anyone seen any pics of the rear? I hope it's as nice as the front...
-
Just fair, from what I see --- I don't care for that vast expanse above the glove box. The current Impala interior is much nicer.
-
They wouldn't have to change much to make a very nice car even nicer; A revised front end clip, with larger, 2008 Malibu-like grille (and please, do something about the license plate holder - it should be integrated into the bottom portion of the grille rather than some crummy plastic add-on that totally disrupts the flow of the front bumper); and... PLEASE!!! REVISE THOSE BORING LOOKING TAILLIGHTS; they should be smaller, and 3 per side, with the back-up light in the middle, like the classic Impalas of the 60's; maybe with a satin-like stainless steel panel surrounding them. I love the interior of the new Impala, but some new colors (dark blue? ) would be nice, and I'd love to see them double the size of the leaping Impala on the passenger side panel, above the glove box, and have it light up with the dash lights; that would be so cool...

Since the '07 Impala had no styling changes whatever from the'06, does anyone know what changes might be in store for the '08 model? Specifically: Any revisions at all to either the front end clip, or the trunk/taillight design? I could see that they might want to change the front end clip a bit, to make it more in synch with the bigger grille on the '08 Malibu. And I really wish they would so SOMETHING with the taillights; they are so non-descript so as to be almost indistinguishable from just about every new sedan (Accord, Five Hundred, Montego, G6. etc., etc.). SO..... Does anyone know what's up next for the '08 Impala???

Wow, that's a nice looking ride!! For those of us ready to transition out of our Tahoes and Suburbans as our nests empty out, this looks pretty sweet as a replacement. Two things I think they should change: 1. Make the pillar between the rear doors and the cargo area black, to match the upper door/window trim; 2. Put a bigger "hood" over the left 2/3 of the dash --- as it stands now, the clock area is going to be almost invisable during the day, when sunlight hits it. Otherwise, I love it!!

Well, I think I've decided on a Lucerne too, after going back and forth between an Impala SS or the Buick. My local dealer has a CXL V8, with the sunroof, luxury package, and Harman Kardon stereo, but only with the single CD player rather than the 6 disc changer - I can live with that I think; also has the base 17 inch wheels (trying to get them to maybe throw in a set of chromes). Its the white opal exterior with the cashmere interior -- which i like a lot. Also has the column mounted shifter which is fine... I got a pretty good price i think, $32K out the door.... Question: what do you think it would cost to have the chrome exhaust tips added to this car?

Yes, what about Venture? I completely forgot; great name, lousy van.

Chevrolet had better go back to the name store for the next minivan/wagon, whatever... "Uplander" is a ridiculous name for any kind of Chevrolet, especially a minivan/wagon. Some suggestions from years past (in no particular order): Townsman Beauville Nomad Kingswood/Parkwood/Brookwood/Lakewood Delray Cameo Bel Air (if its very sporty and has a very cool sunroof) Concours Any other suggestions? Anything but "Uplander".... Jeez...

I mentioned this in another forum, but I had the good fortune of renting a new 2007 Suburban LT about two weeks ago from Avis at Chicago Midway airport. I loved it; it rode so much more stable and quieter than the 2005 Tahoe that I have at home. Acceleration wasnt so hot, but then it probably had the smaller of the 2 V8's, since it was a rental -- I should've checked under the hood, but I didn't... The ride was truly superior to the last generation Tahoe, and I loved the new instrument panel, in ebony with the wood and chrome trim. The audio and HVAC controls are so much more sophisticated than the old generation, no doubt about it. I can just imagine the improved performance if this had been a Tahoe with 20 inch wheels.... Anyway, the new 'Burb is a total winner in my book, if you need a vehicle that big.

Our one year old 2005 Tahoe has had a broken liftgate handle for over a month now -- according to the local Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer that I use for service on this car, apparently GM has been using a new, cheaper liftgate handle for the last year or so, and there are like 200 backorders around the country for this specific part. The car is still under warranty, so I'm not worried about any costs, but has anyone heard anything about this? It seems incredible to me that there would be so much trouble with such an item, as this part should not have changed since the 2000 model year... What's up here? On a sidenote, I just returned from a short family vacation in the midwest, and we were lucky enough to spot a new (1600 miles on the odometer) 2007 Suburban LT on the Avis lot when we checked in for a rental car, and we got it. We drove it for a week and put about 700 miles on it, and I can tell you that it handled so much better than my 2005 Tahoe --- much more stable ride, and quite a bit quieter. The new dash is so much nicer than the old, and the radio and HVAC controls were such an improvement over the previous generation. I could really tell the difference between the old and new generations, and now I wish I would have waited a year and bought an '07 Tahoe when they first came out..... oh well...

