It sounds like the best of a situation that otherwise could be bad, and that's a very good thing. I think you're in a good area, with solid business and able management, so cheers to everything staying on as it is and better. The uncertainty can drive you insane, try not yo let it

Anyone up for a C&G Meet & Tour in January...
caddycruiser replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
I can't make it either, but sounds great on the re-schedule. Gotta see this place. I'd say just move to February, but to get a bigger number, maybe just a bit more pre-notice. Toss up on February or March, but I'll say March. Let's just chatter possible dates & narrow down from there? -
Hot Mom rollin'...in her new Camaro;-)
caddycruiser replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
She's still a few miles under 1k, but...damaged it today. And in a way she's NEVER done with any car before. Out shopping with my father, and decided to swing into a space next to a curb "mad at your father, he was driving me crazy" (of course, hah) and SCRAPE. Nice, big long scrape along the edge of the driver's front polished wheel and then a small one after it "because it scraped going in and then I had to reverse away". Doesn't look bad and only on the edge, so I'm determined to fix it for her. I did the same to the SAME wheel on my G8 at 1500 miles, but just replaced the wheel because it was so cheap. I've never heard her so distraught about such a thing. Usually mad, but not "I feel sick..." to go with it. Ah, jeez. Lesson from me, AGAIN? Do NOT park or go near curbs, period. You can't see out of this car, you have huge polished wheels that stick out, etc., etc. and again, you can't SEE out of this car well enough to judge. Gotta be nice to her. She's in mourning and not looking at the car the same, heh. Otherwise, ALL good nearing 1k...sheesh, she doesn't put any miles on like I do... -
I was just thinking the same thing. Will again when I step in a combination of sloshy white gravel & mud tomorrow, getting in 'ole G8... Little things...insulation, etc., maybe. The floor is a big matter, but aside from gravel or some kind of pavers, I don't know how you could change it without a bigger expense/time change.

Hilarious...the best part...how many have been in a dealer and gotten a human EXACTLY like that? EXACTLY...and why it's so funny Great marketing, whoever it's for.

Being someone who's "in charge" of this type of stuff, I know, I know. We can tell how much so from the sheer number of "can I get 3x that one optional extension?" or someone who literally just got an 18ft extension on a 20ft garage. A lot of times, if a production builder, it's just so things fit, otherwise it's one of those "standard" sizing things. But you're right about how tight it is in so many. Come to Delaware, and the typical setup...people have a garage, but they never park a car in it. Instead, you'll see a car in the driveway, the garage door open & nothing but STUFF packed from wall to wall. Part a side effect of not having basements in a lot of cases, part a side effect of people moving to the beach from their old PA/NJ/etc. monster homes and used to having closets as big as their current garage

Yesterday...G8 day... 1) Pacific Slate '09 V6 sitting at a gas station right next to the dealer, flat front tire, old guy in the driver's seat on the phone. Should have stopped to help him! 2) Red GT with the Sport 19's & out of state tags at the dealer, lady sitting in it, as I think her husband/sons checked out a new Camaro...I rolled past & waved 3) Black GT with the standard 18's, filthy as could be, on a back road after I had just overtaken a slow mo Camry...got the "nod" Then a brand new, fresh from dealer yellow Camaro SS/RS with black or gray stripes and MD temp tags, I think a new local car just purchased out of state. HOT.

I just need one period...funny, I had a garage at my APARTMENT of all things while at Villanova, but moving back home then, there's lots of cars, and lots of nice ones at that, but still just a white gravel & mud driveway. Well, unless you count the 60's Mopar which got it's own storage shed built, of sorts, even with electricity now, while everything else continues exposed. Garage...my first requirement if I ever buy/build/etc. a house myself some century. Heated, cooled, storage galore, lighting, space, and so on. I'm a big fan of some of the monster 3-car+ garages we offer on a few models with the home builder I work for...grr...they're just incredible. I wouldn't even need much of a place to live in, just how about a nice bonus room over the garage, and I'd be set for life It's so hard to do anything outside, car or otherwise, without.

I need a storage garage in SE PA...hmm...for...

