just trying to think outside of the box here..... what if it were something like VW's VR series engine?

Buick and Lexus are tied for reliability
What, the top ranked vehicles are cars that GM canceled already?

2008 Buick Lucerne CXL - Autoweek
The lesson to be learned there is to not go to the dealer for things like that. Struts, brakes, radiators, alternators, even transmissions can all be serviced much cheaper elsewhere.

The 3.6 appears to be nearly as bullet proof. Use that instead.

All-new Mazda6 to Debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show
I never said it looked better. But it does look more unique than this Mazda. Seriously... this thing is generic asian sedan. take the logo off and you have no idea who it was made by. At least with the Taurus, you'd be able to guess.

outselling the Toyota Avalon, Mercury Montego/Sable, and occasionally beating the Chrysler 300?

yes. As far as outside physical dimensions are concerned, the 5.7 <and 6.0 that is currently in the CTS-V>, are very very small for a V8. In fact, the 5.7 and 6.0 are only slighly larger than the DOHC 3.6 litre. The northstar is very very large for a V8. When I was at the Detroit auto show, they had most of the engines out on display and the difference in size was astonishing.

Toyota Electric Car May Only Have Half the Range of GM's
Where are you getting your numbers?

All-new Mazda6 to Debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show
yes... because the Taurus is not another generic asian sedan with yet another trapezoid for a grill. While the Taurus isn't exciting in a "zoom zoom" sorta way, Are you really going to mistake it for anything else? scrape the logo off and I doubt any of you would have been able to identify the brand. My first thought when I saw it was that it would make a good Galant refresh.

new iMac's today
Buy the Macbook and buy as much ram as you can afford for it. Macbooks can run OSx and also, using software called Parallels or BootCamp, run Windows software or even a full version of windows itself. In essence you get two computers in one.

V4s
I've seen marine V4s that seemed very smooth.

:nono: I just don't understand why you guys are getting excited over a GAS with YAT.

1983 Pontiac 6000 LE....DIESEL!
I was very tempted.... though it was a GM Goodwrench re manufactured engine with the updates.

V4s
You could get a larger displacement into a smaller package...... what are the downsides? Could you imagine a Mini with a 2.7 litre or so V4?

Toyota Electric Car May Only Have Half the Range of GM's
All true.... except the "electric only" part only lasts a few feet.

They do... they are also 8 quart engines. Strangely, so is the 3.6

2008 Buick Lucerne CXL - Autoweek
Looking over your number again.... I have to agree with Fly.... some of them are total "LOL" Over $1,000 for just the part on the timing chains? That would mean that the timing chains were nearly 1/3 the cost of an entire remanufactured NorthStar

No it couldn't. the LS engine barely fits. The NS is much larger.
