June 25, 2011 is the date it originally sold. Check out the CarFax report, it has a fishy beginning (sold new at Criswell Honda? Unless that's a combo Chevy/Honda dealer): http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=SHP_0&vin=6G1MK5E29BL527101

Well of course it's used, it has 13,000 miles on it But as dfelt pointed out, it was originally a private sale which is to say from the pictures that it looks like it has never seen police duty (you can tell that it's a 9C3 detective car, but is still too nice of an interior - factory console, cloth rear seats - to have been used in police services). And when they first hit the dealer's lots some had the sense to spec them out for civilian sales, and got away with it, before GM learned of this news and put an end to it (I think there's an AutoBlog or Jalopnik article to verify this statement). I agree with your first statement, as this dealer is offering it through the Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned program (I'm not positive fleet vehicles qualify for this program, especially used police vehicles). It seems as if he's found a loop hole for this particular unit (maybe because of it's private sale status and not fleet status). I know that the Caprice(LWB) model doesn't offer a wagon, but I'd be just as happy with the Commordore's wagon as I would with this LWB Caprice Still, GM/Chevrolet should have offered the Caprice as the full-size model and put the current Impala to fleet sales only (a'la Captiva). After driving the '13 Ford Taurus, I feel the Impala is a joke (if in the market for a large car today, I wouldn't even consider the Impala and would go right to the LaCrosse).

Link: http://www.autoshopp...MD-17825776.htm Dealer: Fox Chevrolet of Laurel, Laurel, MD Price: $28,994 Mileage: 13,307 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm curious about the GM Certified part... I thought GM was putting a stop to dealers selling the Caprice all together to the civilian market, and this Chevy dealer in Maryland has this under the Chevrolet Certified Pre-Owned program too! I just don't understand why GM/Chevrolet doesn't offer this car for sale here in the US. There has to be a market for it, and I know I'm interested (I would really want the wagon though).

Yeah, the Kappa's are all coming out of the woodwork in southern NJ too. It's the nice weather that brings them out. By the way, that color is called Bluestone Metallic, was offered only in 2007 and had a limited production run (wasn't available until fall of '06, though it was advertised with the February '06 ordering guide). I believe it was cancelled after the '07 build-out. Many people who waited for that color were disappointed, and several that ordered it weren't happy (most had orders waiting - so their car was the first they saw of it). I remember one Bluestone Metallic owner on the SKY forums was absolutely in love with the color - probably only person I knew! http://www.paintscratch.com/touch_up_paint/Saturn/2008-Saturn-Sky-Bluestone-Metallic-Clearcoat-72-WA302N.html

If you buy it, let me know how much you want for the arrow stick on the back, and maybe the lightbar if the lights are in good working condition and the red lens aren't too cloudy.

While that '57 GMC 370 chasis-cab is still on my mind, I found another GMC to take it's primary lust spot: Like Lamar's wife, mine is not thrilled with this truck, even just as a possibility. She too wants me to look at minivans This one is a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2500HD Extended Cab SLT 4WD. The two downfalls for me are that it's not a crew cab and that it's black (not a preferred personal choice of color). I've always liked the '99-'07 design, and even though I'm a fan of the current Sierra I do regret not purchasing a GMT-800 truck when I've had the opportunity. It has 53k miles, is a loaded SLT model, and has the 6.0L V8 engine. I don't need a 2500HD truck by any means, but it's one bad rig and I'm definitely in with it. -
I wish there was a way we could help him with his Monte Carlo storage issue (this is nothing that we weren't already privy too). Anyone have any ideas? He really wants to keep his collection together.

Cheers or Jeers: 17,000 Mile 1985 GMC Sierra 1500

Oh dear God, that's one nice truck!! You're right, thedriver, rally wheels were not a factory option on GMCs of this vintage. These are the standard rims: -
I received an email from Cort. Said he'll be back sometime, but it was definitely good to get a response from him.

That looks so bad ass!! Go for it, Lamar!! -
for a very guys!

Hopefully he's just out there cruising in his MC's before he loses his storage space. Maybe even going as far as taking them out on Route 66. Cause for concern is that he's faced nothing but bad news lately... the heart surgery, the loss of his employment, and the recent news of the loss of his storage space leading to him declaring that he will need to sell off his Monte Carlo collection. Please, if anyone is close enough to where he lives, can you stop by and check in?

I posted the truck above, a '57 GMC 370 chasis cab, in the Auctions/Classifieds thread last week. Here I am, still thinking about it this week (and checking CL to see if it's still there). I really want a 1/2 ton pickup, but this one has definitely caught my interest. Just far enough south of me to prevent me from seeing it in person right now. -
Go for it!!

It's a very tempting project GMC, and not one I commonly see at truck shows that I attend. Too bad I don't have storage space anywhere available for this - it would be a cool truck to own.

You have my empathy, ocnblu. I've been laid-off three times in 10 years... June, 2002 (rebounded by August), June 2009 (was recalled 3 days later), and June 2010 (another quickie, back to work in a new field by October [permanent 13 months later]). I have no doubt in my mind that you won't find something else. Commute to the Philly area (or King of Prussia) - there's plenty of accidents in these areas

A 25 year-old coworker of mine recently purchased a used 2011 Kia Forte sedan. She went window shopping and fell in love with the Kia Forte and Hyundai Elentra cars. She was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon that tarnished her view of domestic cars, not counting the fact many of our other coworkers are Asian car humpers that also told her to stay away from American cars. I showed her pictures of the Ford Fiesta and Chevy Cruze (again, looking at 1 year-old used cars), but she said she had it with domestics and all her friends have been way happy with their foreign cars. My step-son loves certain Kias and Scions, and my wife went out to lunch in a coworker's '11 or '12 Kia Optima and said how nice of a car it is too. Kia & Hyundai have upped the ante in the American marketplace and are growing on consumers minds very quickly. Back on the large car topic, I wasn't overly impressed with the 2014 Chevy Impala when I saw it at the NYIAS in April. However, truth be told I wasn't into the '13 Ford Taurus either at the time (my recent rental experience changed my mind). I will say that while the new Impala has a nice look to it, I still like the current Holden Caprice (Chevy Caprice PPV) better. I will admit that I am a fan of the Cadillac XTS, and the wife is a big fan of the current Buick LaCrosse. Here are some of my pics of the '14 Impala from the NYIAS:
