Chinese-assembled and penned VW to be sold in US
Fly's pulling our leg a little with the picture. It won't be THAT car, if you read the article they haven't said which one yet, maybe one that's not even on sale in China yet. The picture at the top of the article is also misleading, they say further down that it WON'T be the dated Santana pictured. Before you go crucifying VW for still selling that thing, keep this in mind - it is their major fleet vehicle, sold largely as a cab. Ford Crown Vic, anyone? How old is that platform now? :AH-HA_wink:

R-Class in '08 - V8 AMG R63 and R500 dropped
By far the ugliest Mercedes, IMO.

Multilinguists... Ayudame! Aiutammi! Aidez-moi!
Esperanto is a created language intended to be easy to learn for all speakers of European languages. It also has ONE pronunciation for each letter, so you always know how to pronounce something based on how it is written. It has actually been partly accepted, with about a million speakers, and about a thousand native speakers (where it is their first language). I'd like to see this take off.

Multilinguists... Ayudame! Aiutammi! Aidez-moi!
J'ai grandir au Canada donc je parle Francais. I think the word I know most is "cheers". I don't know how to spell any of these, so I'm just going by sound. Nosdrovya: Serbian / Ukrainian Proscht: Dutch Prost: German Ita taki mas: Japanese I know how to read the basic Japanese characters (the ones not borrowed from Chinese), and speak a bit. I learned a few Mandarin phrases while in China, and the meanings of a few important characters for navigation. Ones I can remember: North, West, Mountain, Center, Men, Women, Danger, Gate, and their numerals. They use our numbers a lot, but sometiems you will still see their old numerals. Most of Japanese is phonetic to their alphabet, like western languages - so you learn a character for its sound, then figure out what that sound means. Chinese however is not at all phonetic, so the things I know how to say I have no idea how to write, and the things I know how to read I have no idea how to say. Strange disconnect.

What Are You Listening To?
I really shouldn't have complained about War Pigs. I just had to do Sweet Child of Mine about 5 times before finally getting to the end. Slash is the man! (though I still don't like many of their songs)

What Are You Listening To?
Just finished listening to myself, playing War Pigs on Guitar Hero on Expert. Now I think my arm is going to fall off.

Man, be thankful that car is so old. It won't be much of an insurance hit.

Volkswagen may leave United States
Am I the only one COMPLETELY shocked by this??? I thought this was one of Fly's jokes!!! I thought Ford and Mitsu would die LONG before VW!!!

Alright, enough is enough.
I like the old-fashioned kind, the pure-peanut butter, made without stabilizers. It's the kind where you have to stir the oil in, since it separates on the top. Any other wierdos like me?

What Are You Listening To?
There are good songs from EVERY decade. It's just that the '80s had so few redeeming ones for my taste. I think the only hair metal band I actually came to appreciate is Iron Maiden. Insane guitar skills, but they figured out how to write insanely fast riffs and put them into GOOD songs and not just wank on stage, 'look how fast I can play'.

Mo-Par don't Go Far....
B looks like a Grand Am, and that's really not a good thing for the Challenger name.

Chrysler Imperial (finally) officially dead
Somewhere, in a leopard-print computer chair, Snoop Dogg just read this article, cried a tear, then took another hit of the blunt and forgot what the hell he was crying about.

What Are You Listening To?
I think you just summed up in one post all the reasons why I freakin' hate the '80s. Plus I just lost any respect I had for Van Halen when I found out that "Jump" (pop sh*t) song was theirs.

What was the #1 song in the country....
"Flashdance ... What a Feeling" by Irene Cara Man, the '80s sucked. HS grad: "Try Again" by Aaliyah Slightly better. University grad: "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani Ow my face.

California Authorities Install Nation’s First Stop Sign Cameras
A friend told me a pretty funny story about one of the speeding cameras, thought I'd share it here. He went to university in Germany. They had a news piece there one day about a guy who got away with speeding past a camera because he had no front plate and the picture that the camera took of what was supposed to be his face was instead his naked butt, which he had flipped upside down to point at the camera. Can you imagine trying to drive a car, upside down with your pants off?

What Are You Listening To?
- Honda sued over gas mileage clames
Down the Hamilton Escarpment (read: giant cliff) in a low gear, I once read 1.1 L/100km on the computer. 1.1 l/100km = 213.83144 miles per gallon Obviously hybrids are unnecessary.- Dodge's Chinese subcompact to cost ~$10k
Now that I look at the picture, I remember seeing these Chery A1s in China. They look like they're about the width of a Smart Fortwo. They have engine size badges on the back, either "1.1" or "0.8". It actually said it that way on the badge in silver letters too - "0.8".- Gas Prices should start droping soon....
I doubt they'll drop much. The gas companies all found out how much we were willing to pay during Katrina with basically no drop in demand. Why lower prices? - Honda sued over gas mileage clames
