  1. I mostly see an updated previous gen Malibu.
  2. 66 Olds Toronado
  3. not even close.... The engine I'm refering to is a DOHC engine..... yet has 5 camshafts.... one of which no longer has any cams on it.
  4. Oh come on now. Does the 3800 have 5 camshafts.... or even more then one? Think about it.... why would a car have more then one cam shaft?
  5. No, much more "everyman" then that. It's a car engine. The cams on the 5th camshaft aren't there anymore. This engine was a major evolution on a previous engine design.
  6. 20 views and not a single guess?
  7. Update: My partner and I will both attend.
  8. There is an engine out there with 5 camshafts. It is a somewhat common engine, two or three may have even passed you on the road today. Sadly, it has mostly been ignored even though it produces large amounts of power compaired to other engines of this vintage. The 5th camshaft is somewhat vestigial and no longer serves it's original purpose, yet is still vital for the operation of the engine. What engine am I refering to? What is the purpose of the 5th camshaft?
  9. Just give the man a 3-series to shut him up. There are cars out there with a smoother ride then a DTS? Eh... Town Car maybe, Lucerne close... but none of those European cars are going to do it. If a shopper is looking in the DTS class, the IS 350 is an economy car. This is where one must keep perspective. The only Lexus the DTS competes with is the LS, the rest are too small. I can't imagine anyone complaining about the Northstar in this application. It's quiet and subdued around town, yet roars to life and hustles you down the road when you smash your right loafer into the carpet. Plenty of cars make more then 291hp at $53k. NONE of them come with the rest of the package that the DTS has in size and comfort.
  10. eh, it still needs Rhinoplasty
  11. GM did themselves a diservice by not designing these engines to be "slant 6s" like BMWs are.... or at least by making a slant six varient.
  12. Go to JibJab and click on the Big Box Mart movie.
  13. Yes and the Sebring comes base with a 150hp I4 The solara comes base with a 157hp I4
  14. For him.... size matters.... and the FiveHundred is probably the largest mid-sizer out there. edit: the Five Hundred is only 3 inches longer then a Taurus's 197inches. The Crown Victoria is a full foot longer.
  15. I think what he is trying to say is that the Fivehundred is a full size car, in a midsize body with a midsize price. For some people it will be too big. Some people it will be too small. Some people it will be just right. Why would someone buy a Luscerne over an Avalon? Because they think <like me> that the new Avalon is hideous.. or they maybe they want a V8... or maybe Buick gave them a special offer if they traded in their LeSabre. I'm a technoweeny and I still don't care that neither my CTS nor the Lucerne have bluetooth.
  16. The G6 Convertible still has the most power of this segment + plus a retractible hardtop. G6 227hp > Camry Solara 210hp > Sebring 200hp
  17. Chrysler should do a production version of this: based off the SL platform.
  18. I think the Cloud cars, much like the W-bodies, need to be retired.
  19. I've been buying up GM stock. I'm no Kerkorkian, but I do expect it'll be back into the mid-30s again. Besides, you're still getting $2 a share dividend on a @$24 investment.
  20. Nissan: Murano, Pathfinder Toyota: 4Runner, Highlander Ford: Freestyle, Explorer
  21. @ 2,000,000,000 rpm
  22. Can't afford to do that when you have to pay every GM worker that still lives + pay for their healthcare.
  23. oh who cares about HP!?! Really people it's Torque that is important. In the previous Jetta, the standard 4 cylinder had about 115 hp. The TDI had 90hp. They both did 0-60 in about 10 seconds. Say "227 hp is just pathetic" three times and then stop and think at how rediculous that sounds when the Camry is 189hp. Another point. Stop comparing engine displacement to HP. You want a 220hp Honda S2000 engine in your G6 convertible, be my guest. I'll be laughing at you growing smaller in the rearview mirror driving a "pathetic" Lucerne V6 anyday.
  24. A woman in her 50s who wants a BMW simply wants a BMW for status. There is no way she's buying it for the "sport".... plus, really you live on Long Island. Can you ever actually get up past 45mph regularly anyway? She probably would be a prime canidate for a CTS or a Zephyr. Eh, let her suffer with a BMW on those awful streets..... she'll wish she got a towncar.
  25. And a big congratulations goes out to the UAW for making this possible. </sarcasm>
