harder about getting one, just checked.
  19. The whole thing is a house of cards.
  20. American made, which I don't want to support the country....but seems to be an ethical company. Surly Bikes. https://surlybikes.com/ Steel. I may have to eat my words like I ate them when I bought the Ranger. Like their products, and have been spending a lot more time up on two wheels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surly_Bikes And I didn't catch this on the news, which is entirely corrupt in this country.
  21. I am positioning myself to do just that. Also positioning myself to never return/move back.
  22. I want northing to do with organized religion, MAGA, buying American, being American, cheering for American sports teams, being a Nazi, supporting a Nazi, etc.
  23. Nothing like open carry to make tourists from other places feel safe in the USA
  24. I love Richard Wolf, he gets it right on the US decline. I trust the BBC, not any American sources. This will get ugly. Not buying flight tickets any time soon. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx27z97ryr0o From the article... US air travelers are experiencing a second day of flight delays and cancellations, as the government shutdown causes a worsening shortage of air traffic controllers. On Tuesday evening, the flight delays hit even more airports, with the cities of Nashville, Dallas, Chicago and Newark especially affected. On Monday, air traffic control at the Hollywood Burbank Airport in California was unmanned for nearly six hours and remotely managed due to staffing shortages. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said some air traffic controllers are calling in sick as the shutdown, now in its seventh day, adds stress on workers. He estimated that staffing has at times dropped to 50% in some areas.