No...at least not that I know of Yes. Appreciated I have some logistics to sort out, but keeping whatever it is right in PA after sorting out registration, etc. is easiest of all. -

caddycruiser replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
I still think this is possible for me, but given my usual unexpected developments as of late, can't be definite. I want to. Not sure if I absolutely can yet. Did take the survey a week or so ago, though. -

caddycruiser replied to caddycruiser's topic in The Lounge
Sounds good. Hope to have a few options or suggestions, from some who live in the area or that I just find myself. Will need clean space for a car, about 2 full sets of extra wheel/tire combos, an exhaust system, and not much else. -
Seriously...my eye went to that before anything else in the pic

Nice guesses guys, but I don't think anyone has it yet...or do they...? Hoping everything works out, click, click, click. I have a "vision" for this one, that just makes me happy, and I won't accept a derailing -
It's odd how so many Epsilons are SO solid and others scare people away by having so many rattles, clunks, etc. I've always wondered about it, since it seems to be a higher than usual variance. May have just been my head playing with me, but it always seemed that my 2 Lake Orion built EP's--G6 & Malibu--weren't, well, something, compared to our Fairfax Malibu. I've seen the same on others I've checked out, too, from door alignment to paint. Would never make a blanket statement, but my experiences...then you'll find an older Fairfax Malibu that sounds like a kid's drum going down the road...it's all relative.

Essentially new, so, yeah, the year(s) should be self explanatory. That's NOT it though...but I LIKE the guesses! Hope I can find the right home...I don't want to have to do a storage compound joint...but some place I can get to whenever I want, not worry about crime or just sticky fingers by other people around the space, and also not be paying out the nose...also be able to swap car #1 for car #2 at any given time, whenever I feel like it, just want to spread the miles, or whatever, until I move and so on in time to come. Good thing we have such a high SE PA & NJ grouping on here...should be a big help here. -
Just one of those cars...well...you can tell from breathing on the outside door handle..."Yeah...it's a bit flimsy..." They always scared me even just parked at auto shows, but alas...

No...move up a decade and a half or so...maybe in years to come I'll pick up another one of those (or Roger's when he moves on?), but that's not it. New. So new it has miles but half of what my G8 does, and so forth. Crazy deal from a crazy guy, but he's a lot like me when it comes to his cars and what he does with them, so like minds think alike. It being in SE PA was just a sign, if there ever was one, about the future...or at least a nice keeping spot. A lot of stuff to go with it that'll take some space but not an extreme amount. Home, it needs a home, and a good one. Then I'll "figure it out" as time goes on, after paperwork and such, if all goes through. -

Hmm... That's a consideration. I'd pay decently...and it'd get a good guard... -
...a new car and some odds & ends for it. Gosh I'm good at having all new plans when I haven't even figured out the current Not locked in stone yet, but from a few cryptic notes I've made, my G8 that's seeing more and more miles soon will have a friend if all clicks through. Can't say what yet, but familiar. And, well, essentially new. "It" currently lives in Bethlehem, PA with a retired guy I met over the summer up there & all my travels. To that extent, and because this was spurred by a deal of the millennium I never expected & had to jump on, planning still to move to the Philly/NE area as soon as possible, and just not having room, etc. where I live now--I want to keep it in PA and figure it out from there. Between the car and some big parts to go with, it makes everything that much easier too. Beyond Craigslist (been browsing) for a private or other garage/warehouse space I can trust, or one of the typical "centers" of nothing but garage doors & storage galore, a big part of it means I have to figure out a place where to put it all & how much it'll cost me, as we work on the deal...any of you NE PA'ers have wild suggestions for a good car & parts keeping spot? Got a big garage yourself, heehee? Or do you just want to know what it is? Help me find the right place & maybe you can borrow it once in a while...

Not uncommon. Weird "feeling" but nothing points to anyone area or thing...

