High trim Toronado XSR with both the wrap around rear glass and the electric retractable t-top. Can't tell the year without seeing the front. But '74 to '78 are safe bets.- Random Thoughts Thread

You do like the most austere vehicles.- Random Thoughts Thread
The intake is in front of the engine and hangs below the top of TDC. The starter is still connected to the flywheel.- Random Thoughts Thread
Yup. Or under the intake manifold on a 4 cylinder Honda. I wonder what their excuse was. The alternator is a major project too.- Random Thoughts Thread
It rolls out of the garage under gravity power just by putting it in neutral. So we rolled it out, and then did a winch/gravity/winch/gravity/winch sideways- Random Thoughts Thread
Yeah, that's not a photo distortion.... that's how steep the driveway is. And now you know why I'm not allowed anything but AWD for my daily drivers.- Random Thoughts Thread
I don't use the dealer. I have a local mechanic who I trust to do the work. They aren't the cheapest, but they're reliable and they warranty their work. I already bought the parts since I was planning on doing it myself, so that will soften the blow a bit. The stupid starter is under the intake manifold though.- Random Thoughts Thread
It's still the starter. It's just been sitting in my garage for 2 months waiting for me to fix it. I gave up waiting for decent weather and shipped it off.- Random Thoughts Thread

- Detroit 2018: The 2019 Kia Forte gets stung: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Where did you get that graphic? Of course they will put in an optional engine. The current Forte has option engines above base and Kia is the biggest social climber out there.- Detroit 2018: The 2019 Kia Forte gets stung: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)That would be incorrect. The $16k price class - Civic - 138, Cruze - 138, Corolla - 132, Focus 125 or 146, Sentra - 125, Yes, some can be optioned over that, but not at the price the Forte sells at.- Detroit 2018: Nissan Xmotion concept: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Because they'd probably rebadge it. But... what I'm told by a Nissan rep I know is that this will likely get watered down substantially and become the new Rogue.- Detroit 2018: 2019 Toyota Avalon Becomes Slightly Angry: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I can say that the front end of these is much worse in person. The tail end is interesting though.- Quick Drive: 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XLE
It will never allow you to fully deplete the battery, it always keeps some in reserve in case you need some boost. I think the engine wants to be at operating temperature also, but William can confirm. EV mode max speed seems to be around 40 mph, but you have to almost hyper-mile it to get there. It's mostly for getting around parking lots or other slow speed movement.- Detroit 2018: The 2019 Kia Forte gets stung: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)The new CVT is supposed to address the bucket of paste feel. I don't fully understand the technical aspects of it yet, but it is supposed to have the firmer pull of a standard automatic.- Detroit 2018: 2019 Jeep Cherokee Update: Comments
Drew Dowdell replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Because even after years of me explaining it to you, you still fail to understand how horsepower and torque ratings work. At this point, I assume you will never get it. Exactly. It should make the engine more ready to rev. - Random Thoughts Thread
