  1. Agreed. I like 'em too, boring to death warmed over look & all. They certainly have the most sublime ride/handling/upper trim interiors vs. the Camaro and others. Great drivers coupe, just not a voluptuous "show car" or with the balls of a Camaro. Yin and yang, side by side. If only the Mustang look change as was significant for '10 as it was in '05, it might actually be doing well right now vs. ye old 'Maro.
  2. Technically...this car got it at least once in the rear too, somewhat gently, as we found Otherwise, seems like the process is off to a decent start, and having gone through it twice with 2 Fleetwoods in years past, I'm here for Roger & any pointers.
  3. Wow, that is great...deedoodeedoo...and so accurate...at least with the life & personality aspect, for sure. I'm 747,170,980 seconds old...no...747,170,981...
  4. Pulled out of work for coffee this morning and was behind this. Otherwise stock, and a very nice looking Black/Sandalwood '03ish TB LTZ with an older couple up front--white hair and all. Typical. Then I saw the exhaust & knew it wasn't, followed by the guy trailing me and pointing while talking to his wife. Cool. And nice pipes...though, over my Corsa, and just cruising, I didn't hear it. Blurry, but nice big, polished tips & looked like an aftermarket catback of some sort.
  5. Hmm...Borger, Borger, Borger.... ...I like the sig pic by the way. And I know exactly where I've seen the full collection before, thanks to a Camaro5 member with very good taste
  6. I like it! And I want one...
  7. I just had a conversation about that yesterday too...hah. When discussing my G8 situation with my brother over the weekend, after just looking at my odometer & realizing it's still not yet a year, I said a) I need to find a slightly used GXP or another G8 of some form before too long when I have a bazillion miles on this one or they've all been used well and b) I'd actually like it to be a stick...just because. That was THE package to have. And in this car, as much as I enjoy the 6L80E, I just really, really, really, really want to drive and have one that's a stick...plain and simple. It'd accelerate my lacking stick skills pretty quickly. Of course I'd buy another auto too, because especially with a tune it's a scalded beast and runs like butter with no effort, but if one could be found...Mr. Gotta Shift It would be fine by me. As long as it isn't Liquid Red
  8. Too young. But by association, dad bought, completely re-built, repaired, painted, engine swapped, etc. a red '57 Chevy back in the early 80's. I need to find the pictures of that thing...of his endless line of oldies and build from shells, I always wished that one was still around for me to have at least seen and ridden in once.
  9. This one has my mind going in circles some days, when I drive mine. A rare GT, as it is, in Pacific Slate and Premium/Sport with no roof, I'd have trouble replacing it as is right now let alone years down the line. A lot of GT's are being just as pampered, just modded to different degrees such as mine, and GXP's are just scant all together. GXP's are mainly seeing wheel swaps, tunes, intakes, and exhaust. Not terribly much else, at least not enough to harm them. Months back I was very close to seriously trying to buy what was one of the last Pacific Slate/Auto GXP's. What stopped me is it would have to be a daily driver and though a car is a car, between what I had already modded on my GT and how many miles I know I rack up, it sort of defeated the "special-ness" of it. In reality, there's such a small difference in every way between a GT and GXP, yet the rarest form of a rare car makes it cool. Period. Still plan on finding one, because with 14.5k miles in 10 months on my GT, I can't see anything else giving me the same package for anywhere near the same price when the time comes. I've thought about a Camaro, but now with one in the family, I like it but it's just not the same package. I'd still buy one, but it can't do everything a G8 can and won't be nearly as rare or special, by any means. So I'm already plotting to find another G8 in time to come, hopefully a GXP, and be able to either split use between the two or keep one a little more preserved. The "special" car market from the past decade or two is going to get interesting. GTO's, G8's, rare truck combo's--I still also want one of the next to none '08+ 2wd Tahoe's with the 6.2L option...not a package you can't get in another model, but special regardless--and then older, things like the G bodies, B/D bodies, etc. LOVE new GM, but at the same time, there's a lot from recent times that retain a big "want" factor and that new GM won't produce the likes of again...
  10. Clay bar is the ticket, always. Whether it be a well used vehicle or one brand new--I couldn't believe the grit I got out of mom's month old, just delivered '08 Malibu paint 2 years ago--there's almost always some debris. Especially the stuff that looks like rust, and ends up freaking people out on their new vehicles, especially light colored ones. Clay bar & it should be gone.
  11. I like, for obvious reasons Pretty much all of them to rental fleets were lightly optioned 1LT cars, like yours, and many of which have already come back on the resell market with low miles. Debatable, but a great way to get more people interested...and hopefully not thrashing them around too harshly. Nice upgrade. As shown with the child seat, not exactly a family car--my mother is coming to grips with that finally 2 weeks into hers--but never was meant to be.
  12. Mine too! Wow, even I like it...ah, memories of dad's green '69 when I was young
  13. Jeez! Well, if you need any help getting the pieces, I'll happily assist I was heartbroken when the entire side was peeled off of my '95, but thanks to finding every single piece I needed used, the car was rebuilt & better than ever despite the age. We'll fix it...then again, in all honesty, now yours looks even more like the classic old lady example with crumpled corners. Ours were both scraped, albeit lightly. It shall be fixed! Just consider it a little bruise!
  14. Happy Birthday Roger! Hope that big black mobster ride is still doing well...enjoy the rest of the day
  15. Great! And intriguing differences you've noted in the '10 Impala...particularly of interest to me since it seems--since you'd certainly know the car well--one of the biggest issues, namely the argh rear seat has seen unannounced improvements.
