  1. That sort of BS is why the government pisses me off so much. They need to expunge those rules PRONTO! Stupid, just stupid.
  2. That's good, the aftermarket needs to be in on it too - but the politicians won't take it seriously if the OEMs aren't part of the plan.
  3. The big challenge would be to get the brain-dead politicians to understand the positives.
  4. Just read your edit, that's why it needs to be an OEM thing (at least at first).
  5. Not OEM, right?
  6. Details?
  7. What really has me so ticked-off is the stupidity of our so-called leaders. These idiots think that revisiting a proven failure (CAFE) is going to solve the problem. They are the most guilty of "failure mentality" and have proven that they don't believe in the resourcefulness of their own people by defaulting to this tired old idea when innovation is so deperately needed. Their uninformed, knee-jerk responses to so many issues smack of the sort of thinking that led to the decline of far older empires.
  8. Gotta love FOG - so skilled at going over the top to drive a point home. The way I see it is that we can innovate and take ourselves to a higher level, or roll over and die. I'll take the former, thank you.
  9. Because advances in alternative fuel technology are happening on a near daily basis and a critical mass of need and economic viability is gathering quickly. Very simply, we must - so we will. There are a multitude of approaches, but this is my favorite: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=21018
  10. Not true. We can and will replace oil.
  11. I'm sure some of you are aware that from time-to-time GM performance parts develops packages for past models to increase performance legally. The kits meet all federal requirements just as the original equiptment did. Installling them voilates no regulations as they are engineered by the OEM to meet all standards. My idea is that GM (and all OEMs for that matter) should develop retrofit kits of this sort to allow existing cars and trucks to run on alternative fuels. This would further the cause of getting alternative fuel infrastructure up and running by expanding the customer base much faster. The government could help by removing any regulatory roadblocks that might exist and by incentivising the development of such kits with CAFE and or Tax credits.
  12. I suppose he would.
  13. Easy Ocn, are you trying to provoke me to violence? :AH-HA_wink:
  14. Hmm, seems the old reaction time needs some work.
  15. Jeers: To Congress and the president for acting like CAFE does a damn bit of good.
  16. Read this: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=21765 Then at least you can attack me for the positions I actually advocate.
  17. That is the sum total of its value. Yet, the consequences make a long list.
  18. You know nothing about me or my position on such things- you'd be surprised if you did. However, I feel absolutely no guilt about the fate of the rest of the world and will not dumb-down my expectations in some PC illusion of fairness.
  19. It's time to make a national mission out of alternative fuels - ones that can be adapted to the existing fleet and eliminate oil as a political and economic ball and chain.
  20. It is. When only 28% of the population even bothers to vote, it's easy to see where the blame lies.
  21. And alternative fuel for national security. And alternative fuel for economic strength. And alternative fuel for the environment. How about we work on increasing our standard of living instead of parting it out like an 88 Accord?
  22. I've just about reached the end of my tolerance for the way society is headed. This constant drumbeat of defeat and capitulation to the way things are makes me ill. I think it's way past time to flip them all the bird and start making changes. We need to toss all of the PC crap out the window, take the gloves off, and force a shift.
  23. "Send in the clowns..."
  24. Seems to me that the country is full of Surrender Monkeys that are willing to accept decline as their fate.
