  1. What a downer...everyone was talking about how great Chicago was going to be.
  2. I hope not...I heard the new Taurus was supposed to be shown at Chicago.
  3. For some reason, that grille makes me think of a bad take on Transformers.
  4. Nothing...my laptop video card died a week ago and I'm still waiting from the ISU IT to fix it. No laptop + no music + no internet (at my apartment) + broken DVD player = insanity. I'm living in 1995 and it's horrible!
  5. I believe Camry SE is the "sports appearance" Camry...that's probably what he was referring to.
  6. Our government is led by a bunch of incompetent fools. We have been saying this on these boards now for years...for as long as I have been a member here. Now, finally, they start to wake up and see the urgency of the situation. It just kills me that it has taken a recession and a housing crash for our leaders in Washington to finally get it. Camino brought up a great point; my generation will be the ones that will have to live with this. We will be saddled with the burdens and excesses of the current and past administrations. I'm already almost $40,000 in debt with college loans because tuition has gone up nearly 100% over the last four years, along with interest rates. What makes me the most angry is that my generation will go through a lot of financial hardship to pay off the war and the Social Security of the Baby Boomers who got us into this mess.
  7. Great movie, I used to watch it all the time as a kid and have it on DVD now. Evelle: "These balloons blow up into those funny shapes and all?" Old shopkeeper: "Well, no...unless round is funny." Some movies I like that my generation really hasn't heard of: At Close Range Airheads This Is Spinal Tap Escape from New York The Wraith Blade Runner The Running Man Weekend at Bernies Demolition Man Poltergeist Close Encounters of the Third Kind The original 1974 'Gone in 60 Seconds' And of course...Bullitt
  8. It doesn't really surprise me...I saw an interview with him on YouTube a while back for the new Batman movie and he looked like he was going through cocaine withdrawals. He kept clutching himself and fidgeting the entire interview.
  9. Happy birthday, guys!

  11. It's the Corvette! The one car in GM's lineup that should have no compromises is being compromised! I have no problem with dropping weight, but dropping horsepower is like taking two steps forward, then three steps backward. If 20 years from now "climate change" turns out to be nothing more than a god damn natural cycle, I'm going to ridicule GM like none other. This is bull$h!.
  12. When you turn on your car, does it return the favor? In this case, yes! Ultra-rare '87 GNX built specifically for Mr. Marriott of Marriott Hotels. 456 hp to the rear wheels. Sold for $65,000.
  13. Ford has confirmed a RWD large Ford-branded sedan to go into production. Look at how well the Crown Victoria / Grand Marquis still sell even though they are ancient. Look how well the LX cars selling. If GM can't figure out how to build a RWD sedan and still meet CAFE, then throw in the towel and close up shop because Ford and Chrysler apparently have a way. I can see Ford sticking in the EcoBoost Duratec 35 into a car that will be out in a couple years while GM is still f*cking around deciding on a platform. Keep Zeta, build a limited-production RWD Impala, power it with a V6, and stop throwing money away. Tell GM Europe to shove it. It's hard to stick up for a company that moves at a snail's pace and can't commit to anything!
  14. I really don't think the F-150 looks that bad, but I may have a little bit of bias. :AH-HA_wink: The more I look at it, the more it's grown on me, especially the FX-4 model. But I gotta give it to Dodge, the new Ram looks pretty amazing...it runs a close race with the Sierra for best-looking truck.
  15. I like it enough to buy one! The "fuel" lettering on the cap is great...it seems to say "feed me," and it's like a slap in the face to the eco-weenies at the gas station.
  16. I'm a Ford fan at heart but I'm very open to buying GM vehicles considering that is what I have driven for the last 7 years and that is primarily what I was raised around. Reading about all these cancellations is beginning to sour my mood, especially toward GM Europe. Meanwhile, Ford has a RWD Ford and Lincoln full-size in development, a Mustang on sale right now and what looks to be a bright future for that nameplate, plus rumors of a RWD Lincoln coupe, twin-turbo V6 engines, and the good chance that the new Explorer will be RWD. Why is there no panic over in Dearborn about CAFE and all kinds of slashing of programs? As GM's future seems to get gloomier, Ford's has been getting brighter the last couple months with the official announcement of the RWD cars, the new Explorer, and the EcoBoost engines. It looks like Ford and Chrysler(?) will be building the types of cars I want to buy in the future. It's too bad GM Europe is running the show. I'm sure the Camaro and G8 would have been axed if they had taken the reigns earlier. Here's to hoping the GM I love is still around twenty years from now.
  17. There are some really great details and things, but like some have said, the grille needs to be toned down a little and a lower beltline would probably look better. I love the side upkick. Check this out...someone from BON photoshopped it to make the beltline lower and it looks much cooler. It has sort of a sport wagon look. I think the biggest problem is the lack of the rear bumper and the large expanse of flat rear sheet metal. A bumper will help break that up. But overall, they are on the right track.

The Lincoln MKT concept features a 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engine with turbocharging and direct injection that produces the power and torque of a V-8 engine with the fuel efficiency of a V-6. EcoBoost – combined with advanced transmissions, electric power steering, weight reductions and aerodynamic improvements – is a key part of Ford Motor Company’s vehicle sustainability strategy. The company is introducing EcoBoost engines that will deliver up to 20 percent better fuel economy on half a million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles annually in North America within the next five years. 19. God, this reminds me of the book "The Fountainhead" where everything was done in the name of the common good. It's a great read for those who value individualism over collectivism. Thankfully the gestapo haven't taken over my state's government yet. Someday when I can afford to design my own home, I want to make it as energy independent from the grid as possible. Natural ventilation, geothermal heating and cooling, controlled daylighting, maybe even solar energy.
  20. I love everything except for the lack of a rear deck. It looks like a really big hatchback on an otherwise excellent design. Lengthen the rear and/or fix the C pillar and it will be perfect!

    Can you say

Awesome! When I was in Italy last spring, I was kinda hoping Metallica would come over somewhere nearby so I could say I saw them in Europe! As for the new album, Bob Rock has been replaced with the guy who produced albums for Slayer and a number of other metal bands, and they FINALLY are returning to E tuning rather than E flat and dropped C (the first five albums were in E). Hopefully this will sound like a classic Metallica speed metal album. I've heard the album is supposed to come out sometime in the spring or maybe as late as summer '08. I'm on the edge of my seat because St. Anger was such as disappointment (to me) and I've been waiting for another "classic" like RLT or MOP for as long as I've been a fan of Metallica (since about '98). I'm hoping a new kick-ass 'Tallica album will reinvigorate the whole metal scene...it seems to be coming back a little, but a new Metallica album will hopefully put it front and center. I would love to see metal embraced by the mainstream again like it was 20 years ago...I'm so tired of the punk and indie scene. 22. How reliable were those Jags? Looks like it's in great shape.
  23. It looks like it's stoned.
  24. Music to my ears! Nice work and nice ride.
  25. What's your opinion on the 3100? It seems to have great torque and pick up from 0-50, but after that it just feels anemic. The gearing ratios are too long, and passing on the highway isn't exactly a breeze. My engine only has 140 hp, but Series II boosted it up to 160 in '95. But despite all the complaints about OHV engines, mine is pretty smooth...I think a lot of people just see "pushrod" and assume it's inferior without driving one. My last Lumina made it to 220,000 before the electrical gremlins took over.
