  1. Not to mention that there is some question as to who outsold who in this market.
  2. Can you clarify?
  3. Or the Marshall plan.
  4. Both were treated with extreme urgency - that's the point. We need to get on with it using maximum effort. Now. If you like, use the Manhattan Project as a template.
  5. Hardly. The regs affect product planning immediately - even retroactively in a sense. Planned products will be modified /cancelled because of this. Even worse, personnel changes will be influenced. Meeting the new standards isn't so much of an issue as how they will be met.
  6. I can see that if production capacity of the material is limited, not otherwise. If you offer to switch to a supplier's material from a more conventional material on a large scale, you will certainly have leverage on price.
  7. I see it differently. A fast revolution in fuel types, supply, and infrastructure is the way to go. We should treat it with the same urgency as the Cold War or the space race.
  8. Your last point is a good one,Northie. Economies of scale could definitely help in bringing the price of lightweight materials down to a more reasonable level.
  9. How we view it isn't the issue, how GM management does is. Who is in charge will make all the difference. EDIT: Let's just say that CAFE makes a great scapegoat for other agendas.
  10. I remember Lutz saying something like" we are trying like hell to get it done by the end of 2010" quite a while back. The "hedging" characterization is just BS. There is no news in this article, even if they make the late 2010 target, the car would obviously be a 2011 model year offering.
  11. What bland taste most Americans have.
  12. The mid to late '70's Sevilles are another candidate.
  13. The late Allante with the Northstar solved most of its issues just before cancellation. Those will likely hold some value.
  14. It never had a carb. All Chevy full-size Chevy trucks have been fuel-injected since the 1987 model year.
  15. Conservation cannot solve the problem.
  16. I would really like more detail on the other cars on that trailer.
  17. This belongs in this thread:
  18. Story has already been posted.
  19. I bet you won't see orange until the convertible debuts.
  20. This is one of those cars that look very different depending on color. So far, darker colors seem to do it more justice than light ones. But I'd have to see the colors on actual cars to decide what I like.
  21. If the V8 dies it will be murder rather than natural causes.
  22. In its current form, the G8 can't be built in Oshawa - Holden's VE and GMNA's version of zeta aren't exactly the same. Also, Holden is under contract to build the car at this time. Down the road it could make sense, however. Of course that would require keeping the Holden-hating GME folks away.
  23. The race will be over, and Toyota will win if GME rules the roost.
  24. The Ute looks huge because it is an HSV version which has lots of additional exterior add-ons. As for the Camaro interior - much of what you see is just off-the-shelf stuff that isn't even meant for the car. The rest is made of placeholder pieces that don't reflect the final product in fit, finish or quality. To judge it now is foolishness.
  25. Yeah, you know, the pointless brands.