  16. My brief take, from what I've seen & heard... 1) Roger brought this up again when I was helping fix the windows on his Fleetwood...I'm still game, the issue seems to just be who could/would make it, when, weather (since it is PA...and winter...) and so forth. Hit the right weekend, it could be great. Anymore news? The issue right now is the who/how, mostly, since a lot of "us" seem tied up or the weather is crap. 2) IDK... 3) IDK...but that'd be awesome... 4) IDK... 5) East'rs...yes...big event, coming together, somewhere central...Philly, Jersey, something. Just like #1, but bigger & later for a different climate, bigger plans, more C&G'ers, etc. Sounds good. Any ideas?
  17. Good sign. I have a fellow G8'er & good friend who's retired in Bethlehem that works for his local Ford dealer as a "runner" doing nothing but taking dealer trades away & back and for part time, he's ALWAYS busy with it My "search & figure it out" continues and I hope as the year turns, early 2010 brings me the chance to move up & on far, finally. Time to finally put some of the, uh, $$ engineering degree to work; "beach" life only has its perks for so long...believe it or not.
  18. Yes! That's the spirit! These 2 must sit in it (okay, it's barely done anything yet, but still...any goo...), but at least the Chief could show an SUV or 2 how it's done with a near 50/50 weight balance, a skilled driver & new A/S Goodyear meats. Heck, it did earlier this year on ice with summer treads We're keeping mom & the 'Maro planted because after too many "...with 20" summer tires..." it's just not happening.
  19. I want a truck as my #2... Hey...there's a return of an old idea...
  20. Mmm, not a bad combo http://www.gmbuypower.com/ws/nvlWindowSticker.vs?make=gc&makeDescrip=GMC&style=4wd%20ext%20cab%20pickup&makeId=012&vehicleModel=/images/gmbp/48012/vehicle/2010/med/2010187.gif&year=2010&sellingSource=48&subModel=&subModelId=187&BAC=233198&modelId=051&pvc=69208&mmc=TT15653&modelDesignator=TT15653&brand=Canyon&model=Canyon&type=3SA&typeDescrip=3SA&styleDescrip=4wd%20ext%20cab%20pickup&styleId=4wd%20ext%20cab%20pickup&partnerID=900001&userType=&searchType=4&VIN=1GTJTCDE9A8113399&nav=&iPi=5&fPi=5&dPath=FRDP&linksInCCT=true&zip=17557&dealerName=TURNER%20BUICK%20PONTIAC%20GMC&dealerURL=http://www.turnernewholland.com/en_US/HomePage&distance=0.0&dealerStreet=612%20E%20MAIN%20ST&dealerCity=NEW%20HOLLAND&dealerRegionCode=PA&dealerPostalcode=17557-1425&dealerBpManagerName=Kurt%20Ziemer&dealerBpPhone=%28717%29%20354-4451&nameplateids=012^004^002^ And the Reverse it also had...hmm...no R...that makes for some interesting plowing..."just keep going...eh...plow over a little extra in loops"
  21. PERFECT review. Couldn't have said it better myself. Odyssey, like Hondas in general, feels too raw, thin, hard and coarse but still has something "quality" about it overall, as long as you don't mind rattles & creaks with your quality Lambdas are smoother, more solid, more refined, etc., etc. but also feel big and a bit boaty but not at all floaty because of it--they're like space ships, quick, smooth, luxurious, terrifically tuned spaceships. A Flex would be a nice in between, a little trimmer and crisper on the road, lower, still big space like a van, and with Ecoboost some real beans. Well, unless the fact that Mr-Boost-Me is only available on $37k+ models, which is a bit annoying, but maybe will change in time.
  22. A Voga edition, perhaps? Sounds like it. The Milan is such a nice looking sedan...even for a light refresh, big change and ritzier in the right ways than the Fusion.
  23. Yet, funny, talking with my Pontiac dealer in Jersey where I got the G8 and go back to from time to time, who have 1 white Solstice left they just can't get rid of--"I did sell a black one to an old guy, though, he said this white one was too boring but black was just right"--it is and was such a small market of buyers, they don't mind much. Especially the coupe. That was the highlight of an oddball that few wanted, I was told. They had a Ruby Red coupe for about a month and when I asked how long it took to sell I was told they didn't, but since no one was at all interested in it with the remove & leave it roof, etc. they dealer traded it off at the first chance they could. Great little car I'd still buy, but yeah, not for everyone. But the looks...oh, the looks...add in the Pontiac arrowhead & even uncomfortable on the thin & squishy cheap seats (so much like a Vette there too), and the G8 would love little brother. Make mine an auto GXP coupe, in, uh, Gray or Ruby Red, please.
  24. Hah. Well, this was the first one I've never had to push for, just been begged essentially. And though she actually loved the Malibu like she did the Avalanche she had years back and cried over when trading in for a Suburban, never said a word about it that night and I had to do all the moving over of stuff. Actually, another funny thing from that night. Waiting and waiting for the poor guys in the back to PDI it starting at service closing time, just chatting and looking at other cars, and when it was ready to go, the salesman drove it up front & parked beside the Malibu. Swapped over the last few things, shook hands, and before I could even close the passenger's door, she had it in gear and rolling. "Whoa!" as she hadn't even adjusted her mirrors or seat yet, the seat belt still wasn't in the seat loop, but we were rolling and on the street in a town she didn't know. Never done that before. Every time she surprises me. Used to comment about friends/co-workers who traded their cars every 1.5-2 years, around about, but hasn't been able to for a while. I hope the 'Maro is as good if not better than my G8 and all of her recent GM's in the "nothing is wrong" department...the Oshawa build quality thankfully seems to continue as some of the best within GM.
  25. Great pic. I've always wanted one and still want one, Pontiac factor especially. When we were doing the Camaro deal on Monday evening and the salesman said to me "just let me know when you want your next one" after we G8 chatted, I almost said..."hmm...Solstice coupe...0%...I'll, uh...park it...somewhere...".
