Need source for NOS Pontiac parts

Recommended Posts

A friend of a friend is restoring his very rare 400,4spd. special edition Trans Am. The car only has 21k original miles and they are doing a concours-level resto on it.

So, I am trying to help find a source for an NOS exhaust system for it.

Here is an excerpt from an e-mail they sent me with the original GM part numbers:

help us locate an N.O.S.- exhaust system for my 1978 Pontiac Trans Am with the Pontiac 400 engine. Here is the needed info:

Front Y-Pipe 10002881

Y-pipe behind catalytic convertor 10003452

Resonator 10002882

Resonator 10002883

hopefully i didnt bring you false hopes but,

Guy i know redid his 75 Ventura and put a 400 in it. Impossible to find from collector back. So i got one from a junk yard and sand blasted it and had it nickel dipped. It cost around 700 in 95 to have that done. But then that wouldn't be original then.

If the car has only 21,000 original miles, why are they giving it a concours-quality restoration? If they're going for points for originality, what's better than original? Certainly those that are familiar with concourses would know of Preservation Class, yes?

Try:

Mike's F-body (AZ) : 602-276-1522 (all F-Body NOS)

Bill's Birds (NY?) : bb-ny.com / 631-667-3853

Kurt Kelsey (IO) : 641-648-9086 (general PMD NOS- primarily '35-68 tho)

firebirdtaclub.com

CPR (CA) : 714-245-9800 / pontiacparts.net

Joe Curtis (NC) : 828-298-8304 (general PMD NOS)

The above comes from a recent Smoke Signals issue.

You can also try the classified boards at classicalpontiac.com and performanceyears.com and yearone.com (they carry some NOS stuff).

Happy hunting!

I cant seem to find a parking brake release cable for the Bonneville to save my soul. I pulled it to release the parking brake and ended up with it in my hand.
