  2. Ooo... Saturn El Camino!
  3. I saw one in this color, up on a display platform in front of a dealership on the way up to camp. You're right, it does stand out. Very nice.
  4. Oh man that's beautiful, sort of reminds me of Marina Blue, a popular color from the 60's.

  7. The USA is the world's biggest single automotive market. To kill brands because they aren't sold outside this country is stupid, imo. Likewise, it would be disastrous to kill every GM brand outside the USA and replace them with Chevrolet and Cadillac. The pompous asses at Toyota have multiple brands in their home market and in other countries, for example. I am trying to understand the motivation behind such a dimbulb move.
  8. ...or a Maserati Quattroporte?
  9. reg, you've got all the jokes. :AH-HA_wink: I believe the 4 cylinder is available primarily for overseas markets, I am sure Dodge knows most Americans will opt for the 3.5L. I wish we had the turbodiesel and manual transaxle available here though (especially with the 4, to give it a peppy feel), that would really set the Journey apart from the crowd. As far as "natural competitors" go, this thing manages to straddle the Edges and Rav4s of the market nicely, it truly is "right-sized" for a lot of folks.

  11. CMG, what if the plywood spoiler is wrapped in duct tape? Mr. Fly, it actually took me a few seconds to even realize there was an HHR in that picture, blinded as I was by that awesome LeSabre convertible. I also like Mr. Snider's suggestion about a Buick commercial explaining origins of the portholes.
  12. I just edited my post above with another (perhaps to GM) compelling reason to make it a GMC.
  13. After railing against GM's decision to barely change the Holden sedan to import it as a Pontiac, I am kind of relieved that the Ute won't be imported as a Chevy. Chevrolet has a new set of style identifiers to define the brand. A GMC in this unique segment has a clean slate. With little investment from the Aussie version, a GMC Syclone (PERFECT name, K.C.) could be given a face that links to the Acadia. And since it will be sold as a GMC, it won't be hurt as much by AU production constraints as a Chevy El Camino would, re: lower volume brand. If the Ute sells well as a GMC, perhaps a version of it will be built with Chevrolet styling DNA in NA in a few years, similar to what we've heard for Pontiac's G8. Another reason: technical information and technician training for the Aussie G8 can easily be transferred to a GMC version of the Ute, since it will be sold in the same dealership... why send all those Chevy mechanics to school on this when BPG techs will already be schooled in it? Now we're going to have to ask some of our talented choppers to put a GMC face on this handsome new Ute, just to see how it would look.

    Bulge!

Good photos. Funny you post pics of the bulging Solstice headlight, as I was transfixed by that same design element on one in the showroom while I was getting my truck serviced a couple of weeks ago. I like how it's squared-off at the top outer corner, then round everywhere else.
  15. Usually, door dings consist of a small dent and a paint mark from the other vehicle. Lacquer thinner on a rag should take the paint mark off, leaving the tiny dent, which is much less visible. Not sure about the rub strip without seeing it.
  16. Nicer looking than the '08 Equinox, but as with those pics, these 18 inch rims look little, even with the lowered suspension. This thing would look tougher with 20s.
  17. Holy heck, is that Golden Teal, a color available on the HHR for 2007? Maybe I'm a sucker for "the latest thing", but the Equinox seems stale to me now, and those altezza taillights still suck after 8 years. Give me a Dodge Journey with a cooler in the floor!
  18. Very sharp all around. I thought so from the spy shots. After THREE thunderstorms last night stuck in my tent, something like this would be a nice vehicle for camping, and all-around use. The floor-mounted cooler is badass. I hope the third seat is optional, all I'd want would be a 5 seater. EDIT: Well, the text article did not appear on my screen when I first posted this. Now that I've read it, I understand a whole lot more. No need for a SWB Caravan when this thing has so much minivan-like capability, coupled with SUV looks and attitude. Nice planning on Chrysler's part, with the decline of the minivan market in general. They've hit a sweet spot in the market.

  20. Custom-S, you can come along if you want. There are all sorts of Woodstock-related activities planned. It should be fun. PM me or meet me on MSN for directions to get there.
  21. Thanks, Camino, you're alright. I don't care what Custom-S says about you! :AH-HA_wink:
  22. Do I really sound like I keep hitting the "rewind" button? Bob's first sentence is true, I admit that. I take no offense to it. WPB's right about Bob too, though. I know I'm a good person. Maybe I need to stop worrying about this whole thing and just live my life. I never wanted to "shout" anything to the world. I am more "out" here than anywhere else, except maybe that darned campground. (Speaking of which, it's Woodstock Weekend up there this weekend, I might just pack my sh*t and go!)
  23. The most mature car in the segment. Makes the pathetic new Aveo look like a kiddie kar. Love it!
  24. Sir, you don't have to buy a car to get a check. I will send you a damned check if you go away. Your posts are seering my retinas with their candella.
