  1. Pontiac really ought to be an oasis of cool in the desert of blandmobiles. The one brand that doesn't play by the rules. I don't think that is asking too much.
  2. Internally? Sounds like some surgery is in order - there is a cancer to remove in there.
  3. Very, very, nicely done. While I do miss the aggressive style of the concept, the insanely excellent detailing saves the design. Now about that coupe...
  4. I can't argue with that recipe, Ocn.
  5. Happy Birthday GM! 100 years in this crazy place is one hell of a milestone.
  6. If things actually go that way, I guess I'll just have to buy my last GM car and remember when I cared.
  7. And likely give the buyer a major tax credit.
  8. Quoted as more words are no longer necessary. Sad day, indeed.
  9. And GME and Cadillac offer nothing I'd want or need. Or would "settle for" for that matter. Pontiac does.
  10. Well, whoever made this decision had to have been intoxicated. It's just plain stupid.
  11. The only car brands that should get RWD on a regular basis are Chevy, Pontiac, and Cadillac. Caddy and Pontiac should be almost entirely RWD, Chevy should get its traditional RWDs, and the occasional model should show up elsewhere (Buick Riviera).
  12. That may not be true any longer with the GP gone. At any rate, it doesn't share the basement with Caddy as far as sales go. And Saab, and Hummer, and Saturn. See my point? Caddy is the spoiled brat of the GM family.
  13. NO! In fact, the alpha Buick should go to Pontiac instead. WTF do Buick buyers care about RWD? Moronic.
  14. Which reflects the stupidity of the decision makers. Pontiac is the third best selling GM division behind Chevy and GMC.
  15. Nowhere near as much as the brands it steals resources from. Pontiac, in particular, has been shortchanged because Cadillac is someone's pet. That disgusts me.
  16. Keyword: trying Cadillac is just the prima dona division. It costs too much and returns too little.
  17. Like I said, I prefer the '55 - but the icon is the '57. The birth of the smallblock certainly is the watershed event of GM's history in my book though.
  18. Cadillac? As if that brand really has the power to help GM along. I'm so sick of Cadillac being given way too much importance in future plans. Oh, and the 5th gen will sell quite nicely.
  19. I should have said real IFS. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. Who was responsible for this list? Pretty lame overall, but what really raised an eyebrow was that they chose a '55 over a '57 as the Icon of the type? Please. I actually prefer the '55, but let's be real. No '69 Camaro? How about the first pickup with ABS, or the first 4x4 pickup with IFS? I'll stop now.
  21. Not selling? Can't you read? When 10 out of twelve thousand have sold, your statement really makes you look like a fool. Anyway, no ads around here but plenty on the road. The BPG dealer had a whole line of G8s about a month ago and when I went by a day or so ago there was only one on the lot. Interestingly, there were two used GTOs out front that weren't there before.
  22. Some of the comments over there had me rolling.
  23. Biggest sales year was '79 with 282,000 sold. In a deep recession, with high fuel prices and unemployment. Just some perspective for ya.
  24. Actually, not all that many have even gotten here yet. About 10k have been sold and only about 12K have been imported to the US. That includes both the 2008 and the 2009. Some dealers are just now getting their first G8. Not bad for a nearly unadvertised new model introduced into the toughest market in years. To base any assessment of Pontiac (or GM for that matter) on G8 sales to date is just foolish.
  25. Huge event at Indy should be giving us quite a bit more to look at shortly.
