  4. So far, I like both designs to a degree. The press pics are awful though, so all I really have is a first impression. - I like the concept of both cars, but hate the noses on both. - The names are awful. - The pair of them just need a few design tweaks to really look good.

  7. OK, wasted a few more hours on this - and the Mercedes grille seems like a good bet. One other point to note: this car is RHD. I'm betting we can get this one figured out if we work at it. I've been hunting for any car of this era with the styled creases under the doors - can't find a one with this detail.

  9. A narrow nod to the "cheers" side - the car is fantastic, but the price is skewed way too high.
  10. Have to disagree with that last bit somewhat. Even in the last year of production, the Formula was lighter than the T/A and they were always a cleaner look. My reference was vs. the '70; by '81, the Formula had the spoiler, steel Rally IIs, and exhaust splitters (prolly other equipment) standard- just like the T/A. It wasn't as stripped down as the '70 in the video above. Then again- there just wasn't as much of a performance range left, either, so IMO Pontiac gave it some more flash (esp considering it was slotted right below the T/A in price). Standard Formula motor for '81 was the 4.3L V8. Point taken. But right up until the end, (if optioned properly) the Formula still offered a stealthier, and lighter package with T/A performance. The late 4th gen 1LE Formulas are a real treasure (if you can find one).

  12. The Series 1 Shelby is an amazing piece of equiptment - I highly reccomend taking a close look at one if you ever get the chance. It will blow you away with the way it is built in much the same way as a Ford GT does. Under the skin, its true mechanical art. Back when these were new, I got to spend some time really checking them out at Virginia International Raceway when they were there for a vintage event honoring the Shelby marque. Got to meet the man himself and came away with some original brochures for the Series 1. It was a great experience.

  15. Too bad it's an automatic, and that price is too high by quite a bit. Just barely a "jeers" '96 was the first year that the SS Camaro returned after the end of production on the '73s. The right '96 would be a cool buy, but this isnt quite the right one.

  19. I should have copied down the VIN on the Chevelle so I could decode it later...pricing on it seemed pretty crazy to me. That's cheap if it is an LS6 car...
