October 2012: Mitsubishi Motors North America

CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) today reported October sales of the Outlander Sport were up 17.9 percent compared to the same month in 2011.

Outlander Sport sales were 1,675 for the month, the second highest monthly total ever for the fuel efficient CUV, manufactured in Normal, Illinois. The monthly total was only exceeded by that of September 2012. For the January to September year-to-date, Outlander Sport sales are up 7.4 percent.

"We are pleased at the consistent growth of the Outlander Sport, our top seller in the U.S," said MMNA President & CEO Yoichi Yokozawa. "This demonstrates that customers looking for a fuel-efficient CUV certainly have the Outlander Sport on their shopping list." For the current 2013 model year, Outlander Sport received numerous new improvements including enhanced exterior styling and interior design features.

Overall Mitsubishi sales were 3,981 units, down 9.1 percent compared to October 2011. That total however is impacted by models that ended their production in 2011. Total sales of models currently in production were up 7.0 percent for the month compared to October 2011.

Surprised with these double digit growth numbers as this company seemed to be on the ropes for dying and merging with someone. Yakuza must have decided they needed to keep their cash laundering business going.

    • In this case, I think I'm having a bad dream!  Just kidding. This was the fly inthe ointment in terms of 1976 GM colors and, while it was really cool that they had all the matching different colors for the trim pieces inside, think about how much of a head scratcher that was in terms of penciling out.
    • I miss this era.    Masterful model railroad.
    • I think I'm dreaming  Look at how beautiful this S/R coupe is as he spins it around the parking lot. Crank windows!  I think the black landau and black interior take away from the rich, dark burgundy exterior. The price is not stated.  Good luck getting parts. Regardless, we didn't know how good we had it.  This was bicentennial year stuff.
    • That Scout EV looks hot AF.    A dumb man can be crude by instinct   An intelligent man can build a system elegant enough to protect his vanity and call it realism
    • Yes, one can never sneeze at 49mpg or more when it saves one money. I am keeping my eye on the Scout as they have already announced that it will be a pure 800V EV / EREV Truck / SUV. The only unanswered question is will they support AA / CP? The EV Scout Truck / SUV will have a minimum of 300 miles of range on a charge and the EREV will have 500 plus. So many of my coworkers have already placed deposits for the EREV model. Yet with that said, my wife and I are past the point of camping on the ground, in a tent, etc. We love the outdoors, but would rather stay in a hotel or book a house for the family and enjoy the outdoors and come back to a hot shower, house to have dinner in, play games with the kids and enjoy a more relaxing setup. As such, my kids and I now plan yearly outings where we book a house and still enjoy hiking, fishing, etc. but on a more luxury level. SCOUT Options Scout Motors
