  1. yes caddy needs a plan already! heck, even recently i read on leftlanenews.com that caddy is either going to make a car similar to the cien or the 16! come on! both projects were axed a long time ago and they were both stellar projects - so build both! as for caddy needing a car below the cts... well if they move the cts up to the 5 series level then yes there is a place for a new entry level car. if not i'm not so certain that they need one. pontiac needs one and they can share the platform with saturn and whoever else wants in but i don't think that caddy needs it... just maybe not one that might fit a base pontiac rwd car... as far as the bls goes... it needs to die and fast! it's ugly and has no appeal to the market it's in and would not sell well here either.
  2. it's not bad but caddy needs the cts wagon to be more like the magnum with a "chopped" top look. if they keep this look all i'll ever think is whose riding around with the casket in the back?
  3. love it! i can totally see a gm come back in the US if they keep bringing over nice opels like this!
  4. i would much rather have a diesel engine than a hybryd engine and they've needed a diesel option for the small trucks for a long time! i would rather see this take off over hybrid technology! and why can't gm use a urea injection like mb does to kill the bad exhaust?
  5. yeah i guess that i didn't truely think it through but i still think that an option similar to this would make the most sense for the DTS. as far as cost goes, split it with buick and develop the platform to be a universal platform that can carry several cars off the buick line and possibly a large car for saab above the 9-5. well i would say that audi isn't doing so bad with it's fwd/awd cars. i think that buick can be taken seriously as a mid-lux car competitor world wide. caddy fills the lux market and gm doesn't need 2 lux car companies and they really don't need to compete with themself by making buick less expensive versions of caddy cars.
  6. i don't think that they need a fwd car. make all of pontiac rwd and get rid of the g5!
  7. i love it! yes the fron end isn't conventional but that's exactly why i like it. who needs a car that looks like everyother car on the road. this better come here as the next saturn aura - or a refresh. the aura NEEDS this interior! it also shows that gm can build nice interiors. now they just need to put them into production!
  8. not 100% sold on that idea. yes they could get rid of all fwd caddy's but i think that they should keep the DTS and put it on the enclave/acadia/outlook platform with fwd or awd. buick can piggyback on this platform for a large sedan as well. using this platform should offer an inexpensive alternative to making a new platform for the dts and lower the price on the dts. yes that's right i said lower the price. lexus can do it with their entry level cars (1 rwd = is and 1 fwd = es). so keep the price low and sell a lot of them to people still looking for fwd or awd big cars. then offer a uls as a top of the line and put it on a stretched zeta platform and offer awd. oh, and yes, bring over the sls as the sts replacement or make it an option that doesn't break the bank! as for the fwd/rwd debate, i would suggest this: chevy gets: new maro, new impala, and vette, all rwd w/ awd option for impala. fwd w/ awd option for the rest caddy to goes: cts, sts-l or sls, and uls as rwd w/ awd options, xlr keeps just rwd, and a dts replacement as fwd w/ awd option pontiac to go all rwd! and give it a magnum like wagon g8 and move the vibe to chevy and ax the torent saturn: sky and maybe a range topper on the zeta for rwd and the rest fwd w/ awd option buick: all fwd w/ awd options on all! saab: all fwd w/ awd options on all!
  9. i think it's a good idea to spread costs and such across as much as you can but could you build a true s-class or 7 series car on a zeta platform? i would like to see a uls 4 door and possibly a uls coupe with a base v8 and either a big 8 or little 12 for a top of the line.
  10. i like the exterior color - they should make it an option on the 9-3 'vert. the wheels are nice too but i don't think that they would ever make into production at that size. and even though they haven't converted the headlights to the aero-x style, these are a lot better than the current. other than that i like the idea of corn fuel but it needs to be more efficient and get more hp or it'll never catch on.
  11. they should have just used the grill and headlights off the aero-x concept. imo the 9-3 sport combi looks too much like the 9-2x.
  12. happened to my girl's saab too. although i didn't see this often when i worked at a saab dealer we did see a lot of them being stolen. you can't get a new "sticker" but you can get a new emblem and just pop the old one off. i would suggest heating it up and using fishing line to cut through the double sided tape.
