Nissan revealed the refreshed 2013 Leaf today, saying the model will have improved charging times and better efficiency than the 2012 model.

The 2013 Leaf has been fitted with a a new 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger that will cut the charging time from seven to four hours when plugged into a 220-volt charger. Nissan has improved the efficiency of the Leaf by improving the aerodynamic qualities, wider range of regenerative braking, a new "B" drive mode that increases regenerative braking during deceleration, and a more efficient heating system. Nissan says these changes will improve the Leaf's range but don't say how much.

The Leaf will also have a new S model which will become the base model. The Leaf S will lose out on such features as alloy wheels, a 7-inch dashboard display, cruise control, a navigation system and two of the six speakers. SL models gain leather seats and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Nissan also announced they are ramping up production of the Leaf at their Smyrna, Tennessee.

Still just a luxury Golf Cart for Inner City use. This does not make it a road trip car nor does any of the so called improvements justify the waste of millions on the so called EV Highway.

Steel wheels and no cruise control are ridiculous for the base model.

As an inner city Luxury Golf Cart, why would you need those items, it is not like people actually will be cruzing and need to put on the cruze control so they can play with their stupid Ipad.

Nissan is clearly looking to reduce costs to increase sales. I doubt it will help much.

If they want to increase sales, I suggest they style it in such a way that it doesnt look like a squeezed out turd.

    • Some 2024 anniversaries for Los Angeles CA - how time flies 40 years since the 1984 Summer Olympics - cities seem to have growth spurts - not all good, with spikes in home and apartment prices - and the same seemed to have happened in Atlanta after it hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics 30 years since the 1994 Northridge (MLK Day) earthquake - I believe it did a lot more damage than the Sylmar Feb. 9 1971 earthquake since Sylmar is at the very edge of the built-up part of the metro area while Northridge is more in the thick of things in the San Fernando Valley.  In both quakes, high overpasses connecting freeways I-5 to CA-14 came down.  In the 1994 quake, a critical raised portion of the fairly distant Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) came down,
