Chevrolet News:Chevrolet Sonic RS Starting At $20,995
caddycruiser replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Sign me up for Sonic Gray. Looks awesome, nice subtle changes. Not that I need a car, but swap the Subie as a small down payment and I'd lease an RS one of these. Great car. -
When brand new, on MSO and straight to the dealer, no. Criswell Chevy in Maryland did it a few times, and GM came after them. What you now see is you can go on GM Certified, Ebay, etc and find GM company demo cars, etc with a few thousand miles now CPO. As with other police cars, even without full police equipment, regulations say no.

^^Classic always has a lot of interesting Chevy's in store, with a ton of Camaro's and Corvette's too. Haven't been to the mall area in a while. Wonder which local agencies those Caprice's are due for? Rolling into work, not far from 30th Street Station in Philly this morning, in a big lot usually full of white commercial pickups and things I think the state uses, were 3-5 brand new also white Chevy Tahoe Hybrid's with state markings & lights. We have a lot of police spec lowered Tahoe's around Philly, but not high zoot Hybrids like these. Nice budget...and I also wonder where they'll be used.

Another iQ yesterday, this time orange and outside Target. Before that, a white one at Ikea.

I looked at a 2013 Sonic LT hatch with the 1.4L turbo and automatic on a local lot today. Nice car. Don't like the smaller LT wheels as much as the LTZ larger, but the new for 2013 color screen audio made the dash even nicer. Well done small car. If I ever buy or lease a car of my own again, hatch/wagon is a requirement just for usefulness.

Copied from Jeep.com: Payload Capacity - Standard 925 lbs. 925 lbs. 925 lbs. Towing Capacity - Maximum 2000 lbs. 2000 lbs. 2000 lbs. Towing Capacity - Standard 1000 lbs. 1000 lbs. 1000 lbs.

Sonic. Saw a brand new silver LTZ hatch the other day, and it just looked great and even high grade with the LTZ wheels, silver paint, and small chrome bits. I'd drive it. The Silverado is antique. If a 2014 perhaps, but a 2013 is just too antique and outclassed at the moment. That even with me still liking the SUV counterparts, and would drive a Tahoe/Avalanche/etc. even now without second thought. Truck, too big, too much, too old. Of the 2, the Patriot is still almost tied in that 1-2 spot. How many miles?

New 2013 VW CC with NY tags cruising along tonight. Nice front & rear changes, and color.
-
Black ice CTS-V with black wheels in traffic. I was in a TL SH-AWD at the time and we kept meeting up red light to red light. Fun.
-
Random Ferrari cruising into work. What a commute, necktie and all, Mr. Ferrari.
-
White diamond XTS turning into traffic ahead of me, Saturday night in the rain. The size/rear styling are very distinctive.

Maybe. In a bizarre dream, perhaps. That said, holy story Randy, really.

Last evening I was beside a dark blue base model at a light. With the old base wheels (carryover from 2007), black plastic door handles and basic blob shape with nothing fresh except the grille, lights and some rear treatment, you have to look close to spot that there's anything fresh. The package & size is here, but the next re-do needs to be totally re-shaped, and gain character. It's a bland weird blob now, and when a base model, looks like 2006 driving down the road.

Edge remains an extremely popular package, and now is so much more refined than the 1st gen. Except for the electronics that can still be balky at times, seems to be doing well and I almost see more 2011+ models than the older now. The EcoBoost 2.0L is a great powertrain, except for having to work hard enough that the real fuel economy isn't that much better than the V6. Slab sided bathtub looks and 70's esque terribly mushy seats with no support aside (my 2 big peeves from the 1st gen carried right over), nice ride. When considering my CX-9 before I bought, I tried the new for 2011 Edge at work several times and liked, but could never get comfortable and the seats reminded me of a 90's Aerostar. I would still pick the CX-9, etc. over it however, in the end, for a more polished look, package and drive, even with lower fuel economy and older tech gizmos. Hope the next round of this with updated powertrains competes on mileage. Wonder how many Ecoboost Edge and Explorers Ford is selling? The F-150 took off, and dealers are ordering these crossovers so equipped, but not sure of published percentages.

3...count them...3 new Scion iQ's in different spots in & outside of Philly today. !st one black, 2nd one orange, 3rd one white. Tiny tall little thing. Bizarre to see so many in such a short time.

Charcoal gray Dodge Dart at the city dealer. Red one from a few weeks back is still there, just changing spots around the lot.
-
Black 2013 Acura ILX's everywhere. I sold one late Saturday. Then this morning and afternoon 2 black base model ones in Manayunk here in Philly, on the street. Then later another black upper level trim one. They look good and very fitting on the street. More to come. Followed by a badly painted dull lime green older PT Cruiser, 2 girls piloting down the street.

Solid review. The Terrain is extremely well sorted, and although I didn't first like the look, in person, on the road, and especially after one was added to the family, I think it looks great where the Equinox is well done but blands out for me. My mother is up to about 23k+ on her 2011 SLT-1 AWD with the 3.0L, and having put more miles on it faster than any previous vehicle, zero issues and still pleased with the 3.0L smoothness, power and fuel economy. Continues to do well on fuel, especially versus the 3.6L in her Camaro before, and the 3.0L is a butter smooth revver. Doesn't initially seem torquey but likes to rev and moves smoothly. Now if only it had rear seat vents for the HVAC, their only complaint. Large inside and can get hot/cold in the back seat area. Black & chrome. Sharp tester.

Great news, on both accounts. How is your commute vs. before?
-
Purple ex cop car Crown Vic (a pillar light hole plugged) with 24"+ wheels and lift kit outside Target. Sure. 2 weeks ago, XTS and Fisker. This week...donked.
-
Black Cadillac XLR in south Philly. A few streets later, the carbon copy twin red '96 Legacy 2.5GT of my wagon, but in sedan form.
-
One more! Forgot... At the Enterprise central hub/lot around the corner from work, a car hauler with 6 new Chevy Sparks. 1 yellow, 2 green, and more importantly, 3 in that very pale pastel pink. All with alloy wheels. Looked good. Drove around & past several times, not sure if any got dropped off there or not.

In action spot. Standing at the gas pump near our current southwest Philly spot, also across from an intersection, I heard tires squealing and a distinct V6 burble. Turned to see a white 2012 Impala with NY tags and a, hmm, "dude", behind the wheel, front windows down, foot to the floor taking off and turning left. W-body + LFX V6 at full tilt + steering turned left = very confused and scrambling front wheels, and one odd sound. Odd. Roar.

Took the Whoopy Subie to dealer this morning for service, trans and differential fluid. Torque bind when turning at low speeds is its only vice. Changed them both, and told me it likely needs clutch rebuilds (I expected some kind of answer like this) after their road test. New fluid in, it is smoother but didn't make the bind go away yet. Better though. Fine for me. May change again in a few hundred more miles. Told me to drive it and see if I want to do anything more. Hit the car wash on the way home. Not something I ever would do with a newer car, but on this it's the only way. Metallic red sure shines up nicely.
