  1. From an American perspective, Holden requires a tiny amount of volume to remain in the black. One good export program to North America would do the job nicely...
  2. Even if they really believe that a 45% one-year increase is possible, making that sort of claim publically was quite stupid. They will look likes asses when they fail to reach such a lofty goal.
  3. Alpha is the natural home for a Camaro, but Zeta would have made one hell of a Chevelle!
  4. This is the sort of innovation worth applauding.
  5. Hyper, your description of the sketch sound alot like what I thought I was seeing under the camo in the spy pics. If that's the case, then thumbs up! I saw the ZL-1 comparo vs. the Boss, and did find it impressive (figured you'd post about it). So much for the description of Zeta as "archaic" as some would have it around here.
  6. I called this one... No surprise to me that this happened, but as I said back when Toyota unseated GM, don't count on anyone hanging on to the sales title for very long anymore. GM's record in holding the title for decades is unlikely ever to be matched.
  7. Having only seen 2 so far, the fact that they sold almost 20k is a surprise to me.
  8. Yes, and sharper creases too. I hope those two trends continue.
  9. The camo is really heavily padded, which almost makes it look like something leaner in a C6 fat suit. Makes me wonder if this new Corvette may sport a leaner look without the huge rear end of the current car. Something also makes me think that rear glass styling will be something new as well. Overall, it leads me to believe that the C7 will be a much more svelte Corvette. I hope that's the case.
  10. Glad to hear it!
  11. Maybe. The Tahoe really runs great right now - no complaints there. Installed the O2 this morning, but have to wait until Tuesday to get my stickers.
  12. Cheers from me also - despite the lack of 4WD. Super clean towbeast.
  13. I never poo pooed those renewables - far from it. And my position on hydrogen is dependent upon generation via a method that is efficient (the algae farts are). Otherwise why bother with hydrogen? Once that is achieved, hydrogen is a limitless resource - thus the comment about wasting it being absurd. We only differ on how to use it - I want to use it directly in ICEs. It would be wonderful - no more shrinking cars and shrinking horsepower, no more emissions woes, no more foreign oil. Cars powered by ICEs could be soooo much nicer again. I want that, whether or not electric cars are also around.
  14. I should have gone to Happy Hour! Royal pain in the backside, but the Tahoe now has a new exhaust from front to back. I'll pick-up the new O2 sensor in the morning and that should be that - I'll finally get my stickers.
  15. ...and it's fighting me. Did I ever mention how much I hate working on exhaust systems? Had to order a new O2 sensor as the old one isn't coming out, and one exhaust stud snapped (par). I drilled out the old one and now have to run for a tap. Grrr.
  16. Done. I do have reservations as intellectual property rights are being trampled, but this bill trouncing civil liberties isn't the way to fix that! Remember though, this is the same group of ass-clowns that passed the NDAA - civil liberties are just a complication to them rather than the public trust they ought to be.
  17. Not really, but I had to give it a shot.
  18. Yes, yes it would. Hydrogen-powered ICEs would make me most happy. No batteries! Hydrogen powered ICEs are a waste of fuel because of all of the mechanical inefficiency of the turning engine. The way to take the most advantage of hydrogen is to put it into a fuel cell to run an electric motor instead of burning it in an ICE. Thus regenerative braking can actually re-charge the fuel cell partially. A fuel cell is just a battery that consumes the chemical used to generate the electricity. In a hydrogen fuel cell, the process can be reversed to create more stored hydrogen. "Wasting" hydrogen is almost an absurdity by definition. With a hydrogen-fueled ICE, all we need is a fuel production and supply (and on-board storage) are the only real needs to make it work. A Fuel-cell vehicle needs all of that along with fuel cell development, and electic propulsion development. ICE conversions are far simpler and less expensive with a much closer time to production and even a retro-fit of existing cars and trucks being viable. Gaseous-fueled ICEs are the best of both worlds in my view. And we can have them sooner.
  19. Well, things are never easy. Remember that hollowed-out cat? The Tahoe failed emissions because of it. So I had to bite the bullet and buy a new Y pipe/converter and now have to lie on the cold concrete to replace the perfectly functional Y pipe on there now. Expensive and annoying. Damned emissions crap!
  20. Commodore was the best-selling car for many years running up until just now, its not like it's ancient history! Please.
  21. Never been a Saab fan, but breaking-up the museum collection is just a shame.
  22. That's some epic spin. For how many years was Commodore Australia's best selling car again? Get real.
  23. Because Holden sells cars on every inhabited continent for one thing. Okay, but all of those vehicles sold by manufactured by "Holden" could be made in other places at a cost comparative basis. Last time i checked, Holden is only sold in Australia. Yeah, they have Chevrolets in NA and middle east and Vauxhalls in UK, but manufacturing in the US might make more sense. For some markets, I'm sure it would - for others not so much. But having no homegrown model would surely cripple the brand in Oz.
  24. I know I mentioned it before, but yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if neither one went to production.
