  1. I don't see any "catch up" with the stats you posted at all. The hondas are tuned to providing more HP at the expense of torque while the Cadillac is tuned to produce more torque at the expense of horsepower. I'm sure if Cadillac dialed the torque to reach it's peak at 5000rpm instead of 3200rpm it would have a much higher horsepower number than it does now. It's not about catch up, it's about two different styles. Personally, I wouldn't want an engine where torque reaches full boil all the way up at 5,000rpm. You may want that. That doesn't make either engine "better". Of course, once DI is available in the Cadillac and A-Vtec in the Honda, all bets are off.
  2. The 3.6L global V-6 develops 255 hp (190 kw) at 6200 rpm and 255 lb.-ft. of torque (346 Nm) at 3200 rpm and is mated to the 5L40-E automatic transmission. The adoption of fully variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust valves provides outstanding flexibility, fuel economy and emissions reduction. link VVT systems use electronically controlled hydraulic camshaft phasers to alter the relationship of the intake and exhaust camshafts as much as 50 degrees relative to the crankshaft. The ability to adjust the timing of intake and exhaust valve opening and closing events improves the full load performance in the entire operating range. link
  3. This is a case of Honda catching up to GM in engine technology. The HF3.6 has this technology now. Of course, by the time Honda gets it to market, the 3.6 will also have DI.
  4. four-speed automatic transmission
  5. yet you accuse the center stack of my car of looking like a PC tower...?
  6. Just to be clear, I've listed GM as a "BUY" for months now..... and I hold XXXX shares.
  7. Deutsche Bank upgrades GM,Ford to BUY Link SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. shares were in rally mode early Friday after Deutsche Bank upgraded both automakers to buy from hold in the belief that strides in health-care negotiations could pave the way to profitability.
  8. NO WAY! $10 says we don't hear any complaints from the press or it'll be explained away because it's "buttery smooth"
  9. GM should pull the ad not because of the suicidal thing, but because it's a dumb ad.
  10. = menacing = not menacing

    MOMS

I thought your mom knew Ocn.
  12. They managed to make it uglier
  13. Production G8 pic? Are we switching to KPH only? I realize Canada uses KPH, but I would imagine even Canada bound G8s will have KPH and MPH on their speedos
  14. yeah, cause the Camry is so totally "gotta-have-it"!
  15. Both situations require user thought. A user thinking is the biggest security hole in any software.
  16. I'm surprised no one noticed. Hand pull e-brake!
  17. I thought Ascender was already dead.
  18. almost has a Subaru look to it...
  19. The NS will run just fine on regular unleaded.
  20. Take a statistics class first.
  21. The new look has left me cold. I might wait it out to see what the CTS coupe looks like. I liked the photochops a lot, so if Cadillac comes close, I'll go that route. Depending on timing, I might buy a G8 once my CTS lease is up next year and then trade it on a CTS coupe once it's available.
  22. My CTS has only had 1 warranty repair*, but I still hear from my Cadillac dealership plenty. *so far, my near accident a few months ago appears to have damaged the suspension. I've only driven the car about 300 miles since Thanksgiving, so it hasn't been a huge priority.
  23. I get a holiday card every year. About every 4-6 months or any time they get something new, either my salesman or the GM of the dealership I bought from will call me and invite me in to look at some new model or take a test drive of something. They always ask how I like my car and if I need anything. If I ever bring it in for service, my salesman is sure to stop by if he's not with a customer, he knows ahead of time that I'm coming in if I've made an appointment. They usually offer to send another Cadillac down for me to use for the day or one to take with me for a few hours if I want to go out shopping somewhere else. They'll do pickup service even though I'm a good 17 miles from the dealer. <minors annoyance, the old guy that does the pickups insists he needs a 1/2 tank of gas or he won't take the car> I get the free state inspections without a coupon. I just have to take it there and they hook me up. They send me coupons for free car washes, but I don't really need them. Any time I go in to check things out they take my keys and wash the car. Sometimes I stop buy just to get shmoozed, eat a free doughnut, and get a free car wash. Here's the touch I like the most it's that bit extra that makes me praise them so highly.... I have Cadillac branded napkins and mints that they give me. I keep them in the car. The cocktail parties are formal affairs. They're usually held at the Crown Plaza north of the city or inside Heinz field. They'll have a jazz band of some type, free drinks, fancy horederves and you mingle among the Cadillacs parked in the room. There are tuxedo clad salesmen around who will tell you about the cars but don't pressure you to buy anything at all. They're there for information purposes and to hand out business cards if you're really interested. My dealership experience has really been top notch. My only regret is that I'm not sure my next car will be a Cadillac <thinking G8 instead of CTS>.
  24. I have to say, Cadillac has certainly taken care of me being a CTS owner. I get invites to 1 or 2 Cadillac sponsored cocktail parties each year, coupons for free car washes, free state inspections, holiday cards, phone calls. They pay a LOT of attention to me.
  25. It gets a 6.0 litre.
