As the Diesel Emits: Audi's Head of R&D To Be Suspended

  • When it rain, it pours. Audi's R&D head will be suspended.

In the neverending saga that is the Volkswagen diesel emission scandal, Audi's head of R&D will be suspended this week due to knowing about the cheat used in the 3.0L TDI V6.

German newspaper Bild am Sonntag (via Reuters) learned from sources that Stefan Knirsch knew about the software and lied under oath about it during an internal investigation. Bild says Knirsch has been asked to clear his desk. Not surprisingly, Volkswagen, Audi and Audi's works council declined to comment.

Sad, I would say that there is about a thirty percent chance that VW will eventually take the Volkswagen brand out of the US market and either only sell Audi and Porsche or brink in Skoda or seat to replace VW. We are not anywhere near the end of this.

...and as much as I love my TDI, will be very glad when they keys are back in Volkswagen's hands.

And so the plot thickens. Oh man, the suspense, it's building.

I wonder if Hollywood will make another film adaptation of gross negligence such as this to follow in the foot steps of their BP oil spill movie.....HMMMMMM
