Compared to OHV, DOHC is the costly trick. Not in terms of max power. The LS7 uses titanium rods and premium machining and DI to get 505hp out of 7.0L. It costs far more to make and sell than a 5.2L. I'm not sure how many more times I have to say it.... I'm talking about the every day cars like the Camry and Impala. Can I make it in big lettering? Will that work? IN NON-SPORTING APPLICATIONS, OHV V6 DELIVERS SUPERIOR DRIVABILITY TO AN EQUIVALENT PEAK OUTPUT DOHC.

Ahem, now that I've cleaned up the personal attacks and off-topic stuff again... moving on.

The really relevant discussion is the GM 3.6 v the GM 4.3 Ecotec in the Colorado. The 3.6 lets them claim best in class horsepower V6, but the 4.3 would actually be a better fit due to the superior torque curve.

I'm more on the mindset to use what is owed to me. They should have never asked me to calculate what I'm owed. No, I don't get paid for it, I get to carry over 5 days to next year at best.

It could, it just won't be called SRT -

FCA has said SRT is a Dodge-only thing going forward. -

This makes about as much sense as a Mitsubishi Colt Vista Evolution No more SRTs that aren't Dodges. -
You're a dick. I just started my current job a year ago(13 months) and I only have 16 days of PTO a year.. I don't think it goes up until my 5 year mark. I have 25 official days off per year, but I've been with the company 9 years in October. However, because of my unusual amount of travel and off-hours work, I earn a ton of comp time also. If I have to travel over a weekend or a holiday or even a 3 day weekend, I get those days back as comp days. It may sound great that I have 30 days comp time to use, but the reality is that I've earned them by giving up my weekends and holidays (I was traveling on both Good Friday and July 3rd, officially days off for me). Also, there is no chance in hell that I'll be using 30 days comp time by the end of the year. I have far too many projects coming up... and I'll be earning even more comp time in October and November. So the reality is that my employer is taking advantage of me.

I've used 17 days of vacation/comp time this year so far, but I've also earned another 30 days (and counting) that I have to use by the end of the year.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Works On Dealer Incentives
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
To answer your first question - unless there is a massive breach of contract, no. State franchise laws greatly favor the local business rather than the manufacturer. What JDN can do is change allocations and punish no-compliant dealers by sending fewer and less desirable cars.- 10 replies

I need to contact the press fleet to schedule an Encore ST. I haven't had a press vehicle in a long while.

Personally, I have liked the Continental since I saw it and sat in it in person. I think it looks great in these Pebble Beach pics.

OK...that Ill agree to... But not that North Eastern temps will screw it up... It's not the temps, it's the ice and salt. Also, chrome ain't what it use to be. The chrome posted above in those older GM cars is on actual metal (the shaped Cadillac is polished stainless steel rather than chrome technically). They can't really do old style chrome anymore because it is horribly pollutive during the process.

Buick News: Buick Envision: To Import or Not Import?

Build it where the Captiva is/was built. The UAW will still hate that, but at least it isn't built in China.- 29 replies

I don't think there is any way they'll do chrome down low on the front and rear air-dams like that. They'd be trash after 2 days of north east winter and Lincoln would get complaints.

Good stuff. ...so what have you heard, if anything, about the timeline for the new Verano? I'm actually kinda surprised that this announcement included the Verano. I thought we were getting a new Verano so soon it wouldn't matter. This is going to be a one-year only trim on the current body Verano at best.

Yeah, but that's for your basic 4-cylinder Malibu.... something high end like a Corvette one would think the purchaser would be more attune to the needs of the engine during the break in period.

*sigh* you really need to stop taking things personally. 1. This hasn't been a "GM Site" since 2009. 2. The conversation happened on Facebook. 3. I was only an observer of the conversation, not a participant. I don't think either myself or William actually replied in that thread. 4. It was between other members of the media in an automotive media related discussion group.

Up to 100 Press releases per day... especially during auto show season. Usually it is a lot fewer than that, but the flood of press releases from Ford has been a topic of discussion.
-
Yes everyone fluffs, some more than others... some waaaay more than others. Toyota, Ford, and Hyundai/Kia are notorious for their eyeroll inducing fluff. Sometimes we make fun of them for it. Inside the Automotive Media inner circle which Willam and I have a bit of an eye into, Ford gets mocked for the volume of their press releases which come out at a rate of sometimes 100 a day.

I use them all the time. I have many play lists set up on my iphone with clear and distinct names. On my own Buick, it seems to be able to figure out what I want just fine. MFT/Sync wasn't able to tune to the correct XM radio station at all. It's annoying to have to flip through up to 100 channels just to get to what I want, so I usually just say "Tune XM 51". My Buick gets it, MFT couldn't even come close. I travel constantly for work and often get higher end cars with Nav built in. I am often traveling to unfamiliar places, so I need to be able to do address entry. It is much faster to speak the address (when it works) than it is to type through all of the screens to enter one. My Buick can figure it out most of the time as long as the names are clear. I've had no luck with the Ford systems. uConnect usually works well. Those here who have met me know that I speak very clearly and without any sort accent.
