  1. You know what, guys? I think this thread is getting a bit tired. After all, it is serving as the catchall for all things political. Perhaps we should start a new thread (or threads) with somewhat tighter focus. Generalities tend to cause grief.
  2. It's here too,Ocn. Nothing but rain of varying intensities most of the day. Now it is a pretty steady downpour with the winds increasing (I may not have power soon). Oh, and the driveway is becoming one with the pond next to it.
  3. I think you are dead wrong on this one, my friend. In fact, to paint McCain with the same brush as Bush does the man a gross disservice- no matter what you might think of his policies.
  4. Especially when Holden has been the only GM brand keeping the cars I love alive. Ticks me off.
  5. I would be very surprised if the aftermarket doesn't supply a hardtop for the vert. Hell, GM might even do it as an accessory - much like they did for the SCCA Solstice. Of course, it would be recommended "for off-road use only".
  6. I don't want more oil to flow from elsewhere - I want that replaced with domestic sources of energy. Permanently. And immediately.
  7. Too bad all Americans aren't born with that understanding.
  8. Well, that took long enough! :AH-HA_wink: ...and get this ...I really like it. I've been eyeballing those new coupes alot lately (plenty of them to see around here). Congrats on a very nice ride.
  9. That misses my point entirely.
  10. See? Our viewpoints aren't terribly far apart. :AH-HA_wink: On the "addendum" I added, I just feel that these two points are critical and have gone unaddressed by the candidates so far. On the debt issue, I recognize the gravity of the problem and agree that it must be a high priority item. However, I place the energy issue above it as I see it as even more manipulative than the US' financing arrangements, as a national security issue, and as an anchor holding the economy back. Imagine the instant economic bonus of energy independence and the attendant psychological boost that it would give us all. I want to see that now!
  11. Adapted/edited to be closer to my viewpoint. I would also add this: 5. Recognizes the strategic necessity of moving enough of our oil and gas infrastructure beyond the reach of Gulf hurricanes. And, the serious need to expand the refining capabilities of the nation.
  12. For me, this time, the most important issue is an energy policy. I have yet to hear a comprehensive plan, adequately illustrated, by either party. But, I believe that both will have to offer such a plan sooner rather than later. That is a ray of hope.
  13. Suggestion: Forget the individuals involved for a while and post what you want from your next administration. For myself, I will be waiting for some time yet before deciding my vote. I am certain that much remains to be learned.
  14. It's not trivia, it's heritage. And we should try to be as accurate about it as possible.
  15. One other quick aside: Do you guys realize that both candidates are somewhat hostile to both the automotive industry and our hobby? In my book that counts for something as well.
  16. I think I need to see them on the car to decide...
  17. Living near the largest city in a "battleground state", I can report that all of the campaign ads I've seen in the last few weeks have been negative. McCain is no more guilty than Obama in this respect. LOKI: As for what I like/don't like, I wish that I had time to post it all. Suffice it to say that I see fatal flaws in both parties, and yet I will vote in the end so I have to make a choice. I usually vote my conscience (Libertarian), but I am trying to look at this election as objectively as I can because I feel that we are truly at a crossroads this go 'round. My vote won't be decided for some time yet. I'll post more when the rest of my life quiets down a bit.
  18. Sounds sadly accurate to me.
  19. McCain has been around too long to simply dump her if he decides that she is a liability - she will cite personal reasons for her withdrawal from consideration. :AH-HA_wink: Even so, I doubt that she's going anywhere as she has "pacified the base" for him already. That is the only reason she was chosen rather than Lieberman (who McCain really wanted). I am bit disappointed that he didn't take the gutsy route and choose Lieberman, that would have been the centrist ticket of the century. But the right-wing nutjobs have so compromised the Republican party that I guess he just couldn't make that one fly. Too bad.
  20. Cadillac and GME are a real pain in the ass.
  21. Wow! This is a first. I think that I'm more optimistic than the rest of this crowd. I see huge positives as well as huge negatives to both major party candidates, but I see a better future either way. Both of these two outclass Bush by an order of magnitude.
  22. Thanks for the feedback! Just to clarify, the orange would be '06 GTO Brazen orange metallic and the white would be a white pearl.
  23. I think I'm leaning toward the white with orange outline. Opinions?
  24. This is getting interesting.
