A "couple dozen" Chevrolet Volt Owners Take Up GM's Buyback Offer

Last week, GM's CEO Dan Akerson said in a interview with the Associated Press that the company would be willing to buy back Volts from concerned owners.

Well some owners are taking GM up on that offer. Today, GM told The Detroit News that a "couple dozen" Volt owners have asked the company to buy back their Volts.

"For those few who have requested repurchase, we're going to move fast" if their concerns can't be met any other way, said Greg Martin, GM spokesman.

GM is currently working with Volt owners individually to understand their concerns and offering loaner vehicles to those owners during the NHTSA investigation.

I am very disappointed that this Volt stuff is getting so out of hand. No one should be worried about their vehicle catching fire unless the fuel system (battery) is compromised in an accident which is pretty much an issue with any modern gasoline vehicle. Also the damage so far that has caused the battery to be damaged would in most cases total the vehicle anyway. Yes, this is an issue that GM should address. However is isn't a reason to abandon the vehicle. Once the flaw is fixed all flawed vehicles should be fitted with the redesigned battery.

    • Welcome to the iCar as Jony Ives was the designer and lead during production. He could not get his iCar produced at Apple and so he got Ferrari to do it in an overpriced way. Ugly as heck, but hopefully the experience of actually driving it is better than the look. @surreal1272 @ccap41 Ferrari should have released the auto as a Concept to get feedback from the public as this iCar is a styling failure. They could have take the Jaguar XJ220 and put in an electric powertrain and been far more successful than this iCar release they did without all the negativity it has generated. Does Ferrari need to go electric? YES Is this the right auto for them? NO Is the software and driving dynamic worthy of a Ferrari? Unknown
    • ITA does not have a 747.  This is just a mock up if they did.  That's a good looking bird.  Alitalia had eight 747s and pulled them shortly after 9/11 because of the drop in air traffic and to cut costs. ITA uses the newer A350 and the updated A330-900neo for long haul flights. I have only flown on them domestically and was real excited to learn that they have added a seasonal Rome to Houston nonstop.  This is all because they have joined Star Alliance as a function of being picked up by Lufthansa.
    • When cars had personality ... ... 1978 Cadillac Couple de Ville A lady I knew - Velma - when I was a teenager had one of these with a Cerise Firemist Metallic exterior - sort of a light grapefruit color popular in those years. She knew I loved her car.
