  1. I'm not sure that the thread needs to be locked but I will agree that there's some SERIOUSLY skewed subjectivity clouding people's perception. So just because the Challenger has not had UNINTERUPTED production run it can not revive it's old styling when it returns in all it's glory? THat's just silly IMO. I love BMWs, esp. the 60s/70s/80s/90s models that share 80% of their styling but the Challenger analogy is absolutely correct. I still love BMWs but if they were not made between 1972 and 2001 the 2002 would be called overtly retro and therefore lame. If you can't admit that then you're either blind or just irrational. If anything your "evolution" theory says retro is a great thing, why not make a 2009 Challenger to look upscale & sporty like the 1970s so that it's as if it just evolved if it had stayed in production for the past three decades. Beyond that let's leave Darwin out of this.
  2. Scrapple
  3. That Trans Am is hotter than a carburetor fire!!! If they make a "CONVERSION KIT" for the Camaro like that my Camaro will not wear a Chevy badge after I get bored of burnouts & the 1/4 mile.
  4. I'm going to confess that the fact that I stumped so many of you is a little satisfying. I think a lot of you will be saying D'oh! when you hear the answer. Here's another hint: It came in "puke green" as so many people call it. I'd call it more "pea soup green".
  5. I feel esp. bad since your sig clearly says GMC, not Chevy. WMJ & SP: I have not forgoten about you sigs. they'll be done soon!
  6. Wow....I feel like such a retard. I sold one of those S10 crew cab ZR5 in yellow back at Chevy of Lowell & for some reason forgot that the ZRX even existed. It's a nice truck, please take no offense, it was just a stupid oversight. I'll fix it in a min.
  7. Sorry to hear that... so long as you;re okay this is a perfect opportunity to get a 4dr which will be a lot more conducive to the coming baby.
  8. Well... at least it's not $6500 for a Toyota Crown. ----- Off the same website from previous post.
  9. Wow... I'd love to get a close encounter with that Beaver. ShaddowDog: exactly.
  10. Yes! I'd much rather see the Ecotech and every V6 GM makes in the freekin dumpster than see even a slight drop in V8 production. Screw that. I say GM could even go to ONE I4.... of like 3 disp. and then completely phase out all the V6s. Just make two more engine families of V8s. A small-disp. V8 & a SUPER small V8 family all with DOD. LIke say a 2.5 liter V8 and a 3.5-4.0 liter V8. Small in size, great MPG with all the smoothness and desirability of the ultimate non-exotic powerplant. Long live the USA and by extension the V8.
  11. Since we're getting into subjectivity I think the Cayman looks horrible. It looks like a 2nd gen. Toyota MR-Spyder with a fitted Hard top shell roof. I'm not a fan of modern Porsches, as a matter of fact I think the 993 was the last true Porsche ever made. The lack of air cooled motors & amoeba headlights of the 1998-2005 911s left me very unimpressed. The new 911 has won me over wiht it's sleek looks but the Boxter & Cayman look cheap & lame. These are good looking porsches IMO.
  12. These modern "redesigns" are just lame. They tacked on the Crossfires headligths, which in 2006 are pretty played out and old and somehow it's a reskin. Lame. The Pacifica is kind of like the Intrepid of Crossovers, it looks nice enough but in a market segment where the SRX & FX35/45 are only a few thousand dollars away it's lame. The SRX and FX own this segment IMO.
  13. That's signature matterial right there!
  14. Sorry if I seem pissy but this is a sore topic with me just like FWD. I think Evok's ideas are a little too reflective of the doomsday thinking of the mid 1970s. I'm sure there was many an intelect predicted the death of the V8 or even V6 for that matter. I don't care how much you dress up and "high feature" a V6 it will NEVER have te appleal of a V8. I'd take almost any basic, dinosaur of a V8 over most super-modern, powerfull efficient 4/6 cylinders. Would I take a 40s era flathead over Infiniti's VQ six? Probably not in a car made in 2006 but you get the point. The Corvette, Camaro and future Zetas mean that the small bock V8 is more alive than ever. A four cylinder still reeks of "CHEAP" even with DOHC, VVTi, turbochargers, supercharging, headers & a 10,000 RPM redline. You can't polish a turd. BOLD PREDICTION: V8 will NEVER decline in numbers significantly from their respective market shares from todays #s, so long as Internal Combustion does not go away.... what WILL happen is that displacement #s will go down drastically. A "BIG BLOCK V8" may be a 3.5 liters in two decades. Beyond that it's HYDROGEN all the way. Hybrids will be to the 2000s what the turbine was to the 1960s. [/not_so_humble_oppinion]
  15. Fu$k that. I think the V8 is just now reaching it's golden age. DOD means the V8 will become more prominent in years to come. Between the cheap feel & N.V.H. of 4s and V6s I do not aspire ot own too many. 99.9% of my dream cars are either V8, I6, I8 or in some cases two I6s or I8s joined at the crank. What you describe is pretty much my worst nightmare. I say GM needs a modern 215.... or perhaps even smaller family of V8s. Mazda had the right idea with the MX3 GSV6, except they need to make baby V8s instead of baby V6s.
  16. Enjoy you lucky ba$tard, should be a lot of fun. By the time you come back XP might be sporting another classic Cadillac and I might be buying a stepping stone to my 59 classic car after I have finally sold the Camaro.
  17. Seems easy enough to me: Corvette: simple, durable, proven, elegant & torquey. easy to maintain, easy to repair & a bargain. Cayman: expen$ive to maintain, expen$ive to own & a hassle to repair. Overenginered but still needlesly complex and in the end, the Corvette still kicks it's butt. I love Porsches, esp. rear/mid engined ones but the reality of 2006 is that inteligent car enthusiasts buy Corvettes, becasue everything else is just a poor value and does not measure up $-per-$. The only exception to this rule would be possibly the Lotus Elise. But even then my money would be on the Corvette. I mean seriously bro, if three digit $ Ferraris can not keep up with the Corvette around the Nurburing then how can the Cayman even attempt to measure up?
  18. Booooinniinininngggg!
  19. yes.. yes yes. we all hear the stories of 1961 Chevy wagons with stovebolt sixes and powerglides leaving the factory with SS trim & emblems, but that was pretty rare & quickly corrected as the mid sixties came into being.
  20. Nope. I thought this was going to be a wicked quick one... turns out it's a little bit of a challenge. The fuel tank capacity is about ten and a half gallons give or take and the car has a styling elemsnt that can be found on may classic cars from the 1950s.
  21. Not at all... it can be anything from a Radio Flyer wagon in Hawaii to a International Cab-over in Prince Edward Island. All C&G members are welcome. Even FWD cars. ----- DetroitNut: Here's your sig., let me know if any changes are required.
  22. So next up is American Revolution... Hope you like it. AS always if you think it sucks just let me know what changes you'd like.
  23. First up is XP.... here's his new custom sig.
  24. Taylor seems like a really cool dude, I'm happy for him. He's the kind of person I'd love to have at one of my partys. He's got more personality than most lead singers who have already made it.
  25. Not the Sprint, although that is an excellent guess. This car is not as daring & weird as the Sprint. Here's a guess: it was featured in an advertisement with a 1960s VW Microbus van.
