I've done a fair bit with Docker, can get messy. Working w/ Docker and Terraform a fair bit on my current project, but also have a cloud engineer guy I hand off my prototypes to so they can be productionized. I'm mostly focused now on wrapping up some integration code w/ Graph QL, Postgres, and Constant Contact (their API isn't that well documented). The GM e-Crate is very interesting, I could imagine building a retro-modern Fleetwood Brougham land yacht--keep the classic styling, soft and quiet ride, cushy seats, upgrade the audio and add the e-Crate and modern brakes, etc. Now that is a Cadillac EV I'd drive...

I have no interest in self-driving cars, or cars that talk to each other. Working in software for 25 years, I know just how buggy and easily hacked most software is...don't trust it to drive a 9000lb vehicle down the road...

I miss the traditional Cadillac names...alphanumerics are so boring, and the new 'iq' names are contrived. At least Chevy has a core set of names they have kept around for a long time and when they add new names, they usually are word names (though many are contrived).

GM probably has internal designations for different sizes of Ultium-technology platforms under development...like in the olden days where they had A-body, B-body and C-body, etc for families of products of different size and spec. So instead of a variety of 6 cyl and V8 engines, manual and automatic transmissions, gas tanks, etc used with a set of shared BOF and unibody platforms, now they will have a set of electric motors and battery packs with a set of shared platforms. Different types of dirty bits, some of the same principles though.

I could see Chinese car makers making inroads in the US w/ cheap BEVs...never underestimate the average American consumer and their desire for cheap sh*t..

It hasn't changed much in 6 years, and is the least practical of the 3 with it's tiny bunker slot windows.

It just seems like people continue to devolve and get dumber and dumber...I wonder if there was so much skepticism and denial of the science when the polio vaccine was introduced, for example? My older brother was of the generation of kids where that was first used.. that was in the 50s, but there are still people alive that remember it... Sadly, the older I get, the more "Idiocracy" feels like a documentary...

Very strange, but in the last few days, I've noticed I can't post or reply to posts from my phone. I'm logged into the site on Safari, but when I submit a post or reply post nothing is posted. No error I'm seeing on the screen either. Just doesn't post. Works fine on Safari on my Mac.

I guess I think of ladder frames like trucks where the cab, floor and bed bolts on it and sits above the frame, while a perimeter frame the floorpan fits down in the frame (I.e. 60s and newer BOF cars sat low like a unibody car, not high like a truck)

That Rivian platform reminds me of a perimeter frame used on older full size (and some midsize) cars (like the GM B-body or Ford Panther). Not a ladder frame w/ leaf springs like trucks usually have. A sturdy frame to hold the battery pack makes sense, esp. considering how heavy some of these BEVs are.

That’s a lot of options. Been a long time since most cars had any optional axle ratios. For yogurt-like food product, I like Siggi’s Skyr. An Iceland product with more protein and calories than yogurt. Smooth and tasty.

Perhaps...but a core value of Escalade is excess, so too much is never enough... they could offer a 950hp V-series Blackwing Blingmaster w/ 24 inch chrome wheels for $200k and sell a few...
