  1. There's a pic in the "Barn door" thread.
  2. Yeah, but the deal was too good to pass up. With good tires and functional 4x4, snow will not be a problem. The Tahoe is now worlds better than it was this morning. -good tires -I discovered the source of the nasty vibration it had while it was on the lift and fixed it( the idiot who replaced the transfer case before I bought it forgot to tighten the bolts holding in the rear U-joint and it had become very loose) -The same fool had turned the idle up for some reason. -Inspection and emissions are now done -4x4 is now functional (actuator was bad) It's like a completely different vehicle now. A good day.
  3. Just got a deal on 4 OEM aluminum rims with good tires for $200. Going that route for now.
  4. I may have found another option.
  5. After seeing the scene in daylight this morning, I think I have figured out how it happened. I think the Explorer must have done an unintentional "pit manuever" at speed on the X5, causing it to pivot to the right and up the embankment. The tree has a major scar from where it stopped the X5. The jolt must have been major.
  6. The only question here is how long Toyota will dump money into this brand before they kill it. My guess is that this won't be the long, drawn-out, battle that Saturn was with GM. Toyota will likely try one more "re-invention" of Scion, and then throw in the towel.
  7. On rt252 not far from my place. Somehow a BMW X5 ended-up being 90 degrees out from the roadway with its nose up a 45 degree embankment after a collision with a Ford Explorer and possibly another car. The X5 was entirely off of the road with its nose against a tree. Must have been something to see happen, the physics of it all puzzle me. Be safe everyone.
  8. The Healey 100-4, and 100-6 cars are the spartan ones - a 3000 is another story.
  9. With the Healeys, you almost need to be there in person - pics tend to make them look a bit flat designwise. The pic I posted is particularly lousy (couldn't find a good one of the "S").
  10. I said this would happen when they launched this silly brand.
  11. ...for the Tahoe. They are cheap, and have good reviews (Firestone Winterforces). Opinions?
  12. Interesting perspective on the Healey, Balthazar. What you see as a lack of detailing is the very same clean design that makes me like it. The car does have some detailing, but it is subtle and applied sparingly. The car's purposeful nature extends to the shape and lack of ornamentation, making it stand out from the crowd of overdone cars of the time. I like the '55 Chevy and the early V8 Corvettes for exactly the same reason. I grew-up with cars that were often over-detailed with rust-creating trim and chrome everywhere, so clean and subtle has a strong appeal for me. It's not a universal thing, as I love a few cars that are over-the-top, but in general I like the clean look.
  13. The right tool makes all the difference.
  14. Yes, the GXP targa is an instant collectible. It's beautiful, and I would love to own one just on general principles.
  15. '55 Austin-Healey 100 S : By CaminoLS6 Better have about half a million on hand if you want one.
  16. Loosen the other mounting bolts for the alternator a bit more, and see if that gives you more movement.

  20. Hmm, maybe this should morph into a picture thread...
  21. Neat! I look forward to your review.
  22. That sums my fears up quite well, Caddycruiser. The only G8 I'll ever seek out would be a GXP, not so much for the rarity, but for the manual. Otherwise, I just couldn't do the sedan thing. If I ever see one in Pacific Slate, I may do something irrational to get my hands on it. I'm still crushed that the ST never saw the light of day.
  23. Full-size vans are a PITA due to the layout. I've had my gripes with serp belts, I may invest in the proper tool for that job.
  24. Most of the "porkier" shapes of that decade do nothing for me, thus the list I posted earlier. The 60s are another story entirely, I'm a kid in the candy store there.
  25. Annoying! Sounds like afterthought tech to me. I just remembered all of the room under the hood of an Impala SS, and couldn't imagine how this could be. Thanks for the info.
