  1. I'll agree wiht the FWD annalogy. :D But here in Mass there's a junkyard that has a $5.00 a tire special every last saturday oif the month. SO when I did this it was like burning ONE ten dollar bill. My car doeesn't break crap when I abuse it. A $5000, 377 horse crate GM "ZZZ350"motor bolted to a TH350 auto trans and a ten bolt rear end can take a couple minutes of this kind of abuse at 7000rpm just fine. BV: get a burnout photo of your Grand Am into Car Craft if you want to impress me.
  2. I liked Oasis, they were a decent band and had a few hits but comparing them to the Beatles is like saying a 1995 KIA Sephia is comporable to a 1962 Cadillac Coupe Deville. Laughable. And I stopped paying attention to those two stuck up assholes when I saw an interview with them in the late 90s. The asked them what past or present Bands from the UK they admire or were inspired by or even just listen to. They said all past and present bands and artists from the UK suck. Even the Beatles. They said this in complet serious voices... not with a dry snse of humor or anything like that. They wer actaully serious. According to them -- GET THIS -- they (themselves: Oasis) ere the only worthwile music to come out of the UK. Later on that week my dad was listening to wonderwall on WBCN and said it was a good song, when I mentioned that quote from the interview he gave e a deer in headlights look and then just laughed. They're a couple morons with swolen egos. Also the whole "pissing contest signature" thing is pretty lame. A $40,000 retractible hardtop 2 seater traditional coupe on a truck chassis with a p/u truck bed and '49 Pickup styling has NOTHING to do with my old sig about Hardtop cars with pillarless windows fixed roofs. A true enthusiast wolud understand that.
  3. Here's a queastioon no one has asked... if this guy was driving at a high rate of speed why did the pedestrian get in his way? Why? probably one of these guys thinking "Screw this car, they'll just have to slow down." I see a lot of those here in Mass. It does not excuse the supposedly senile driver but if people only crossed when it was safe to cross we'd have a lot less of these incidences. When I find myself as a pedestrian I err on the side of caution. I'd never let myself be run down becaus I don't run into traffic expecting peol top slow down.
  4. Actually after the late 90s SLP no longer converted SS/WS6 cars... you could still order aftermaket accessories though the factory but it was no longer a "conversion".
  5. Oh I'll take em..... I love those cars. :)
  6. I think I'll trade my '68 Camaro for an IS300. All that horsepower, instant throtle response and lack of a radio or even radio harness is getting to me. Besides the dash is spartan and the aluminum racing seat is quite uncomfortable for long drives over rough pavement. Also the loud flowmasters and hardtop bodystyle have grown tiresome. Oh wait, these are all the reasons why I love my Camaro and will neevr get rid of it unless it;s to get ANOTHER classic GM car. Every time I sit inside it and smell that 60s GM interior scent it reminds me how much I love it.
  7. more to come later. :)
  8. 1959 Cadillac Coupe Deville in yellow. 1959 is such a cool year for cars. 1959 Cadillac Deville flat top (vista roof) 1959 Cadillac nuf said. I love 4dr hardtops from this era. 1961 Cadillac ragtop 1961 Cadillac Coupe Deville 1961 Cadillac Sedan Deville 1961 Cadillac Hearse 1962 Cadillac Deville ragtop
  9. Cadillac: one of the coolest brands in all of automotive history... certainly my favorite luxury brand hands down. Sure I love BMW and have the utmost respect for Deusenbergs, Bugattis, Packards, Auburns and Pierce Arrows... I even like certain M.B.s and Lincolns but in the end Cadillac is my favorite by a far. So I thought I'd share some of my favorites through the years: 1928 Cadillac Imperial Cabriolet 1930 Cadillac V16 (Al Capone's personal armored ride) 1930 boat tail V16 1931 one of one tripple red V16 1931 V16 roadster 1932 Cadillac Dual Cowl Phaeton V16 1936 Cadillac Imperial limo V16 1948 Caddy Ragtop 1949 Cadillac fast back 1953 Cadillac in Cuba 1953 1953 Eldorado ragtop 1954 1957 Sedan Deville 1958
  10. Ummm... I've got a cobalt blue Nokia POS trac-phone. *crickets chirping*
  11. Awsome! You rock. :D KF: Well, at first I was going to kleep the Brougham but just drive the Datsun for work... since I do so many miles and gas prices suck. Then Ross "gave" me the '79 Coupe Deville and in order to pay him I had to sell one of my vehicles... so I figured WTH, I've had my fun with the Brougham so now I'll replace it with a 2dr Deville.... screw the old 307 olds motor, the Deville has the 425. :metal: In the mean time Ross found storage for the Deville so I said to jus grab the car when he gets the details worked out... he felt bad abotu taking the car back but I was like... uh, I havent' even paid you for it yet, why would you feel bad? Besides he loves that car, I know he'll take great care of her. So now I'm down to 4 cars.... my demolition Derby Volvo, the '97 STS, '68 Camaro & my daily driver Datsun. If all goes well financially we'll be buying a house in the next 6 months so Marcia is very OPPOSED to buying another car but I might be able to talk her into the '66 Corvair I wanted... talked the guy down to $850.00
  12. What inconsiderate guys wiht 3rd gen. F-bodys have to do wiht thiis thread I'm not sure. Ever heard of getting a license plate number and calling the cops??? I do my burnouts in industrial parking lots or behind the mill building... usualy in the afternoon not even at night. The only time I've ever been doing them past midnight was at the Worcester Burnout contest... 100% legal, police presance and the whole city is aware of them. So don't try to group me wiht this asshole. Now as far as the RAv4 and CRV, I guess I was wrong about the wheelbase... do those figures take into account wheels offset? Either way take a Rav4 or CRV for a spin... they handle worse than my old Blazer IMHO.
