Despite the diesel scandal that has engulfed Volkswagen, the fuel is still going strong in Europe. But that could be changing with stricter emission standards coming and regulators starting to keep a keen eye on automakers. Volvo announced today at the Shanghai Auto Show that it would be building its first electric vehicle in China beginning in 2019. The model will use the CMA platform that is being jointly developed by Volvo and its parent company Geely. According to Volvo Cars CEO Hakan Samuelsson, it will be an all-new model but declined to say what type of vehicle it would be - crossover, sedan, or hatchback. Shufu's pestering seems to be working as he told Chinese media last week that Volvo will be building a flagship. Tentatively called the S100, the sedan will utilize Volvo's Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) architecture and be much longer and luxurious than the S80. The S100 will be built and sold in China. While all eyes are on the new 2015 Volvo XC90, Volvo is hard at work on their future models. Car & Driver caught a slide during the presentation which outlines what in store for the swedish brand. Volvo's future lineup will comprise of three different model lines; the 40, 60, and 90 series. Each group will feature a sedan, wagon, and an SUV/crossover. Next week, Volvo will debut their new XC40 crossover. They have already released a teaser video showing only small snippets of the models. However, one of Volvo's regional offices didn't get the memo to only post the teaser video. Volvo Hungary accidentally released a video showing the XC40 in full. The video has since been taken down, but various outlets have gotten screen caps of it. The production version almost mirrors the 40.1 concept with the same boxy shape.
