  1. At Oldsmobile, the first 3 attempts at downsizing the excesses of the early 70's proved successful: The '77 B/C bodies, the '78 A-bodies (to a lesser extent maybe than at other divisions, they were fixed with the '81 model year) and the '79 E body. The '80 X-body was the beginning of the end for GM as a whole, I think.
  2. Yup, I was noticing what appears to be a pillarless greenhouse, too. The windows are too dark to discern the presence of a B-pillar, though. I suspect it's got frameless door glass and a glued-in quarter glass over a B-pillar, like the Camaro... but wouldn't it blow some minds if it were a budget-priced Korean hardtop coupe? I guess we'll see soon enough.
  3. Agreed. My dad has been a GM man his entire life, never owned anything else. He raised my half brother to be a diehard GM fan. I have owned quite a few GM products myself. My mom's first car was handed down from her father, a late-40's Pontiac. Over the years, she's owned quite a few GM products, with a few detours like me. GM is like home to us. I cannot imagine an America without GM. It is just unthinkable.
  4. Your employees who see you doing it, for one. A manager has to be respected.
  5. Did ya hear that SAmadei, he said it's FREE!
  6. Just proves the old chestnut: a GM car will run badly longer than some cars run atall.

  8. No he's not. He thinks you're the bearded lady from the circus.
  9. Well, the head curtain airbag clearly deployed, it shows in the picture. I don't think any airbag could have saved the poor guy.
  10. The extreme inertia necessary for an engine to swing hard enough to break a car in half doesn't happen at 40 mph. This story sounds bogus.
  11. Those Swiss plates, I heard they are full of holes. True?
  12. Selling "the deal" instead of the car has been a problem for GM. They need to start selling the car to build desirability among non-loyalists.
  13. Hmmm... so far, the Vega and Cimarron were fair targets. Not so sure about the Chevrolet L-cars, though. I'll wait to see how you spin it.
  14. Satty, that was probably the special edition Mustang made to raise money for breast cancer. You know, b00bs?
  15. If Ford made a modern, small pickup truck at a price that would make it a real alternative to the F-150, I bet it would sell like hotcakes. Trouble is, it is too cheap to build a fullsize pickup, so the manufacturers can afford to discount the heck out of them... effectively pricing their compact trucks out of the market. The minor trim and wheel changes made to the '09 GMT355s make me want another one. My '04 was a sweet truck, if a little down on power, a situation since remedied.
  16. The J-body was never great, but it was good. It sold in good numbers. I still see a lot of old ones on the road. It could have been better with continuous improvements instead of being allowed to stagnate and fall so far behind in the public's perception. Using money to update the J body instead of creating Saturn could have put GM in a much better position in the compact car market.

  18. Dude, don't call 911 on me, it's just McNuggets! Yeah, I might be able to recall maybe ONE TIME in ALL MY YEARS ON THIS EARTH (?) when I have gone away empty handed. Home made nuggets are the bomb, here's the 411: Pre-cut fresh boneless chicken breast tenders egg breading (anything from potato flakes to flour or bread crumbs mixed with a little Adobo and cayenne pepper) cooking oil Heat enough oil in pan to cover your nuggets. Cut tenders into bite-size chunks with kitchen shears. Mix breading and place in ziploc bag, mixing well. Dip chicken into beaten egg, place in bag of breading. Seal bag and shake, coating chicken well. Place nuggets into hot oil and cook until brown. Drain and enjoy with your choice of dipping sauces. No 911 required.

  20. Hell, just get a Southern Style Chicken sandwich meal. Those are good. This $h! of "if I can't get no nuggets, I don't want NOTHIN'" seems a bit ridiculous.
  21. This car will not go down in value at this point. It's in beautiful physical condition. If it is as good mechanically, I'd say the price is on the money. If you can do it, do it! I'd love to have it myself.
  22. Mine said 67F yesterday.
