Less strenuous home improvement project today: painted the door from garage into the house and added a new lock set. Didn't feel I needed a deadbolt, so I gave it up and installed a blank plate over the hole. Turned out nice. I've had the new lockset for prolly 2 years, decided to use my vacay to actually get things DONE.

How can they ever drop, with pants that tight? You can see them screaming for freedom.

1973 Pontiac Catalina, 400/auto. 1989 Silverado 1500 4X4, 305/5-speed manual. 1966 Impala convertible, 283/Powerglide. 1986 Camaro, 305/5-speed manual. 2002 Silverado 1500, 4.8/auto. 2007 GMC Sierra 1500, 5.3/auto. All but the Catalina and Impala were bought new. Why? -
Good Lord, you're gonna need a LOT of lube to make THAT one fit!

That is a fine looking Avalanche. I think the brake line problem with GM trucks of earlier gens involved moisture in the lines, allowing the lines to weaken and burst with pressure. My Dad and brother have '03 and '04 Silverado 1500s, and both of them had full stainless lines installed after failure of the factory lines. This only occurred in the last couple of years, so they went a long time. It is a widespread problem, though. I haven't heard that it persisted into trucks as new as your Avalanche.

Quite confused by this phrase. Are you insulting me? TELL ME DAMMIT. My wet dream does not involve supercars. I think they're an egregious waste of moolah. The Hyperion DOES look like a coked-up Bug. And David (the statue) is correct, the Hyperion is an alt fuel vehicle, and since I am suck a law abiding C&G citizen, I will credit him that fact. *sticks out tongue at olds* -
Well, today I ripped out old carpet and pried up old tack strips in my living room. Also cleaned out and organized my garage (thanks for all the hard work and help, Mom.) Then hauled it all to the dump very carefully. It is so handy to own a pickup truck! Oh, and I had professional help with my kitchen sink plumbing. Things are shaping up around this joint... still got a lot to do, as homeowners know, there is always a project or plan. Want to paint the living room and choose new flooring next, too many good choices out there, need to keep to a strict budget. I am thinking hard floors, so I can plug in the leaf blower and go to town, instead of vacuuming.

IKR, he posts a word that is associated with one posted 2 or 3 posts prior instead of the most recent. Many examples extant. LOL fermented

I'd be careful with rustproofing/undercoating, as sometimes built-in (air and water) drainage channels get blocked and make matters worse. I don't see how it can hurt if carefully applied though.

Haha, there was a little fat black toad under that ball of concrete and broken bricks when I rolled it out of the way this morning to get rid of it. I let him dig himself back in, didn't have the heart to move him. However, with his home desecrated and the sun's heat rising, either he'll burrow deeper, or be forced to relocate.

IMHO, it's a good idea for Hyundai to hedge their bets creating a new brand by selling a few EV's a year to willing customers (and maybe more to UNwilling customers) just in case the EV thing goes bust. It is not a proven fact that EV will be widely well received by the buying public. So, a separate brand is a good strategy.

OK, here's the hacksaw murderer, with the blood of a thousand PVC pipes still in its teeth. The new faucet. Scattered remains of PVC, money wasted. New drains with nothing but stubs. And my front landing, showing signs of wham, bam, thank you ma'am construction (circa 1986). Featuring a (moveable, but heavy) ball of junk concrete.

Well I'm on vacation this week. Ripped out an old, inoperable garbage disposal and put a new kitchen faucet in. Can't use it because I cannot figure out the plumbing, LOL. Got a call in to mom's BF, he's a plumber, he'll be here Thursday to fix me up. My house is a split foyer with the front of the house mounded up. The front landing is L-shaped, with a planting area between the house and the steps, about 3x4. I moved 20 landscape blocks (that I put in about 10 years back, replacing the rotted railroad ties that were here when I bought the place) and dug out about half a yard of dirt to get the planting area level with the ground, only to find a giant ball of junk cement and broken bricks beneath the dirt, plus the front of the house and the steps are unfinished under there, and the ugly is now fully visible. Ugh, cookie-cutter housing developments... I wonder how much it would cost to have the 3-foot wide concrete steps taken out and replaced with a full-width set of concrete steps, the whole lemf of the landing... hmmm...
