Oh, as far as spotter thread titles go, usually a day ahead, or on the spot. I saw a black GLK parked along the street, I didn't realize they were out yet. It's kinda kool in a militaristic way. Certainly not a "cute ute", more like small but purposeful, boxy to the extreme. Also saw a Q5, new on the VW/Porsche/Audi lot, in black as I left Wendy's for lunch.

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Porsche. RWD stalwarts, doing just fine. Even Lexus, that wart at the top of Toyota's heap, has RWD at the top of their range and in the IS, a car meant to be taken seriously as a driver's luxury car. What exactly does GM want Cadillac to be? They ventured into serious territory with the original CTS, came into their own with the current car, and now, all indicators point toward a retreat from their foray into the top tier. Too damn bad for them. It was fun while it lasted. At least we'll have the CTS-V Coupe as a Last Hurrah (if it makes it to market).

I've always liked the VW Rabbit/Golf/Rabbit... but I have to face facts... up to now, Americans don't care about small premium hatches in huge numbers. For the price, the Astra just is not competitive with other cars in its class here in the US.

I used to live much closer to the MD and DE ocean beaches. I love the beach, especially Assateague just south of Ocean City, MD. While I don't fish, it looks fun except for hooking some innocent creature accidentally and having to try to avoid killing it while fishing for something edible. It always pains me to see a surf fisherman pull in something like a skate or a ray, injured by his hook, and then try to remove the hook to avoid killing the creature, an attempt met with varying degrees of success.
