  1. So very very true.... this is the kind of FWD car that don't complain about... I mean this thing kicks ass! Croc: That Passat interior is much uglier than the Pontiac's I actually like early 90s Pontiac interiors. My first car was a '94 Sunbird and I'm sure that has a lot to do wiht it. BTW let's compare the 1990 Passat & GP EXTERIOR designs... One of the coolest looking POntiacs of the 90s... And one of the most butt-ugly European cars EVER! ** Here's a hot tip VW: your cars are not air cooled anymore, might want to salp a grill on that bad boy. **  Though I will say one thing... I absolutely HATE cheap looking and feeling rubber shifters... anything post post 1972 but pre-1997 for a rubebr shifter is just grotesque 99% of the time. Every time I buy a Manual trans car form the 80s... I immediately put on a skull head, 8-ball, white-cue-ball style or simply a chrome ball style shifter. I hate the T-style auto shift knobs on the automatic cars form that era as well. HAte them. U-G-L-Y. The very first thing I did when I got the Datsun, Firebird, Escort enduo car adn a few others was IMMEDIATELY change to rubber shifter. The only vehicle fomr that era that had a livabl;e shifter was my '91 Blazer (5-speed). I hate those bent-oval ameba shaped shifters. They don;t feel right and they look like ass. :puke:
  2. Wow, the 3.4 DOHC wiht a manual... this is a future collector car. Love the color too... typical 1990-1994 era GM paint. This is a really neat Pontiac, hope it gets pampered and saved and not bought by soe punk who wraps it around a tree.
  3. B.V. are you serious buddy... we're talking about 1961 Coupe DeVilles and 1959 Electra 225s and you bring up the Civic? There's about three more million of those things. The automotive equivelant of a disposable camera. Come up here to Mass I'll show you two dozen for sale localy jus like it. I bet we can find one with those exact same rims within 15 miles of my house and if you're lucky if will also be green wiht a terrible gap between the bumper cover and fender. Anyway... I'd trade my '68 Camaro, '86 Brougham AND the '79 Deville for that '59 Electra... I just love that car. It's calling out ot me. The patina on the hood and the big amber driving lights, the epitome of cool. I'd drive it just as is, a survivor. I'd wait another decade for a paint job. I love old classics wiht character. That car earned that faded paint. Like my buddy Ross said, can you imagine some 83 year old guy driving that to that dealership and saying to the salesman "I guess it's time for another one... had this here car since Dec. of 1958."
  4. Hugh Jass!
  5. The idiots driving the Prius will be very forgiving about this I'm sure, they love to dry hump their Toyotas. Back when they we're driving a 1978 Malibu they had a radio knob break adn just flipped out and decided enough was enough, no more GM cars for them... now they're so biased after reading Consumer reports their Prius could develop an exploding dashboard and they'd still gove toyota the benefit of the doubt.
  6. Indeed I have lived. OI experienced many of those (or similar fun activities) in Slovakia as a kid in the 1980s. I came here to the USA in '87 at 8 years old so I got to see two very differnt but inherantly similar cultures. Catching Fireflys... that's a great one. Front seat of the old 1981 Wartburg (2 cylinder, 2 stroke 4-speed manual) was a privelage my grandfather alloed me only if we were traveling a short distance... otherwise me and my cousins would fight over who got the window seats. No one wanted to be stuck in the middle.
  7. 215 powered Isetta? Awsome!!! :) You're not thinking of the right manufacturer or country but you're damn close. This car is made fun of just like the Isetta but it has none of the Isetta's charming redemig qualities. The car came out as a sedan but they made a convertible for a while too... more hints later.
  8. Yes, yes and YES.
  9. AAAANNNND it went with the "L" theme for cars.
  10. Let's not get into a direct political discussion. *oops too late* Our current WhiteHouse hood ornament is quite the retard but he's NOT the enitre Rep. party.... Personally we need change and a good/better/competant president. Not a fuckoff like Clinton but not another blind Dubbya either. Persoanlly I just hope to god, pray and pray that Hillary does not end up in the white house. That carpet bagging Hag is pure evil.
