  1. The G8 version will likely be slightly different weightwise. But not enough to really matter. What's the sedan's weight?
  2. I have to admit something here. I just don't care for the Lambdas, and I'm sure that is coloring my opinion. They look like giant beetles to me, as do most crossovers. Don't get me wrong, I don't think they are bad vehicles, they just instantly turn me off.
  3. Not much of a TV watcher (in fact many of the one's you guys listed I've never heard of). I do like the CSIs, Without A Trace, Cold Case and some others, but I don't watch anything regularly. Lately I've been watching C-Span to see who, exactly, is screwing us over.
  4. Don't forget about the accellerating development of alternative fuels. Our choices can widen again if they meet their promise.
  5. Regular. LS3 likely will be premium
  6. Great post Enzl! And... damn... we agree again. :AH-HA_wink:
  7. No need to be sorry. Yes, I believe it is lighter but I don't have the numbers. Try the Holden site and do the conversions.
  8. Hard to say. In Oz, the Ute is less expensive than the sedan. Here, we can only hope that holds true

  10. Death is a bit harsh for the rest of the folks mentioned (Osama excepted). But, I would wish being publically discredited with the attendant loss of influence on most of those listed. I would add quite a few others such as: Al Gore Nancy Pelosi Barbara Boxer Ted Kennedy The list goes on and on...
  11. Looks that way! http://www.g8board.com/forums/showpost.php...mp;postcount=84
  12. I would push Osama.
  13. I really believe that the Escalade's day in the sun is over and that the Denali covers it nicely. As I said before, the standard Escalade could remain for a transition year or two to handle remaining demand. The zeta-based replacements would represent the brand more faithfully IMO, and could be marketed as upscale of the Escalade. Agreed on the ST and El Camino. You know I'd love to see an El Camino sooner rather than later, but it makes sense to let the current G8 family run its course first. As the ST leaves, the GTO could return. The size shift you endorse might make sense for a second gen zeta. My main thought here is that lambda is too new to be replaced at all. The Enclave is a raging success that should be left as is for some time yet. Perhaps a melding of the two could occur when the time comes, but the ungainly nature of such vehicles as the Ridgeline should be avoided IMO. Understood on the Lucerne/PA thing.
  14. I'm not certain that I understand your meaning entirely, but no "Buickman" charade is in the plan here. This is simply an exploration of the options for a ready platform and how it might help GM to deal with CAFE.

    Ducks

I grew up with a pond in the backyard, so I've seen this many times. It's even funnier when the geese do it - sometimes they really tumble.
  16. I look forward to seeing it in person, I was very happy with my GTO's interior. Looks great in pics, so I hope for the best.

  18. The thinking just has to shift. Zeta is an extremely viable platform for applications other than Camaro. Alpha could have a great future, but we should get the zetas now. A sixth gen Camaro on Alpha sounds perfect to me as a place to begin.
  19. Cats and Alaskan Malamutes don't mix. So, no. No cats.
  20. Essentially what I propose here would merge the SRX and Escalade lines, i think the Escalade fad has just about run its course. The standard Escalade could remain for a year or during the transition, but the EXT and LWB model should go immediately. Pontiac needs the ST right now more than Chevy needs the El Camino (though it pains me to say so). Impala would be duplicative as related to G8, and I have to assume that GM plans to go ahead with the next gen on FWD, so I limited it to a LWB Caprice in low numbers and based on the Statesman. If I had to choose one model to cancel in my original array, this would be the one. Park Avenue yes (based on the HSV Grange) - Lucerne and Enclave no The GTO/GN thing would likely have to wait for a Shift in the Zeta mix, I think a Luxury oriented Riviera would be a better place to start for Buick. When/if Camaro shifts to Alpha, GTO becomes a good choice. A Lambda pickup is a bad idea IMO, Like the Ridgeline it would be trying to be something it isn't. The Colorado on Zeta is in line with the game plan though - or could be. Tahoe would not go away, just be more limited in volume - except for the hybrid.
  21. Actually, 3 plants on two continents, and in three countries are already being readied (in Holden's case already in production)for Zeta production. So your concerns are a non-issue.
  22. Great input everyone, keep it coming. If you guys know me, I left out many, many, versions I personally would like to see. I did this to limit any duplication accross the brands, with the exception of the AWD (yes zeta is engineered to be AWD capable) crossovers/utilities/wagons. Those I gave to Caddy, GMC, and Chevy so that replacing the truck/suv lines would have the necessary impact on CAFE to make this a viable plan. The cool part of all of this (as Z alluded to) is that it would be exteremely flexible and able to add/subtract, shift production locations, adjust production mix, etc. constantly to meet the need. As illustrated by the Turbo 6 idea for the Riviera, a huge potential for differentiation exists as well. If CAFE can be balanced by the reduction of large truck and SUV sales and the addition of small, fuel efficient cars at the other end of the range Zeta could be a huge, versatile, adaptable, hit for GM.
  23. Obviously you get it - unlike some.
  24. Wait and see what happens with the GMC, you might get everything you want from that one, if they build it.
  25. How about an exclusive Turbo V6?