  13. i would like the twins to look a bit more like fraternal than identical like they do now. the styling isn't bad but it needs to be updated a bit. as far as the mpg's go it's a truck! it's not going to get econobox mpg but i would like to see it in the mid to high 20's in v6 guise with a 6 speed auto - even a 5 speed would be better than what they have now! give it a nicer interior like their big brother's and offer a small 8 with AFM and a 6, set up one for tq and towing and another for a street sport version.
  14. i know that dealerships are constantly being told to update and if they don't i know that gm puts some pressure on them and does have some right to pull their dealer rights.
  15. yeah i have an hsbc online savings account and the "normal rate" is 5.05% and the promotion rate is 6%. the promotion ends in a few months but it will then revert back to the normal rate which is still the best in the industry.
  16. well that's why the kapa chasis is the perfect fit. it's small enough to compete with the audi and mb but it's got a little too little trunk room. if they could just make the trunk just a bit more reasonable they could od it. heck, they are building $20K base pontiacs and $25K saturns on this platform why not jazz it up a bit and make a ton of money for cadillac! you could easily charge $30K for a base and $40-$45K for a loaded model. if they did this they wouldn't be able to keep them on the lots! why wouldn't they, well as it is the platform isn't big enough for a real trunk and the xlr would have to become a really unique and special car for people who have the extra money and are brand loyal not to buy the smaller car. this would make for even more reason to redesign the xlr and make it a true mb and bmw contendr!
  17. yeah or a 2-tone optoin and the nav system better be an option! that sucks. i guess that they are trying to keep it sporty. and i hope that the base tails are the ones from the ss. i like those much better than the "clear" ones... but maybe i'll change my mind once i see them in person.
  18. well cadillac redesigned the interior of the srx as well as made some minor changes to the exterior. why shouldn't they keep the "halo" vehicle fresh and desireable too? now i truely don't think that they will do anything with it other than offering maybe a different interior color or wood something like that but i really think that they need to. with the cts being redesigned and the srx getting a new interior the xlr is the only one without an interior refresh. why not now?
  19. the interior is the first thing to be updated should be the interior but i would like the exterior to get more of a cien look and feel. it should be more than just an angular vette. lets give it a look of it's own already!
  20. gm shold offer more diesel cars and trucks in europe and give us the option as well. mb is bringing out the bluetech in the states why shouldn't gm have something that can compete? here as well.
  21. while it would take some work i think that it would be a good fit in the caddy line up. look at mercedes, bmw and audi - they all have middle of the road roadsters. and bmw and audi are sticking with a rag top why shouldn't caddy do the same. and i think that they should go with the 2 V6 line up and if they wanted a V-version they could just drop in an 8! it's been done why not from the factory!
  22. http://www.gminsidenews.com/naias/revitalization/saabria/ i found this on another saab site and i would love for the next wave of saabs to look like this! i would go with a 5 car line up: 9-1 or 9-2: based on the opel astra, 3 and 5 door models with 2 turbo I4's. fwd or awd. 9-3: sedan, sport combi and vert. I4 and V6 turbos with a viggen as the top of the line V6 turbo with 300+ hp and awd. fwd and awd. 9-4: 9-3 or theta based 4 door small crossover. give it an I4 and V6 turbo models and a diesel for europe (and i would like to see one in the us too). fwd and awd. 9-5: sedan and sport combi. 2 different turbo V6 options with a diesel and twin turbo V6 for the viggen. fwd and awd. 9-6: larger 9-5 based crossover. 2 different turbo V6 options and a diesel for europe (and agin i would like to see one for the us market as well). fwd and awd. that's how i would go. no need for a roadster and keep the 9-5 the flagship car of saab!
  23. with the new tt coming out, bmw with their z4 and mercedes with their small sports coupe, why shouldn't caddy fill a gap in their line up with a kappa car of their own... i'm no good at photoshop but it's not hard to imagine. they would have to add some new caddy style like the vents from the cts and they should keep it a soft top but stretch it a bit or redesign it a little to give it a bit more useable trunk space. either two turbo models or take the new line of v6s from the cts. just take the front and back from the 16 and put it on a sky. even the front of the 16 has a lower grill for the intercooler for the turbo: i would also like to see the xlr get more of a cien look to it in the future. it shouldn't look like a more angular vette but rather completely different. and i know that they wouldn't but with the audi r8 coming out caddy really needs to take another look at the cien.