  13. commercial link. Not working for me.... I hate the styling of this gross minivan but let's face it Honda has always had very clever and effective advertising. I poke fun at it and all but just like VW ads it get's sales. GM should hire Mullen.
  14. F$%#ing damn straight! :P
  15. Croc needs to watch the "Buddy Holly story" with Greg Busey. As far as the Beatles they did more with Rock n Roll from just 1959-1969 than all the Rock bands fo the 70s, 80s & 90s combined. Artists are still borrowing ideas from the Beatles today. They did a lot of original things with their music but even they credit the Blues greats and other lesser known artists for thier humble beginings. Besides that Buddy Holly beat Elvis to the punch. Had it not been for Holly dying Elvis would be just a blip on the radar.
  16. BV: Whatever, knock yourself out. You asked what we thought of it and I told you. Don't kill the messanger just because I don't like the idea. I might even install custom tail lights on a vehicle of mine if tyhe cost and efrort was minimal and they didn't look like ass. Croc: BV was asking for my opinion, I gave it. Read the title of the thread.
  17. wow that's lame.
  18. Fly: I was referring to a few years ago (like ealry 2000s) when I read several articles abotu how small cute-utes like the Escape/CRV/Rav4 are less safe than any other type of vehicle... they had crappy crash test scores and worse still their high center of gravity combined wiht a narrow wheelbase made them very prone to rollovers in emergency manouvers esp. with the typical demographic they were selling to: teenage inexperienced drivers and Soccer moms. If I'm going to roll over at least a Wrangler has a roll cage and it's wheelbase is not as narrow as a Corollas. I like certain car based SUVs (original X5 and SRX come to mind) but not the compact ones... why be cramped in a stupid little Civic based CRV or a Corolla based Rav4 when you can buy a decent midsize sedan for the same amount of money. Empowah: the XC90 is NOT a small "cute ute" based on the underpinnings of a compact car so it has no relevance to my argument. Plus, it's Vovlo... obviously it's going to be ahead of the curve in terms of safety. It's thier specialty & no. 1 selling point after all. And for the record I did not bring up or alude to BOF vs. Unibody. <_< As far as the Equinox, call me naive but I'm pretty sure Theta shares more than a few things with delta... but perhaps I'm wrong. It would be pretty unorthodox in todays day and age. Croc: drop dead You want to talk about meaningful insight? You consider the SSR a "sports car"... enough said.
  19. I have no problem with this whatsoever. In fact, I second the motion whole-heartedly. [post="31428"][/post] Me three, me three. Perhaps make Australia and UK exempt as well... either way Japan is the most important one. Was it like 98 when there was talk of this for the first time. I was actually on the fence about it until I relised it would simply level the playing field.
  20. 4 vehicles insurerd at about $3800 a year. (one in the G/Fs name the other 3 in mine) More than half that $3800 is from the STS.
  21. Elton John, Billy Joel and Blondie talentless? I'll agree it's exageration for effect but true. However IMO the Beatles werer, arer and will always be the most significant band ever... that being said redundancy in a radio station is annoying as all hell.
  22. Razor: The Skyline has alwasy been a very competetiive 2+2 in the style of old school Gran Turismo cars of Europe. Recently it's become a real supercar... as iof the 80s it got killer performance. The recent GTRs have come standard wiht turbo inline sixes, rear-biased awd adn killer technology. The Skyline GTR is, and always has been as close to a real Musclecar as the Japanese have ever made. It's not a '70 Chevelle LS6 but it's worthy of the Muscle car title. Think of it as a 21st century Buick GNX. ...and I like this new one a lot, it's already growing on me. :D
  23. Yes. no contest.
  24. Once again BV, you're jumping to the conclusion that I'm ignorant. I know the Altezza is a Toyota "IS200/300" and even had I not I would have figured it out when I bought a few of them in Gran Turismo 2. It's just like the whole piercing thing, how cool is it rebel by getting a piercing when 65% of the kids in your school are also pierced. Like i said back in the early '90s we thought it was cool on Mark II Jettas and 80s BMWs but now its kind of passe. BTW: a few years ago just after they came out I bought LED tail light bulbs for my '97 STS... they DO NOT work well in the application. They're useless wiht the reflector... they're not set up to reflect in any direction. I do not have the time or energy to explain the dynamics of it but needless to say the LEDs I bought for the STS are the same ones that ended up tucked undeer the rear bumper of the STS because they were useless in the Cadillac. I'm a bit LED obsessed myslef as you can see form the 70-bulb LED STS "chimsl" (3rd brake light) in my Camaro & Brougham. I just sold the Brougham and the brake light you see in the rear window of this photo is now in the Datsun.
  25. good, if that's what it takes....
