  1. Looks to me like a cobbled-together front end on something it doesn't belong to. The radiator/grille is a dead ringer for the Scripps-booth town car - but yeah, the rest is just too big.
  2. After a lot of searching, It looks like a Scripps-Booth - nothing else I found has a grille like that.
  3. Huge, whatever it is...
  4. Beautiful bodystyle... kinda weird to see a Formula with hubcaps though. And no spoiler!
  5. Saw it in a recent listing on trademarkia.com
  6. Most of these make my eyes bleed and my stomach churn... But that Benz is kinda cool.
  7. I saw an interesting car for you at my hotel -- an early 60's Ford "Falcon-chero". Black primer, CA black plate, being used as a daily driver. I'm assuming it was a phantom, but looked good. Was gone when I came back to get a picture of it. Not a phantom - the Falcon Ranchero was in regular production through 1964/65 (when the bodystyle changed). It then moved to the midsize platform, where it stayed until the end of production (1979?). EDIT: In fact, you can see one in the James Bond movie Goldfinger.
  8. Patina!
  9. I remember the Scrambler, but I don't remember this one at all.
  10. There is at least one benefit from living in California... I miss seeing car lots like this - used to be plenty around here once upon a time.
  11. Hmmm... Generally speaking, a refinance and longer term aren't good things. But, in your situation, it might just make sense. - A lower payment that you can handle. - A car you know the entire history of. - The balance of your factory warranty. - No disruption that comes with changing vehicles. Think of it like a student loan - an expense you incur now for later benefit. Also, you could apply more payments to the principal of the new loan whenever you have the cash, thus blunting the impact of the increased interest cost. Doing this will also give you the benefit of the original loan showing as paid-off on your credit report. If you do it, you would still have the option to trade the Challenger in for something else later - it would give you time instead of pressuring you to "do something right now". Think about it.
  12. This thing is nuts. A no expense spared project for sure, but with a very limited audience. I wish the owner luck in selling it for anything close to his 90K price. Cheers for the attention to detail, condition, and execution - but jeers on the price, so a qualified "jeers" overall.
  13. Have you considered refinancing the Challenger to get the monthly payment down? It might work - especially if you can throw some cash at it when you refinance. Just throwing another option out there for you.
  14. How do you not notice this during assembly?
  15. This is what the trim panel should look like: It is inset in the concave part of the tailgate which the other panel covers completely.
  16. I don't see anything out of place w/ the tailgate..is it from a different year? And is the grille missing a chunk in the top center, or that a slot to reach for the hood release? Sharp truck. Yes, the aluminum insert is a later style on the tailgate - it should be a narrow strip and inset for this year. Not positive on the grille, but yes, I think a chunk is missing. My '79 didn't have a gap like that as I recall.
  17. Lots of neat stuff in the background of these shots - I'd take the GTO... Nice GP though, cheers.
  18. One year, 1977..very low volume (less than 1400 built), basically production ended when the rear spoiler molding tool broke is what I've read. Olds was the only brand that kept it's muscle trim (442) from '73-77. Chevy dropped the SS after a year or so, Pontiac had the GTO one year, Buick had the GS one or two years.. Except for El Camino, which retained an SS option (or two) right up until the end of production in 1987.
  19. I remember that '58 - incredible workmanship.
  20. Love small planes! A big one is just a bus with wings. Very cool way to spend a day after Christmas - loved the video.
  21. You never fail to make things interesting, CMG!
  22. Something very wrong here...
  23. Can Am was only a one or two year model.
  24. Tailgate isn't original, but a very nice truck indeed.
