  1. My steering rack leaked too! Superior German engineering FTW!
  2. "Stand back it's a predator dron....*KABOOM*"
  3. Reminds me of a member of team-integra who converted an Integra to mid-engined RWD with a Prelude drivetrain in the back. He's an engineer or something and didn't cut any corners; it came out very well. See the thread here. .I don't think these kinds of major conversions are really worth it. Way too much time and energy involved when you can just buy a car like it already. ;-]
  4. It's not just for the fact that they're still selling those models (which accounted for something like 900 of the sales this month), but that you need to include them for a full year following the last sale in order to have accurate percentages to compare to.
  5. This is very deceptive. GM should report total sales, not just their four current brands. April 2009: 173,007 April 2010: 183,997 A 6.4% increase, which is not bad. Looks like GM is finally back on the upswing.
  6. The part about her eating junk food and making sure to sit stationary to not lose any calories will surely kill her. Likely to develop a blood clog that will stop her heart. $10 says she dies soon if she continues on her goal using the same practices she does right now. Going for 1,000 lbs is a pretty epic goal, but should be achieved in a different way. A good diet and exercise program could get you there far more safely. The key would be to have a lot of muscle making up that weight, since it is more dense and you can concentrate it on your arms and legs, without putting the strain on your heart.
  7. On the Lexus ES350, the car's normal neutral position on the shifter will not shift the vehicle into neutral at speed. There is a "gate" or position that will, but it is not marked and not intuitive. Chances are this is similar on the Prius. The driver in this incident and the ES350 incident both likely attempted to put their vehicles into neutral unsuccessfully. The driver of the Prius was likely applying brakes the entire time, which is why he didn't accelerate above 90mph. It wasn't until the officer instructed him to apply the brakes and emergency brake together that he was able to decelerate the car to 50mph. It was probably at this time that it was explained to the driver that the stop-start button must be held down for several seconds to shut down the vehicle (if it is like the ES350 that is -just pushing it will not shut the car off when the car is at speed). Some reports say that the driver was too scared to attempt turning the vehicle off due to a potential loss of steering.
  8. Another large jump in fleet sales, as well as 0% APR or $1k cash (for the Fusion at least). Ford is being very aggressive to gain market share.
  9. Making the rounds on the Internetz. A blogger snapped some CR-Z shots and has them posted here. Shows the CR-Z in its natural setting in what will probably be one of the more common colors.
  10. That's enough money to pay two Honda executives. For a consultant. Fritz: "Ok guys, I'm only going to show you this once so please pay attention. You move the mouse down to Start, THEN click Shut Down. I know, I know. It's confusing. Well I used up my 20 minutes for the day, where's my pay? I'll be by tomorrow to teach everyone about Wordpad."
  11. I'll be sure to post my results as far as the unlock and overclock goes. I was originally going to get either the 750GB or 1TB WD Black edition drives. I had them in my cart, and was researching to see which would be better. They both use 3 platters and there are some complaints that they are a little noisy. The 32MB cache would give them a boost over the Seagate I'm sure, though the single 500GB platter should help the Seagate keep up. I am ok with a little less performance along with less noise, heat and energy usage. I bet the performance difference will be minimal. This is the first time I'll be building an AM3 system, so I'm sure there are some nuances I'll have to figure out. The memory can run at 1333 if needed.
  12. I just bought some new computer parts. It had been 1.5 years since my last substantial upgrade, which is too long. I only spent $390~ total and got a new CPU, MB, RAM, HDD, and case. Excellent deal I think. Cooler Master Elite Case Seagate Barracude 7200.12 500GB Hard Drive ASRock M3A785GXH/128M Motherboard A-DATA 2 x 2GB DDR3 Memory Kit AMD Phenom II X2 555 Processor The 7200.12 drive is a 500GB-per-platter drive, so it owns. I'm going to install Windows 7 Pro 64-bit on it, since I got hooked up through my college (free Microsoft software, yay). Based on several reviews I've read, the Phenom II X2 555 has a very good chance at being unlockable, since it is essentially a Phenom II X4 955 with two cores disabled. I checked the motherboard too and people have had success unlocking with it. You simply can't beat a Phenom II X4 955 BE for $104. Overclock to 4ghz should be doable. Eat it Intel.
  13. Good summary article. Though a couple caveats: Honda had already launched Acura 3 years earlier with huge success. Toyota wasn't going against any odds, they were simply following the lucrative market Honda opened up in 1986. FYI, Honda sold 53k Acuras its first year, 109k its second year, and 128k its third year (all Integras and Legends). For Toyota not to jump in would have been dumb. Toyota's Prius didn't become even remotely popular, nor did it turn Toyota into a synonym for green until the 2nd gen Prius in 2004. And aside from that, Honda beat Toyota to the US market with a hybrid, though neither the 1st gen Insight nor 1st gen Prius went anywhere. Toyota did bring the first hybrid out in Japan.

    If only...

The reason it looks good is because it's using the body of a Euro Accord wagon. It is not a photoshop. It is very common for Honda to test mules with cut-up bodies of previous vehicles. You can find spyshots of mules for most vehicles, including the canceled NSX/GT car (first spied as a cut-up S2000), current MDX (first spied with a Pilot body and covered front end), current Pilot (first spied with last gen Pilot body and current gen nose grafted on), etc etc etc. Luckily, the TSX Wagon has been confirmed for the US market and should be showing up in 2011 (or 2010 as a 2011 MY, not sure).
  15. There's no point in looking at just the core brands sales percentage, since it's going to be skewed by people moving from non-core brands. You gotta take the good with the bad. Overall sales up 14% is still really good for GM, though it was made up by a lot of fleet sales (nearly a third). You know, if any other automaker took a previously RWD vehicle and made it into a FWD mommy-mobile, even if it improved sales, they'd never hear the end of it!
  16. Honda has stated they will not take advantage of Toyota's position by offering incentives for Toyota drivers. So far, Honda and Nissan are the only two of the major players that aren't doing so. I suppose since they're Japanese that may be why.
  17. It's been all over the news here too. I wonder how long it will last and what Toyota will have to do with current new inventory sitting on the lots. Total recall? It just keeps getting worse and worse for Toyota. But look at it this way, at least they're finally getting serious about it; no more quick-fix tie-wraps (better late than never, right?). They should have done this from the start. I imagine there will be some firings at Toyota when this is all over.

    tiger woods

    I know Tiger's last year's news..... but I just can't help it.
  19. What's with you and badge snobbery? Perhaps what Honda is means something quite different to you than it does to me, and that's justifiable given their current lineup. Your exposure to Honda is probably limited to ricers and family cars. For me, this SEMA car's styling is reminiscent of Honda. On that note, just because someone cares about the badge that's on a car doesn't prequalify them as a snob. I think you read my post too hastily. I said "aside from the greenhouse".
  20. I admit it is pretty nice looking. I'm not sure what changed between this and the last concept that was released, but this looks much better. Aside from the greenhouse it has strong Honda styling cues. S2000 in the front and NSX-GT concept in the back. Though I would never buy anything with that ugly "T" on the back. It seriously ruins the entire rear end (yes, the badge alone -it screams econo-family-car; a red H badge would be far more fitting).
