Just dug a metric ton of photos out...before I start scanning, here's a good one with me from, hmm, '87-88?

Gosh no...that just makes it WORSE! Snow has never equated to pretty to me, I think, unless I was 6 and sledding on the first few days of a big storm. Otherwise, yeck. Disgusting mess that doesn't just dry away quickly. IMHO, of course 1:30am in southern Delaware, furnace cranking, it's 20 degrees (about as cold as it gets here), and with random once an hour gusts so hard, you get creaky wall syndrome. Take me away, oh take me away...to Texas...or San Diego...

Holy crap...the book about my life right now...how'd you know:blush: Seriously, right now, on the 2nd day of 2010 I'm 95% determined to make the big changes I NEED, happen. Just fell down & got back up at the start of this hall...the sculpture is a bit further down...

Nice to know! It was just a random idea once, and there's a lot of places to choose from...if for god's sake I ever had the time and money to travel. I want California weather, essentially, but open to anywhere that also has positive living/work/$$/etc. conditions to do it in. Otherwise, free as a bird...don't want insane heat and dust...but want no snow or a next to nil amount and no lower than the 40's most of the time... I feel so at home when I get back to Southeastern PA, if only I could move the region to some place else with better weather

Anyone up for a C&G Meet & Tour in January...

That could be worked out OCD me just doesn't want to get his clean car dirty--well, that is, if I have 32 or higher temps a weekend from now until then to get it up to snuff--but otherwise is set to roll. Not much further than where I just was a few weeks back getting my exhaust done. I seem to hit PA and rack insane miles up regardless on ole G8, so what's a few more. As of now, works for me. Things change quickly, but if I commit, I'm good to go. I'd like to say have an alternate in case of bad weather, etc. that we could call 2-3 days before, but I don't know how that would work, Roger. Last year this time was fairly okay, I think? -
I hate BOTH... The cold means it's uncomfortable to be outside and/or, depending on how much so, no cleaning el car-o unless I want an ice cube. The wind means crap gets blown all over, and without a garage, there's more of an annoyance. Car aside, both stink and anymore I'm so tired of the cold--and all the constant raining around here lately--I want warm. Lots of it. And dry. Thought of moving to, say, Arizona based on jobs and such a few days ago and leaving that area open as a possibility because of it. If I could go without ever seeing snow again, and almost never being frostbite cold, I think I'd be happy even if that means more barren. Oh well.

23rd tentatively sounds good for me too, weather permitting As for chocolate world, cool, but not a must. Cars are most important...I really want to see this AACA place... -
Platinum White Tri-Coat '10 Taurus Limited...I've been unsure of the butts on these things, and I still am a bit, but in traffic and against so many other new or recent cars, it had great presence. The big blue oval doesn't help, but still. Nice car.

whiteknight...Yes, in every way. Especially the floaty, but my brother loves it, and that's all that matters. Well, engine aside. That thing is just a disgrace, and unbelievable such a low power carb'd powerplant was still being used into the 90's. But alas Still legendary. Had an 80's black Regal try to race me a few weeks back, and although I won, it was very cool hearing that turbo squawk as he punched it. Heehee
-
Yeah, I'm not a fan of my brother's '86 Regal LTD...but it looks cool. Otherwise it continues to amaze me how awful the Olds 307 in it is, looking like Medusa underhood and barely putting out the power of a modern 4-cyl on top of burning oil galore at 80k miles. That, and I know this is why people love them, but the seats, dash, and general ride/feel on the road feel like a car from the 60's. Alas, 24 years after his was built, it's still together and still going daily and getting positive attention & comments along the way. They were legendary in that way & still have the cool presence, when not trashed.

I need to dig out the pictures...need to find them...scanner ready...soon...

Ahem, yes...as a few of you GM peeps have said Just as long as GM heads the warning I Tweeted Chris Preuss, too many of us Zeta previewers have had the wrong kind of preview on a few things that need to be resolved pre bazillions of them return. Otherwise, the glorious dream boats serve to make lots of Happy New Year! Going to be one of moving up & on for me, and finally getting things into order, car aside--2009 may have seen a bit much of that. But it was the one fun part of the year. 2010...it even looks & sounds new and fresh...

If it's cold but a dry, sunny weekend...cool...hope I can make it... Wow, it is January! -
Another one that just had me LAUGHING hysterically and other drivers around me chuckling & pointing... A black '04ish Corvette (local car, too...never seen it before though) that was stock except for one addition--a set of those big fleshy balls dangling between the 2 center exhaust tips Awesome, hah, cruising down Rt. 1. I wish I could have seen who was driving it...