  11. I have a bridge to sell you in NYC... http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif  First of all nobody gets 64mpg in a Insight. You should knoiw beter than to assume such bullshit. The real world fule economy of the insight, Civic Hybrid & Prius are all overrated. BUt even if it did, I'd rather have a 3.4 liter Impala for the same about of money... enjoy the "luxury" of a back seat (and a big one) ride in a safer vehicle wiht far greater comfort and a huge trunk, no need to replace a timing belt, and spend $4500 more on gas... (the Impala gets 30 highway) Big deal so I spent $4500 extra, it's worth it. Over the course of like 8.3 years (average miles being 12K a year) that actaully only comes out ot be less than $600 a year. Wait, I forgot to mention *this is the clincher* you're going to have to spend the $4500 in savings on your replacement battery pack in your now used up Hybrid, if you haev not already. Now who's the fool.
  12. I've never complained. You don't bother me, as a matter of fact I hold much of the same beliefs, though you make a more informed and inteligent argument. I too am really bothered by this Americanization of Toyota and Honda... it's like "Look at us Darryl Waltrip races a Tacoma, we're as American as Apple Pie and baseball..." I'm sitting there like "F*** you, perhaps we should have condescending ads on Japanee TV for Buick & Cadillac about how 'Suzuki Toyota Hiroshima' is driftig with a CTS-V now so that makes us a JAPANESE company..." The Japanese are in a Pacifistic culture right now, all about peace and yet they wage an economic war or huge proportions and are kicking our asses every day. The sad part is that 65% of our own countrymen are on the wrong side. This is why, as much as I like some Japanese cars (Nissan/Infiniti, Mazda, Subaru) I'll never buy one new. There's plenty of yuppies in the burbs that will take the hit on resale and buy one new only to trade it in a year later. Heck wiht the crazy residuals and 12/24 month leases it seems perfectly logical to them... Yet another unfair advantage. <_<
  13. Top Bannana & Go-Mango were always my favorite two... Love ogange and yellows.
  14. Ummm... like 40% of those PMs I mentioned are form you B.V. ---- For the 1,000,000,000,001th time: I don't hate all FWD cars, I do however hate GM showing FWD down our throats. Caddy is finally cured of that disease but Chevy, Buick & Pontiac have a long way to go to say the least. Today Solstice and Sky... tomorrow Camaro & a new GTO, after that it's time for a Kappa sedan, Roadmaster/Electra, Caprice Classic & dare I say Bonneville.
  15. Trivia for Oct. 15th 2005 This car, sold in the USA among other markets had a 68 cubic inch engine. The compression ratio was 9.2:1 and the cylinder bore was 3.150. MOre hints to come unles someone gets lucky. http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif
  16. Like I've already said... the Intrigue and Aurora made for awsome LExus/Acura alternatives but look where olds is now. :(
  17. I'm not holiding my breath for January but I'm really, really REALLY hoping. I do have faith.
  18. Per capita it was determined statistically AFTER he Corvair was axed in 1969 that no more and no less people died in Corvair (again, per capita) than any other 1960s car. It WAS NOT unsafe. Not any more than the typical 1960-something car wiht drum brakes, bias ply tires and no crumple zones. If it was not for the fact that a few Corvairs probably got spun out by morons without a clear concept of rear engine vehicle dynamics & weight distribution they probabl;y woud have been over all safer than the typical 1960s compact. At least they had the hint of a crush zone where the engine WASN'T.
  19. Holy cow Empowah.... that's a eye opener right there... no B.S. apples to apples comparison.
  20. Oh my freekin God. I think I just shat myself.  This is without a doubt the coolest concept car of the 21st Century. It fu&$ing takes the cake, french kisses the trophy girl while grabbing her ass and flippes the bird at the competition. I WANT ONE!!! Like I said... Coolest concept of the 21st century. So far anyway.
  21. As much as I hate most Hondas I'd rather have a Insight then a Prius. No quesion in my mind there.
  22. And they build it in a f*&%ing swamp. Yes, yes & yes... good points. I LIKE the concept of the freedom tower. We'll have to wait for the execution.
  23. "other" IN this heavily regulated state (Massachusetts) Geico and a few others, is not available. <_<
  24. The front end on this thing was, is and always will be disgusting. :puke:
  25. Happy B-day buddy!.... that's EXACTLY my Caddy right there... year, color, wheels condition (pretty much almost as mint) Xcept i got the creepy red backlight grille. Christine would go ruining off wiht her tail between her legs. " " :P
