Nice...in two weeks I'm taking the vacation I planned to take in April but got postponed. Assuming tropical storms and hurricanes don't interfere, I'm going to drive down to Myrtle Beach, SC via WV, VA, and NC. Stay a few days there and explore the beach, nearby towns of Murrells Inlet, Surfside and Georgetown. Then meander up to Kitty Hawk, NC and check out the Outer Banks for a couple days...then back home through VA, MD, WV, and PA ...

New River Gorge bridge is one of the stops on Day 1 of my road trip vacation next month. Looking forward to seeing it.

Conneaut Harbor on Lake Erie. Far NE Ohio.

The colonnades are interesting... I really like the '80s G-bodies, along w/ the B/C/D/E bodies of that era...would love to find a clean '80-84 Electra Park Avenue or '80-89 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance as another weekend car..or an Eldorado Biarritz convertible.

I remember working at Jeppesen (Boeing subsidiary) in 2007-2008 and going to a couple all-hands meetings that had briefings on the 787 development and delays... fascinating space to work in. I was working on software integrations w/ FAA data feeds on updates to routing/charting software.

I enjoy driving my Mustang, if I squint it's like I'm 20-25 again...but it rides rough on Ohio's bumpy roads and is rather loud..and feels so tiny in today's traffic. The Caddy is fast, serene, smooth. Definitely my road trip car.

Heh-heh...I'm enjoying my Old Man Cadillac...getting close to 30mpg highway w/ my 3.6 CT6...I enjoy driving it more than my 5.0 Mustang.

'Cupra' is Latin for copper..maybe that is where they got it. It's also an ancient Etruscan fertility goddess. Cupra the car brand started as a performance trim level on SEAT cars in the 90s, and as the name of their race team. Kind of like M, V-, SVT or SRT, but then became it's own brand more recently. Another one of VWAG's many brands.

Without googling the volume and dimensions, my sister’s Equinox feels larger in both the front and back seat areas than my WK2 GC, which feels smaller inside than my old WJ GC was IMO.
-
I don't know about the new one, but the back seat and rear door openings on the '23 Equinox are quite spacious, bigger than the rear seat area of my '14 Grand Cherokee..the Jeep is esp. lacking in leg room in the back.

I miss him and Balthy...they were...amusing.and CaminoLS6.

The new 'Nox looks good...haven't seen one yet in person. My sister still loves her '23, it only has 9500 miles on it....she hasn't been driving much since retiring last year.

I caught myself referring to my compact tire inflator as a 'tire charger'...as in 'I need to charge up my tire charger'.. (the inflator charges via USB).

Reminds me--I saw in the news yesterday that an alligator was spotted recently in Lake Erie in the Erie, PA area...not native to the area.

Had a couple concerts last week, saw Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony (1/2 of Van Halen) with Jason Bonham (Son of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham) on drums and Joe Satriani on guitar..great, loud rock show... and later in the week saw a great Crosby, Stills Nash and Young tribute band (with people that played with them...I saw CSN about 20 years ago, and Neil Young around the same time).

Yum..sounds tasty. I like Hard Eight, been there a couple of times.. https://hardeightbbq.com. One of my favorite eateries in Plano is The Biscuit Bar at the Boardwalk at Granite Park, right across from my office. https://www.thebiscuit.bar

DFW is an area of infinite sprawl and many, many freeways...reminds me of a larger version of the Phoenix East Valley metro area---beige, flat, dull with generic construction. Good BBQ though.

Glad my trip to my company HQ in Plano this week got cancelled. I hate getting stuck at DFW in inclement weather.

What a view..

Took a Sunday drive out east into the rolling hills, on the way there saw a gorgeous dark turquoise '68 GTO convertible w/ white interior, rolling top down. Also a gorgeous '69 Buick Electra convertible in a silver green w/ matching interior, top down. Came up behind a black w/ yellow stripes late model Camaro w/ Hertz Hendrick #24 logos...must have been a special edition for Hertz. Followed a sharp recent silver blue w/ white stripes Mustang Shelby GT500 with a nice burble tune. Saw a yellow T-Bucket Model T hot rod w/ an older guy w/ long white hair and beard driving. Saw a sharp metallic gray Ferrari SF90 and a clean black '66 Ford Fairlane 2dr about a mile apart on a backroad..Found a tasty Mexican restaurant in the small town of Middlefield, Ohio. I think I need sheepskin seat covers for the Caddy like I have in the Jeep...black leather seats get warm on a hot day, even w/ the AC cranked down.

Also reminded the other day how Ohio has no safety inspections...saw a 90s GMT 400 era Chevy pickup rolling down the road with crazy front wheel camber and the bed sides rusted and flared out/sagging on each side, rusted front fenders and doors. Also was behind for a while a mid 90s S10 pickup, riding lower on the left side than the right with what I thought was a big mud flap flapping in the wind on the right...but it was ahead of the rear wheel. It pulled off later and I got a good view of the right side, the 'flap' was a big chunk of rear bed side/fender that was rusted out and hanging loose behind the cab ahead of the wheel arch...
