yes indeed it's a 4-auto. Pretty smooth for a non-GM trans. Definitely WAY better than the Ansin(sp?) in the '97 Q45 And yes, if I could I'd drop her down a bit, Julie would probably approve if it was not a waste of money. Also, a cheap set of 18-20" rims would look wicked BOSS on this 8-cylinder pillar-less hardtop. Now it's time for MORE photos: I think this car has proportions like Jessica Rabbit. Esp. from profile. I'm thinking about putting a hood ornament on it... probably not the MB star, people do it but it's redundant, there's a Benz running around here with the '55 SL300 size emblem in the grille like mine, a hood ornament & a chrome plated license plate with a chrome emblem on it. I was thinking about something elegant & minimalist, perhaps a modern take on the Dusenberg arrow. Here's one more for now... I need to take some better pictures in more interesting surroundings. I personally like the one piece panel, plus I've only seen like three 126s total in my lifetime with it. All in Europe, and all sedans. (126 is my generation S-class) HEhehehHe hard to beleive I OWN an S-class M.B. And another one of Sofia, man she was as excited as I was once she saw all the windows drop.

Another reason why modern cars suck... Here's what we've accomplished since the late 1960s/early 1970s: take 3800 lbs. car remove 1800 lbs. of metal add 1800 lbs. of plastic, rubber, computer chip & sound insulation end result = Can I have my metal back? You can keep the 12 speaker radio, 5 airbags & 300 lbs. of computer hardware that makes my piston squish, fuel squirt, my valve open & close, intake read the o2 levels, sensor read my tire pressure etc...? Oooookay, well then how about getting rid of some of the toys.... power window/lock/mirrow delete? WTF do you mean I HAVE to get a moon-roof, 18" rims, extra thick floor mats, trunklid spoiler, FOUR catalitic converters, heated washer fliuid & a 10" in-dash navigation/dvd/computer if I want the (GT) package & fog-lights?

1100 horsepower under what is basically some math teacher's 1972 Chevy 2-door sedan? OK, that's a sleeper.

ok, so I've got my HP pc dissasembled down to the motherboard & separate hardware but I STILL can not find where this "inbox" is...? Can you point it out to me in this photo so I know WHAT to empty? How do I know when it's full? Also, next time instead of taking my entire computer appart with mini-screwdrivers is there a quicker way to access this "in box" ... like through my 5.25" floppy drive or CD-ROM door? I'm not so good with these kom-puh-terrs.

wow... cool. (if you're a Hon-duh fan) - that's something WE need. Hey GM: I'll take a CTS-V 6-speed manual for a short term loaner. Pleeez-n-thanx.

I was busy leaving a flaming brown-paper bag of poo on PCS' front porch. -
Gold or bronze shelby stripes would be killer on that Stalion.

Welcome to the loonybin. Careful, it's addictive! Seriously thought, best GM forum on the w/w/web. -
fixed.

Bras are lame and ruin the pain by trapping moisture, leaving fade-lines and worse still scratching up your car worse than the scratches they were supposed to prevent. PLastic seat covers, chessy or not, PROTECT a delicate or expensive interior without hiding it... just don't weat shorts in the summer. OUCH. My '64 Olds' metallic stiched, 99% mint interior would have received clear plastic seat covers had it not been for me selling it. I think you know I am in this minority. Although throw a 5-speed into the mix and i just might bite if it was cheap enough. With today's gas prices a fruity four-cam V6 with a manual might persuade me to get it for a daily driver, then flip it as soon as you'd find that one nutcase who knows how rare it is.

A guy at the Worcester Summer Nats. who had a MINT cross-fireball-less '82 Vette told me that with a little tunning the crossfire will develop 400+ horsepower. It was, according to him, sabotaged mid-development so that it would not steal the comming ZR-1's thunder. (I doubt the ZR-1 existed even in someone's imagination in the late 1970s) He was DEAD serious and got agitated when I giggled at his claim that cross-fire was one of the best GM designed high-performance developments in history.

Temple of V-tech? I'm not sure what's worse, worshiping V-tech or a gold statue of a cow, ether way if there is a real God I'm sure he dissaproves. I even like the tail lights.... the side (profile) is a little awkward. Short wheelbase, long front overhang & high belt line = goofy.

SpeedingPenguin's co-worker's Honda filled up with water in a flash flood yesterday, so he drilled two holes in the driver's footwell to let the water drain, and funnier still, the ECM was toast due to the two feet of water the car was sitting in, and he HAD a spare in the trunk because he's so used to it getting roasted, I guess it happens all the time... :wtf:

I've yet to understand how Honda managed to design a car with near-perfect proportions and a very sleek luxurious package but then make it FWD. Stupid-stupid. The Sterling/Vigor are another enigma.

Not gorgeous but way more attractive than the reecent garbage from Hon-duh/Acura. The Pilot, Rigeline, and all the new Acuras get a solid F. The new Accord is alike a D+ And this from a company that used to make the Legend, I'm no Honda fan but the 2nd gen. Legend, esp. 2dr was a sharp car.