Sorry, but as far as I know, the techno-metal-whatever panels are specific to the SS only --- all other Impala models get the woodgrain inserts.
-
I think that the woodgrain option on the Impala dash looks pretty good, actually; sure, it's plastic, but it's the best looking fake wood I've seen in any car in quite some time... It looks great on all Impala interior colors, but best on neutral and all-black dashes. The "techno-steel" or whatever it's called, looks good on the black dash too...
-
Yes you can get the aluminum trim in an SS with the neutral interior -- Ive seen it several times. Actually, the aluminum trim comes standard with an Impala SS --- you have to order the woodgrain panels as a no-cost option if you want them. To be honest with you, tho, the aluminum trim looks a lot better on the gray or black dashes than it does on the neutral.
-
Yes, thanks so much --- this is exactly what the car looked like --- now i just have to decide if I like this combo enough to buy it.
-
I need a Chevrolet dealer or someone else associated with the Impala ordering program to answer this question. I found an '06 Impala SS that I wanted to buy this weekend, during the zero percent financing program. It had the white exterior that I want, and the neutral leather interior with the woodgrain dash inserts, but it also had an ebony (black) dash top, steering column and steering wheel, and upper door panels. Shouldn't the neutral Impala SS interior have the slightly darker tan color on the upper dash, steering column and wheel, and tops of the door panels? I have never seen this ebony and neutral combo before; the LTZ and lower Impala models all have the two-tone neutral and tan colors. Is this neutral/ebony color combination specific to the SS, or is this particular car just an oddity??
-
It looks awesome! I love the chrome bumpers --- wish the Tahoe and Suburban would at least add some chrome inserts to their front and rear bumpers. Hope there is an uplevel option for body colored door handles and liftgate handle -- hate the black...

Well, I hope that it's all true, that the '09 Impala will be a stunner, and a hot performer too. About freaking time... As much as I like the current Impala from a performance standpoint, and I love the view from the driver's seat, the exterior could have been so much more... IF this new one doesnt have three round taillights per side, and some type of a classic Chevy egg-crate grille, then, in the immortal words of San Francisco Giants announcer Russ Hodges, for GM, its gonna be "Bye-bye Baby!" This is the car that could literally make or break GM.
-
Butt-ugly, if you ask me... The gauge area and hood over it are way too small; The concave area above the glove-box is huge; This is a big step backwards, after seeing the new dashes on the Cobalt and Impala. Is this locked in stone?
-
So, apparently, now we know --- the '06 Impala will have a 3 year run, until the '09 comes out... I can't wait to see some sketches or blurry pics, or something.... Too bad Lutz wasn't in the Chevy design center, lifting the blue curtain on the new Impala, instead of the '08 CTS, on "60 Minutes" last night... Please GM, make this new one the car that officially brings GM back -- lots of chrome (or at least SOME); egg-crate grille; curves in all the right places; 3 taillights per side; plenty of room for 6 passengers; the best interior ever for an Impala (styling cues from the 61/62, or 68 instrument panels); top of the line to sell for no more than 32.5K, mid-level for 25K, base for 19.5K. BRING IT ON!!

hey, Thanks, Tim -- I'm located up in the Sacramento area --- I'll try Mike Daugherty or John L Sullivan, two of the larger volume dealers up here.

Any dealer guys here than can advise me on what I should expect to pay for a fully loaded Impala SS (maximum sticker price $30,665.00)??? No one seems to be discounting all that much yet....
-
OK, I'm ready to take the plunge!! At my local Chevy dealer, I've found a gorgeous new Impala SS, loaded with everything, which stickers out at $30,665.00. Is anyone paying full sticker or close to it, for a new Impala SS now? How much of a discount can I reasonably expect? I have an 04 Impala LS to trade, in perfect condition, with 34K miles on it, fully paid for. Anyone have any thoughts??

The Cadillac/GMC dealer in Woodland, CA has about 6 or 7 new '07 Escalades on their lot now; most are either light beige/cream color or black. They also have several '07 Yukons...

My two favorite Oldsmobiles: 1968 Cutlass S Holiday Coupe; greenish-bronze metallic exterior, white vinyl seats, black dash and carpet; ours had the 5.7 (350) V-8, a total rocketship; it was the first car that I got to drive when I got my license; 1988 Olds Delta 88 Royale Brougham 4-door sedan; white exterior, beige leather interior, wire wheels, 3.8 V6; I felt like I was driving a small Cadillac, it was so smooth and quiet; I had a very generous boss in those days who let me buy this car for my company vehicle (thanks, Uncle Al!!)...
