Another slow news day. Here's a tidbit on the HondaJet which just went on sale officially October 17th.

Sales of HondaJet Off to Impressive Start After 3-day NBAA Convention

Honda Aircraft Company today announced that it received well over 100 individual customer orders with deposits for the $3.65 million HondaJet. The company began sales of its advanced light jet on October 17 and has experienced demand in excess of expectations over three days of sales.

If Honda can sell a $3.65 million jet, I don't see why they're having so much trouble selling a $50,000 car. :duh:

 Talk about sending a crapload of money out of the U.S. economy.

You have to give Honda credit for pursuing this path. It may be a very profitable venture for them, considering the number of people out there that have enough money to buy a jet for each member of their family...

It's tough to say how much of the money ultimately ends up in the pockets of Japanese business men. Probably not as much as you think though, since everything is done inside the U.S., including the building of the Turbojet engines by GE Honda Aero Engines LLC (a partnership between Honda and GE), and the building and designing of the Jets by Honda Aircraft Company, which is also based in the U.S.

So even if some profits do go to Japan, all the labor is done in the U.S. and it really depends on where they source all of the materials used in the jets (composites, aluminum, etc), which will say where most of the money goes.

Just FYI, GE Honda Aero Engines LLC builds turbojet engines for not only Honda, but others as well, including Spectrum Aeronautical LLC.

On another note, I found a funny spelling error on this page. Instead of saying 'Affiliate', it says 'Affiriate' (you know how they have trouble pronouncing the 'L', lol :)).

Really surprising given the high quality of competing entires in price, range, and flat-out speed.

From what I've read, the Hondajet is the fastest and largest in its category, so it would naturally be the most expensive.

does it come with VTEC?

Are you kidding, it comes with i-VTEC and a DOHC sticker to boot!

I believe the Adam A700 is larger, but the HA-420 is up there.

For those uninitiated, here's the HondaJet in question.