Oh the '61-64 Continentals are among my favorite FoMoCo cars and def. my favorite post-WWII Lincolns. That concept was just a little too soft but still very nice overall, too bad Lincoln will never actually build anyhing worth buying. The Town Car, even last year was still a relevant and nice product but it should have cost about $12,000 less than what Ford was tryting to get for them.... for krissake the damn car has barelly had an update in 10+ years and the chassis makes the W-body look "new-ish" by comparison, which is scary. If someone, Ford OR GM made the investment to design a BOF car ground up with todays technology as far as hydroforming, crumple zones, side impact & rollover protection they could REALLY have something special. Now that gas is $4/gallon even that 1.5% chance that GM would bring back the B-body is dead.

wow... what a piece of trash!

You spend the gas to come hang out with me sometime we both have a 45min. window in our busy schedules, & I'll spend the gas to show you what 90mph feels like in a 4200 lbs. gvwr Mercedes with just a windshield & rear glass between you & the breeze, we'll even keep the moonroof open while the SOHC, 5.0L V8's "economy gauge" is deep in the RED zone.... and blasting a ZZ Top CD too!

Camaro Engines? 4 Cylinder Turbo considered by Lutz
Sixty8panther replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
Reason... I guess. All I'm saying is if I want performance & a big-honkin pushrod V8 I'll stuff a Cadillac 8.2 into a fiberglass '32 Ford highboy kit, & driving a modern car that gets great MPGs in an era when gas has trippled in less than a decade would free up enough money to do so. No matter how fast a modern car gets it's never as exciting as the REAL old school muscle. Esp. now that the greenhouse of the Bone-marrow will be closer to my mom's 2005 Cobalt LT than a '69 Z. I guess what I'm trying to say is if I'm going to waste gas on a V8 it makes more sense to do so on a old cheap ironblock powered classic car with antique plates, cheap insurance & cheap parts availability while also allowing me to turn wrenches, tweak the motor & perform all the maintenance without having to worry about ECMs, catalitic converters, MAFS & other obnoxious modern gizmos. For me the Camaro would be my "point-A-to-B" car that I would have little attachement to besides being a daily driver that I woud not have to hate or be ashamed of. If anyone ever sees me "driving a cute, peppy little sandstone colored Corolla to save on gas" please, do me a favor and just shoot me in the face. But I can keep my RWD-only stance, still give the finger to hybrids & all while giving GM a new car sale by buying a Camaro with a respectable 4-cylinder. I can picture a "I'd rather be driving my '59 Buick" bumper sticker on the ass end of a '12 Camaro. -
Yeah, true. Like so many other words/expressions these days the term "sleeper" has ben preverted & watered down. A real "sleeper" is a Chevette riding on reasonably sized white walls with a rosary hanging from the rear view mirror, faded beige paint & a fruity "I love Bingo" decal on the rear window. but it blows the doors off your '03 Viper, and then later when you both arrive at the carshow the hood opens and you see a twin-turbo pontiac 455.

Camaro Engines? 4 Cylinder Turbo considered by Lutz
Sixty8panther replied to hyperv6's topic in Chevrolet
A year ago I might have said "hell no, only six cylinders and more!" Fighting to keep the ecotech, even a non-turbo, out of the Camaro is just naive. My fillup this morning was at F$ing $4.27 a gallon. Now I justr came off of driving a 7.0 liter 4bbl Cadillac, & I realize the 4-cyl might barelly help MPG over a small V6 but better IS still better and the public's perception is EVERYTHING. Like several have already said... don't want a 4-cyl Camaro? Then buy a 6 or 8 and stfu. Or, if anything be happy all those chicks and broke dads of two are buying 4 cylinders as they just might be helping to justify the cost worthiness of the 6th gen. Camaro since we've come full circle and it's 1974 all over again. I'd love a hardtop Camaro but the factory will not give me one, you guys are complaining because you're getting MORE choice and still get to have what you want in the end. I'll gladdly buy a 4-banger Camaro if it costs $21,500 or whatever for a stripped out one and I can justify to Julie "but it gets three times the fuel economy of my B-59" or whatever my classic car is at that point. If I was offered a hardtop Camaro at a $1500 premium I'd gladdly take it and be happy as pigs in $hit. You guys are complaining because your V8s will be that much more rare & sleeper worthy, that makes no sense. -
Perfect it's not but I'm pretty skilled at taking flattering photos. It needs a good cleaning, a few small rust issues need to be addressed in the rear 1/4s before they get serious and as we speak the driver's door panel is off and I have a big project ahead of me with the window regulator. Once that is fixed, an oil change is in order as well as a general safety inspection... I smell gas fumes from time to time emminating from the rear of the car, was told by seller the gas tank does NOT leak but that does not mean a fuel line or evap. emmissions line is not leaking. Aside from that and the lifter noise which does not seem to affect performance, the car is an awesome driver. For those that have never taken a 2-ton german V8 car down the highway at high speed (obviously with good tires etc.) I assure you it's a fun experience... add to that a pillarless greenhouse with all four windows down and it's ectacy.