Agreed. I actually like where Buick is now with the Lacrosse & Enclave, marketing and otherwise. Well, mostly. But when something like the GS comes around...rather than just be "that one" only magazines know about & no one else cares, marketing and ballsy marketing better be cool. But also still Buick. "Bad to the bone..." with a, hmm, car like the 80's Regal is not Buick and it shouldn't be, but there's a way to get that KIND of message across in a modern way...hope they figure out how! And again...the car or otherwise...there were parts of that 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix commercial that just were good for Pontiac...a bit abstract, but you wanted one...or I did. Since that point, Pontiac just lost all marketing, etc. and it showed painfully through this past year.

I like your style, rather it be in a Cobalt or a Colorado

I know! I was looking at the G6 & Camaro, looked over and WHOA...immediately thought of you before I even started over. It was just perched there for a reason. You wouldn't mind the 2.9L I-4, would ya...well...and 2wd?

Oh I so DO! I must dig them all out & start scanning...dad's & mom's...lots of stuff many years ago Cool Charger. Before my father's current '68 Coronet, Mopar wise, he at least had another '68 Coronet, followed by a '69 Coronet, followed by a '70 Coronet I grew up with going to shows & such when we lived in PA...also mixed in a '69 Chevelle, a '70 Chevelle, a '57 Chevy, an MG, a little old Datsun truck, a Ford Galaxy of some kind, a...

Went for a spin today to check out some of my latest work in houses being built, then to the GM dealer in Lewes since they're closed. Several other people--including a Honda Element checking out new Enclaves--had the same idea. 1) Last new Pontiac. 2009.5 (has the interior updates) GXP in Dark Steel Gray with Light Taupe 2-tone leather. Call me crazy, but I've loved it since it appeared, batwing & all. Wish I could buy it, with the crazy deals, for a 2nd runabout. Second G6 I drove was a GXP coupe back in 2008, and I wanted one since then, even after my lemon GT situation. The color combo certainly makes this one pop. 2) Camaro 2SS. Red Jewel with Beige leather (the last 2 they ordered have been beige interior equipped), the first time I've seen it and I like it. I'd take this car too, just would have to remove the grotesque GM accessories billet fuel door. Bleh. 3) Camaro 2LT. Imperial Blue with Beige leather, again. Like mom's, as a 2LT, but no RS and that makes a big difference, but still very nice with the polished 19's, sunroof, and beige leather. 4) Canyon regular cab in Gray Green. I don't know what it is, but between the new colors--this is the BEST, period--new wheels and other touch ups, these small trucks have been looking terrific in the past couple of years. This one was parked off to the side and caught my eye immediately, especially the color--really pops, even if the pics make it look drab. I parked my G8 by the red Camaro & gray G6 and someone was eyeing it when I walked across the lot...no, you can't have it
-
Neighbor down the street who's had a fire engine red late model Envoy for a while, now brought a maroon Terrain home to be its little brother. Nice driveway, even if I don't like the colors on either.
-
Perfect. Agreed. Yes. Many less than great things happened worldwide, and in my own life, all the G8 experience aside, it's not gone exceedingly well. Good riddance. 2010 is going to be one of change. My 2010 horoscope prediction said so

Since I went newer old before, now this. We've all seen it many times I think, but still. Wow, compare Buick then with things like this and even thinking about playing "Bad to the Bone" in a commercial, with a new Lacrosse beating the pants off & setting on fire a competing Lexus...quiet tuned, voluptuous, FWD/AWD, and then some. Hmmm...wonder what they'll be able to do to keep this image but make it "cool!" for the Regal GS...
-
I miss Oldsmobile, just like Pontiac. Ahh... Maybe not as legendary as the G-bodies, but most are still around & they were the good of the 90's. Questionable marketing, but still cool cars! Not the oldest, but still old GM...this was actually pretty damn good Pontiac marketing & gave the modern Pontiac "feel" well...I wanted one from the ad... More than I would or still ever would "want" a Chevy from an ad, especially if you compared an Impala of the time...cars or marketing...both so vital to GM then & now.
-
Good point, ocnblu Bad times, but these were good IMHO, for the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuqEyGHiq6g

I hate to agree...but yes... The G-bodies were cool cars, but cool at a bad time in GM. They certainly were nothing world class in terms of build quality or powertrain...but if they had been, hmm, then maybe something. For the era and vs. the competitor's, they still stood out. And there's a metric ton of them 20 years later, which says something. Not the best of old GM, but better than a lot & continue to make memories--I'll say that.
