  1. Talked to GM service advisor--intermediate steering shaft and crankshaft position sensor are trouble spots. As far as he know the 3.5L DOHC was reliable. Gonna go check out an 02 with 78KMS
  2. If I do this, I won't owe anything on the Cobalt. I just wonder what kind of cheque they will give me, plus the Olds.
  3. Anyone have any experience with these cars? General reliability? How is the 3.5L DOHC V6? I drove one a few years ago and loved it. Far better then the other W-bodies IMO. I am thinking of ditching my 07 Cobalt to save some cash. thoughts and comments appreciated.
  4. ouch! Nothing worse then an accident in a new car. I hate panicky drivers, like that lady that slammed on the brakes. Looks nice BTW
  5. I don't really know how much hp...even modded, I think the TPI system is holding it back. It was a lower rpm torque based (strong midrange too) fuel injection system. High rpm peak HP is not it's thing. But 235 hp was stock (at the crank) so maybe 310? I'll get it dyno'd next year.

    night vison

Help me settle an arugement. I thought Cadillac had some kind of high tech night vison headlight system.....is this correct? Was in cancelled...and it was very expsensive? Please expalin in as much detail as you know Buddy thinks its a night vison windshield?
  7. I'd love this engine in my 89 Formula w/ 6 speed auto. Seems like the demise of the 427 might not happen...good.
  8. well to from USA to Canada is easy. There are two camps---newer then 15 years and older then 15 years. I have not done the newer then 15 years. More papaerowrk and more money!! For 15 years and older: fax the border crossing a completed bill of sale and the title--at least 72 hrs prior to crossing. US border agents look at the VIN on the car and let you go. Canada Customs does not even look at the car---they just want 6% GST+ 100 for AC. The you need an out of province inspection doen and your good to go get it registered. Easy as cake
  9. do it!! 3rds are my fav.....graet looks, good interiors and good handlling. Doesn't take to much to get more HP out of the TPI either and parts are reasonable.
  10. My new car. I have been looking awhile for something in excellent shape that was already done. SO I can just drive and enjoy. Intailly I wanted a Trans Am (NOT GTA) with the silver GFX but not too mnay 350s in that combo were made. So I expanded my search to include Formulas. And although it has T-tops--that was not my ideal option but since the rest of the car is so perfect I decided that I can overlook them. Drove it from Chicago to Calgary, Alberta. 89 Formula 350--most of the usual options. Was rebuillt with: Edlebrock Aluminum E-Tec 170 heads SLP Runners SLP Headers (dual cat) Borla exhaust TPIS ZZ9 cam 1.6 Gold Cranerockers Custom software 700R4 rebuilt with the usual parts+ 2400 B&M holeshot Rebuilt 9 bolt 3.27 Subframe connectors, Hotchkiss Strut bar and TDS wonderbar have been added along with all poly bushings. KYB GR2 Struts as well. The paint and body are mint conditon due to alot of time and effort spent doing the job right. PPG Artic white BTW I even have T-top shades!! I never head of them on a third gen before. The ridiculous Intrax springs (2" drop fr 1.6 rear...?) are being taken out. It's just too low unless the world had perfect roads. The car is very fun to drive. It has mountains of torque and revs higher then a stock TPI too. The cam gives the car a bit of a lumpy idle and the exhaust has a deep note.
  11. high praise esp from a Civic owner!

    Death of the V8?

this post remids me of the 80's. The death of the V8 was predicted then...V6 was the future. Never really happened. It's not like the V8 is all over the place anyhow...more 4clys and V6 cars on the road. Most cars can't even get a V8. In some cases a V8 gets better MPG then a V6 anyhow.
  13. neat cars for sure. Neeeds some nice 16" rims. I sure wold love to talk to the guy who designed the car---he must have been at a meeting and said, " Hey, this car needs a cam-shell hood"! I mean, only Corvettes have those! Odd but neat descion
  14. Why does it need new seats? My and a buddy just did 900 miles in one day---our backs have zero complaints. The suspension on the NA SS kicks ass---so do the brakes. My car stops ona dime, then picks it up! Good job Wagoner--if it ain't broke don't fix it!
  15. How about a Mazda 6? New one in 08. I have heard Fords 260hp 3.5L will be in it. Mazdas have very sporty chasiss dynamics and are fun to drive. For sure take a look at the Malibu and Aura--but the Malibus is all DOHC V6's--where in the AUra you have to get the top modle to get that great engine.
  16. ah they were neat cars! Not too common at all. ESP the W41 versions--7400rpm redline While the did make more PEAK hp then the 2.4L Ecotec--its power band is not as flat. I raced a GTZ in my 5 speed 2.4L SS and won np
  17. I wonder if Lutz's response--it would add 5K---is in relation to ONLY CTS sales. I wonder if they spread it around a bit (CTS, H3, Colorado--a few others) if they could not drop the unti cost of then engine.
  18. I perfer "falling back" I am so tired!
  19. I take pics at the dealer beofre I drive away!
  20. I got a Grand Prix for a rental last week. It was an okay car--engine felt smooth and sounded good under throttle. But the interior was pretty bad. Overall its decent car but it feels kind of old. Nothing really wring with it but nothing great either. I guess if I got a GXP for rental then my opinion mighthave changed but put the W body to rest and bring on the G8!
  21. More powerful standard 2.4L four cylinder engine they just ean in relation to the 2.2L right?
  22. nice car! That blue is kinda rae, I think. Go add some Z06 rims
  23. I keep waitng top come into to money but it never happens Well stick to your plan, it'll pay off!
