  1. I always liked using the rail system in Denver..it's pretty extensive at connecting downtown to the burbs. They now have a line connecting the airport to downtown and the rest of the light rail system. I'm planning on taking a week or so out to Colorado in the spring/summer to visit old friends, play tourist...but I probably won't ride the light rail much..going to probably rent an SUV.
  2. I've never found them to be particularly luxurious or stylish. Just an appliance w/ a cheap interior. The exterior styling of the Model S looked good 10 years ago, vaguely Jaguarish...but after 10 years it's tired. And the other models are just variations on a theme, with gimmicky features ('falcon' doors, the stupid door handles, etc). For luxury, I'm more of a Cadillac fan...
  3. The e-Ray sounds like it could be the most interesting of the C8s so far..
  4. I like the pics of the Blazer interior..I like the use of color....I saw a Mach-e interior up close a while back, it looked very generic and nothing special, nothing 'Mustang'...just gray blah. We have our local regional auto show here starting in late Feb..I've got to go, been 3 years since I've been. Always fun to stroll around, and I want to sit in the WL Grand Cherokees.
  5. Sign 'o the times--saw a ratty Tesla Model S (covered in road salt, cracked rear bumper duct taped) w/ a 'STUDENT DRIVER' sign...a kid learning to drive in an EV.
  6. Love the house in Body Double (LA’s Chemosphere House). Melanie Griffith was cute with the short platinum hair..
  7. Fogo is good. I’ve been to the ones in Denver, Scottsdale and San Diego. None in Ohio, closest is Pittsburgh. Got the day off tomorrow, been sleeping in till 8:30 the last couple days. Sleep is good. Been watching some 80s movies….watched Body Double earlier, watching 8 Million Ways to Die now, going to watch Body Heat later…films I haven’t seen in at least 30 years…
  8. Yum....you making me hungry. There are a couple locations of the Texas De Brazil chain around here, haven't been to one in years..went to one in downtown Denver when I lived there for my birthday and special events occasionally. Have to go again...
  9. Probably most are leases, though, so after 5 years they someone else’s used car nightmare…
  10. After some mild weather this week, winter returned yesterday. Cold and snowy all day. Sun came today; got the Jeep out of the garage to go get some beer and wings. Quiet 3 day weekend at home with the dogs. My sister left yesterday for her 6-8 week winter break in SC and GA. Her ‘23 Nox only had 125 miles yesterday when she drove off in the snow…
  11. After the polar vortex at Christmas, early January has been pretty mild--unseasonably warm this week--two days in a row w/ partial sun and highs around 45F. While out walking the dogs yesterday afternoon, I saw a black Cadillac ATS w/ the sunroof open, and a sharp dark red Cadillac XLR w/ the top down...driver had a toque on. Alas, back to rain and snow starting today.
  12. For a '65 Riv, I prefer a more stock look. Beautiful cars..love the Rivieras. My favorites are the '66-67 and '71-72. I love how Buick used wheels of this style from the mid 60s until the mid 80s.
  13. Never heard the term 'keystone' regarding pricing either...sounds like 'markup' from the examples. As far as rotors, I haven't had to do any brake work yet on my '14 GC, at 70k now...maybe this year. I remember my '00 GC needed brake work every 25k or so, I recall first replacing the rotors and pads at around 25k (maybe I drove harder back then, and did a lot of mountain driving in Colorado).
  14. Bland, bland, bland...very much an appliance.
  15. That Benz has had a rough life..funny how the taillights look like a 20 yr old Camry.
  16. Yes, it's a 2023 LT. She's headed off to Myrtle Beach, SC in a couple of weeks. At the dealer when she bought it, I went along and was checking out a red '22 Camaro SS convertible in the showroom, quite nice...they had two C8 Corvettes but they were already sold. A gray one and white one (the C8 looks quite striking in white w/ red seats). Our cousin, a retired Toyota manager from Kentucky, was visiting the last few days in a '22 Rav-4. We've alternated between vehicles going out to dinner and sight seeing, I swear the Equinox feels more spacious inside (esp. the back legroom according to my sister and cousin) than my Jeep GC...and easier to get in and out of since as a CUV it sits low..
  17. REV= Ram EV
  18. Enjoying my week off, catching up on sleep, puttering around the house. Got the Jeep washed to get the salt off. My sister traded her ‘15 Trax w/ 26k miles on a new ‘23 Equinox today, wanted a bigger car before she starts snowbirding down South. Nice car.
  19. Crazy weather this weekend. Was about 41 late Thursday evening, got up to 0 and falling Friday morning. Up to 21 now, the warmest it's been since Thursday.
  20. I'm just thankful my furnace hasn't crapped out and the power has stayed on...kept the house a comfortable 72 in the day and 68 at night with the subzero temps and wind outside the last 24+ hours. Several people in my neighborhood were reporting outages yesterday on the neighborhood FB group (but not on my street). With all the content I have crammed in my garage from the farm clearout last summer, my Jeep sat outside in the cold. I tested the remote start this morning, fired right up. (My sister's Trax fit in, she's thinking of trading it on something larger before she heads off to Myrtle Beach in a couple weeks to get out the Ohio winter for 6 weeks).
  21. It's 1F now after about 20 hrs of negative temps. 'warming up' to 10 by this evening. Probably ice on my driveway under the snow. Haven't been outside since Thursday evening. Warm, power on, just made my 2nd cup of coffee...
  22. -4F here outside Cleveland, blowing snow and very windy. Was 40F at midnight. Power is on, just baked some taquitos. Enjoying them with a margarita. Off until Jan 3rd, hope to have better weather next week to get out and about...
  23. @surreal1272happy birthday! Hope you are somewhere semi-warm for the holiday weekend.
  24. Denver was the only place I’ve lived where I’ve used public transportation. The light rail is extensive and effective. But I usually would drive my Jeep to a light rail station then take the train downtown or elsewhere. I’ve never lived anywhere that rail or bus was more convenient than driving most of the time. Growing up in rural Ohio and the Florida Keys, driving was a necessity to get anywhere. I don’t see that changing for me anytime soon. And since I don’t have a commute anymore, I enjoy driving more since I usually am doing it for fun (sightseeing, out to dinner, to the beach, etc)
  25. True...plenty of buses and now a bit of light rail in the Phoenix metro area, but none of it would have been practical for my commutes...the 9 years I lived there, I lived in North Central Phoenix...one job worked downtown (which the bus might have worked, but it was only a 15 min drive), but mostly I worked in the burbs...27 mile freeway drive south to Chandler. SE to downtown Tempe/ASU area. East on surface streets to downtown Scottsdale. Freeways to NE Scottsdale. Commuting by car/SUV was the only practical solution for me.
