New VE Commodore pics!
Very cool... I also love the Datsun Bluebird wagon in that pic. It's my Maxima with 2-fewer cylinders.

Camaro given the go ahead
I for one do not doubt for a 1/2 sec. that the Camaro is production bound... but I think some of this info is WAY off... esp. the build location. Even Canada is more likely than AU.

Death of the V8?
Here's a COLD, HARD fact that you can;t ignore: It takes displacement (and therefore gas) to make power. ONe of the reasons why I thikk it's stupid to put $40,000 into a FWD/4-banger Civic or Celica is that in the end you have a $h!ty four cylinder engine that makes a lot of power but eats up just as much gas as an equvelant V8. Neon SRT4s may only have 2.0 liter Four cylinders but they get abotu 10-14mpg on average. That sucks. It's right about what I get wiht my carburated, 5.7 liter 1968 Camaro. Now where's the savings? If this argument is to be relevant then explain how exactly V6s and V8s of the same displacement vary in terms of MPG? Why not just downsize a nice smooth V8 instead of having a big V6? I'd love to see the Chrylser 300C have standard V8 power. Give it a 3.0 and 4.0 baby V8s and drop the V6 all togeatehr. That's a more realistic possibility than this "V8s are dead premisse".

Death of the V8?
ZL-1: I truly beleive if Cadillac produced the SIXTEEN concept true to form they could charge even a half a million for it and have every one of them sold before they're even made. It's a car that would make Bentley & Rolls Royce look like the over hyped Cadillac wannabes they really are. The V16 powerplant is a no brainer for Caddy. V10s suck and V12s are just plain pedestrian these days... seems like every basketball player or rap star has a V12 powered Ferrari, Bentley, BMW, MB or Lamborghini. The V16 from the 1930s was the very definition of Capitalism and excess... it was said by W.O. Bentley himself to transcend the definition of a "automobile". A production SIXTEEN would not only make Cadillac the standard of the world but it would make GM look vibrant, healthy, energetic and on a roll... perception is everything. A business professor once told me the that when you're business is in trouble and you need a miracle often times the best thing you can do to salvage it is to take risks, spend money and appear more suiccessful than your competitor. Fu*k the shareholders and wall street, it's the consumers who count and they will all be blownb away by a car as marvelous as the SIXTEEN. If I could only have one car for the rest of my life it would be that concept. Not the Veyron or McLaren but the SIXTEEN. That car in production guize would be the epitome of mega-rich. It would be as close as you could get to a 21st centry Deusenberg this side of WWII.

Pontiac: Nothing but rwd cars?
Reg: Seriously give it up buddy... I daily drove a RWD 1984 Datsun this past winter through all kinds of snow... me & XP took several roadtrips in BIG RED as well wiht it's 425 & RWD, SP's daily driver was a 1996 Mustang Cobra and other friends we have drive RWD pickups, F-bodys and 80s G-bodys through the New England winters. RWD is not the problem... plenty of RWD cars are selling like hotcakes in these parts. This past winter I saw Chargers, 300s, new Mustangs and even a lot of RWD Cadillacs on New England roads, even in nasty, icey, blizzard-condition roads. People back in the 1950s could navigate just fine in RWD cars with bias ply tires but now in 2006 with better plowing, sanding & salting not to mention traction control & Blizzaks everyone is incapable all of a sudden? C'mon... you guys said yourself RWD does not help the 300C & Charger but it obviously does not hurt their sales either... I mean damnit you can';t have your cake and eat it too, admit that RWD sells and sells very well at a high rate of profit. Let's do some quiick word associaion in this thread: FWD = compromise FWD = off kilter FWD = cheapness FWD = excuses FWD = understeer FWD = false sense of secutiry FWD = lame but on the other hand: RWD = expensive RWD = quality RWD = balance RWD = presteige RWD = durrability RWD = exciting RWD = no holds barred RWD = correct

Olds Rocket Neon from a dealership
Gotta love ebay... there's some cool GM-themed neon lighting products on there, I bought the Firebird logo one.

Camaro Concept trivia
Not really a contradiction... it's a header panel either way. Weather the seam is there or not on the concept the car has a hood that stops short of the leading edge of the grille. It's the fact that it harkens back to 1967 that I like.

GM sent me a cool letter
I submited my idea directly through the Chevrolet Website... every time in the past wehn I have tried to submit an idea it goes under the Ideas & New Devices section. I guess I'll go on CZ28.com and see if I can find that special address.

Neat Delmont you had there Camino... do you know where the car is now? That's pretty much the thing... this is a car that makes the almighty '64 Impala look plain & economical by comparison, but on top of that & the very cool 394 motor it's a true once-in-a-lifetime deal. 24,000 miles is low milage for a 4 year old car, never mind a 42 year old one! Make no mistake, this car will not see a wet/icey/snow covered road EVER. Perhaps after the summer is over and I've had my fun with it I'll trade it straight up for that 1959 Electra Flat top at Goldenrod Garage in Maine. Then durring next winter since I'll almost surely have a decent garage, I can get the Buick road worthy for ultimate whip for 2007. After that I'll ease on up on the spending & wait for the 2009 Camaro.

Camino's old rides scan #1
Wow... very cool. Looks like a car from some Hollywood movie involving a body getting stuffed into a trunk and dumped in the woods. Actaully it would make for a perfect under cover car in an episode of Starsky & Hutch.

The elCamino is a no-brainer. slap a Chevy bowtie on a Holden UTE and you're done. If Chevy does not bring out an elCamino soon they will get a much deserved slew of hate mail from Camino fans.- Most memorable
Voted 68-72 but they're all nice. I hope to own a 2003 ex-cab 5.3 as soon as we buy a house. I realized the used WRX or Cobalt ideas were not representative of my needs and true wants.- Death of the V8?
I'd take a 20,000 mile 1998 Crown Vic over a brand new Ford 500 and never look back. The 500 is a decent car if you're trying to go "just a tad less boring than a Camry" in yor purchase, it's a much better car than the Taurus it replaced mostly due ot the fact that it's got a GM trans. In any case the 500 will never be able to fill the C.V.s shoes in terms of fleet /cop/taxi/full size duty. Long live BOF cars, even if Ford is the only one making them!- I have not been sleeping well as of late...
If I could drive to down town Lowell right now and have some illegal immigrant Chinese doctor scoop out my Kidney with a rusty scalpel for $3000 this car would be in my driveway about 2 hours later.- GM sent me a cool letter
Well the crazy thing is that it's the guys actual signature... not a printed "signature" but like I can see where his blue ball point pen indented the paper. That can not be the case for every email GM gets. They would spend like $40,000 on some guy just to sign these letters. Did I hit a nerve? Was it something Gm actually wants to do some sort of science experiment, as in if 15% of these letters come back then the Camaro is prioduction worthy? - Pontiac: Nothing but rwd cars?
