A little Spring cleaning...featuring the Shadow!

Recommended Posts

It was a nice day out but at the same time rather warm (85 degrees!). I discovered today that the Intrepid's A/C wasn't very cold. So I bought a couple cans of R134a (one for the Intrepid and one for the Shadow, (because I know it needs it). Took some time but after an hour or two I had both cars blowing out ice cubes. Then I cleaned out the interiors, and finished off with a rinse to the exteriors. They'll need a more formal cleaning inside and out but a rinse couldn't hurt. This is especially true for the Shadow, as the poor thing wasn't washed once all winter...making it look even worse than it is.

After I finished I snapped some late afternoon photos while the cars were still wet...makes the Shadow look half decent when it's wet :P

Dark cars always look better when the suns going down...otherwise the sunshine shows off all of those fine surface scratches, which i completely hate.

And when you consider the rather large dent in passenger side fender, the assloads of rust along the driver's side doors and rocker panels...it helps further :P

i washed the saturn today...the paint is almost showroom shiny(with the exception of the painting mishap i had with the drivers door) and the car looked amazing and so reflective...until the sun shined directly on the paint which showcased those evil little scratches.

That's why I like light colors for everyday driving...they hide most of that stuff.

It looks like a very hilly neighborhood, must be a bitch in the snow.

Yup it is. I live on the tallest hill in the city. Sitting by the window with a cup of hot cocoa and watching cars try to go up the hill is a favorite pastime. Once a pickup with a plow on it got stuck trying to plow...tried to get itself free...then ended up setting the transmission on fire!

Dodge, you should black out your plates before you post the pics on the internet for the world to see.

I never understood why people do that...

I mean, it's a publicly displayed number. ANYONE can come up and take pictures of your car and license plate and post them. It's not like a secret number.

Hey Dodgefan, hit me up with info on how to add a few cans of R134a (which I am assuming is freon) to an A/C system. My S-10 isn't blowing that much cold air anymore.

I saw a black Dodge Shadow today, and it looked like it was on it's way to the big 'Freeway in the Sky' ...`

Many of them do. However I see a few ES Shadows around campus that are still in good shape...there's also one that looks absolutely horrid. Most Shadows I see these days are base model 2.2L Shadows...many without painted bumpers...they look like $h!. I have seen a few 2.2L Turbos...and sometimes V6 ES models...although those engines were oil burners (and the 4-speed auto had issues..thanks Mitsubishi on both counts). It's rare to find a Shadow older than `91. I have never seen another black Shadow in person...strange considering the name :P