Exactly. Oh, and the wonder of new Toyota's...I love reading new Edmunds owner reviews and losing count of how many say "the roof...the doors...my dash...rattles...creaks..." If I like the car enough--Cadillac, my fully in warranty G8, etc.--I'll try to figure it out myself. Well, that, and in a lot of new car cases, unless there's a legitimate fix/bulletin/etc. that is more than you might be able to do int he driveway, noises aren't the highest priority in a dealer's service department & the most annoying/worst paying for them to solve, so yeah. Dad's '96 Legacy, wagon to boot, with almost 190k on it doesn't make a tick either except for a weird exhaust heat shield rattle sometimes. The quality of that car, especially in the rattle regard, has certainly made him notice after never caring before with his past rides.
-
I hate rattles. Hate. If I can't get rid of them myself or, in a case, the dealer can't, I honestly can never stand the car... My '95 Fleetwood was actually still rattle free for the most part at 117k when I got it, but I fixed 2-3 small "tick" noises from the interior myself over the first year. Remained that way through being sold. My '08 G6 GT coupe was "solid" in general, if it just hadn't been for the stupid roof. Between the power sunroof, the headliner, and the sunshade module, from the first day I drove it, it creaked, then started popping & rattling to the point that I had it in 4-5 times, the dealer removed everything (really? That many times didn't help) and had added extra foam, grease, tightened, etc. and no help. Also to the point that my father--who would never notice rattles in a car unless it was the sound of half of the car falling off, said "Yeah, that really is noticeable...just obnoxious enough it would bother anyone" when I took him for a drive. If only they had replaced everything in the roof...but then GM bought it back for that & other reasons. My '09 Malibu 2LT was very solid, the roof silent unlike my G6, and it made no noises until I had to have a speaker replaced in the rear shelf and after re-assembly, there was a clunkity thunk rattle inside the shelf somewhere over bigger bumps. Just enough to annoy me, of course. But otherwise, nothing. Mom's '08 Malibu 2LT was EXTREMELY impressive, not even a tick anywhere in 22k, regardless of temp, etc. Always just smooth, silent, and silky. My '09 G8 GT is a tank, only let down in 1 or 2 small spots literally where there's the cheapest plastic inside. The glovebox is the flimsiest I've ever had & with a lot of play, so the latch area will rattle on textured roads, etc. Pretty typical, haven't figured it out yet. Otherwise the only other weird one is the shifter rattles strangely deep down under the console whenever AFM kicks in, a development in the last few thousand miles. Will take it apart some day. Otherwise, solid. Mom's '10 Camaro 2LT seems good...no noises in a month+, and actually feels more solid and screwed together than even my G8. Impressive. Rattles...GRRR...not mechanical or other problems, no, but they certainly change your impression of a car, ey?

The 'ole G8 & a lot of new touches
caddycruiser replied to caddycruiser's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
Hit 15k today, wow, in 11 months. Good thing...uh... ...Jack the Pacific Slate Pontiac from Oz may be getting a new friend...soon...perhaps... We shall see...deedoodeedoo...unexpected, shocking even, development in the last 24 hours that I can't believe & hope works out... ...looking for a storage garage...perhaps...treasure...hmm... -
Funny...for DE...I don't think I even know what or where this is...well, maybe I do...or... Hmm. Then again I can't recommend any other, it's pretty much flat, straight, etc. everywhere in everyway. Some good beach & lighthouse sights at Cape Henlopen in Lewes & I like...okay...the big bridges up north, but otherwise umm...

Toyota Avalon displays unintended acceleration without floor mat
caddycruiser replied to Justin Bimmer's topic in Toyota
Exactly the same thing so many others have said, including those on the ABC Nightline report, etc. Many of whom not only had nothing touching the pedal but either had no floormats or in a panic pulled them up & over/out or their passenger did, trying to get it to stop. Yet when it goes to so many other news venues...eh, just a floor mat thing...eh, they'll give you new pedals. Cars are complicated. It happens. But issues like this should not live on for so many years, be brushed under the rug with settlement after settlement, etc. by a company with even data recorders only they can read with a bizarre 1 off prototype device... Electronic or something, but having gone on for so long, they STILL can't sort it out? Again, reminds me of the Edmunds forums with new Toyota owners comparing models they test drove and making sure to select the one with the LEAST noticeable throttle/transmission lag out of a bunch. Sure, perfectly normal, absolutely. My GM dealer salesperson/friend said it best about 2 months ago..."Toyota has never had to deal with problems and now when they do, they have no clue, the customer service is awful, and to even admit there are problems is out of their realm."
