A "couple dozen" Chevrolet Volt Owners Take Up GM's Buyback Offer

Last week, GM's CEO Dan Akerson said in a interview with the Associated Press that the company would be willing to buy back Volts from concerned owners.

Well some owners are taking GM up on that offer. Today, GM told The Detroit News that a "couple dozen" Volt owners have asked the company to buy back their Volts.

"For those few who have requested repurchase, we're going to move fast" if their concerns can't be met any other way, said Greg Martin, GM spokesman.

GM is currently working with Volt owners individually to understand their concerns and offering loaner vehicles to those owners during the NHTSA investigation.

I am very disappointed that this Volt stuff is getting so out of hand. No one should be worried about their vehicle catching fire unless the fuel system (battery) is compromised in an accident which is pretty much an issue with any modern gasoline vehicle. Also the damage so far that has caused the battery to be damaged would in most cases total the vehicle anyway. Yes, this is an issue that GM should address. However is isn't a reason to abandon the vehicle. Once the flaw is fixed all flawed vehicles should be fitted with the redesigned battery.

    • Idiot47 talked about the Golden Days of the 50's and 60's and how he would MAGA America back to the golden days. Clearly that will never happen and with inflation up, will continue, but with job loss and manufacturing shutdowns, clearly his time in office will be one of inflation, high prices and hurt for all Americans except the 1%.
    • Were you expecting 50's/60's pricing to come back or something? I don't understand your comment. Also, I do believe it was said that it will get worse before getting better.
    • So much for Idiot47 bringing down prices and making things great again. No going back to the 1950's / 1960's for prices Idiot47. Here are the five key takeaways from Friday's consumer price index report
    • Stephen Colbert: Are you afraid of artificial intelligence taking over? Ricky Gervais: I’d love for any intelligence to take over. Stephen Colbert: What’s the opposite of artificial intelligence? Rickey Gervais: Natural stupidity. Stephen Colbert: Did you hear about the new AI company run by goats? Rickey Gervais: They’re using bleating edge technology. Stephen Colbert: Scientists predict human-level artificial intelligence by 2030. Rickey Gervais: Maybe sooner if the bar keeps dropping per this current administration. Stephen Colbert: What do illegal aliens and AI have in common? Rickey Gervais: They’ll take your jobs away and do it better than you.
    • Agree, the whole market is way overvalued, sadly I see this not adjusting too much due to people who did not save and are 50 years old now are putting away their 20+% into 401Ks so the inflow of cash is huge. Be interesting to see how bad the market correction becomes as I do think the Idiot47 administration will cause a crash of some sort and I hope the rich loose it more than the hard-working American. New Jobs as repairs of Robots and AI bots that replace humans will be needed. Agree with you, 7yrs ago I retired all my gas-powered yard equipment and went with EGO electric powered yard gear from my mower, blower, hedge trimmer, weed Wacker, etc. and do not regret it one bit, never has let me down and I keep them charged and still keeps going. Love how quiet it is and no pollution. With the EV9, my only ICE left is the Escalade and that I hope to retire in the near future for an EV Pickup. Kia has been quiet on the EV9 pickup that they have mules running around LA. I suspect it will still come but delayed a few years. Since my autos are paid for, I can wait. Weird is I fuel up the 32gallon tank on the Escalade once a month now because I drive it only back n forth between the house and the train station to go into Seattle for my required work in the office once a week. Otherwise, it sits in the garage other than local driving, so down to once-a-year oil changes too.  Have you had her try driving an F150 Hybrid? My wife was the same way till I had her test drive with me my 1993 GMC Suburban and she was shocked how it drove like a car and not the impression of a truck then. Today's trucks drive so easy car like that I would be surprised if she found it hard to drive. The only thing I have run into is some folk's ability to sense their 4 corners in a larger auto tends to freak them out. You should do Devils Gulch trail here in Washington, great ride.   This is interesting, just as we discovered that diabetic shots can also be used for weight loss, one has to wonder what else our minds are capable of.
